How come everybody knows I'm pregnant?!

I'm only 8 weeks but my mum asked outright if I was pregnant the day after my first positive test, my friend said she knew before I told her and today we told my MIL who apparently had asked FIL a couple of weeks ago if he thought I was pregnant cos she did. I've not been leaving any clues lying about and we didn't tell people we were trying. Has anyone else had this??

First to spot my pregnancy were:

  • the family pets
  • male colleagues who had 3+ kids
  • me

Congratulations

My dad asked me outright after I was sick in a fountain.

A colleague solved the cryptic 'MW apt' in my diary.

I had a visible bump by ten weeks which was quite the giveaway too.

Dw the same thing happened to me with a few people! A older lady knew before I even did Haha, and my step mums mum knew. Also a lot of people kept asking us when we were planning on having a baby right at the beginning of my pregnancy when I was keeping a secret, I just laughed it off but found it quite funny!

1990carey · 02/07/2019 20:48

That should say a older lady I work with.

Sunshineonleith12 · 02/07/2019 20:49

It can really be the tiniest clue that gives it away. My giveaway was my DH putting his hand on my back when we were out for a walk with family. My Dsis giveaway was choosing a baked potato for dinner. Once the idea pops into your head that someone might be pregnant everything just seems so obvious! Congratulations x

You know when you get pregnant, you glow...there’s a hue...😂😂😂😂

crazycatbaby · 02/07/2019 20:58

I'm a hairdresser and you generally can't hide it in the salon 😂 my giveaways last pregnancy was horrid greasy hair and taking a packed lunch in every day. I'm about 6 weeks pregnant now and waiting for somebody to spot soon Grinwe can usually tell because we know each other so well and spend so much time together, so we can tell straight away if something is out of the ordinary

Youmadorwhat · 02/07/2019 21:02

It’s all in how you carry yourself... it changes almost instantly and everyone else notices it 😂😂 and your face gets a tiny bit puffier! Congratulations 🎉

GummyGoddess · 02/07/2019 21:04

Two colleagues told me I was pregnant before the line even showed up on a test. Apparently my face looked pregnant.

Grandadwasthatyou · 02/07/2019 21:06

Agree with above. I thought my dd was as her face looked slightly fuller with a healthy glow. I was right and didn't even know she had been trying.

magneticmumbles · 02/07/2019 21:06

Everyone will always claim they knew. My friends and family did, but then they'd spent nearly 4 years guessing incorrectly. If I'd told them at any point before I was pregnant that I was expecting, they'd have said "I knew it!" But they'd have been wrong.
They just happened to be right this time because they suspect it all the time. It's just coincidence in my case.

Sandsnake · 02/07/2019 21:06

It’s weird! I’m eight weeks too and last night in the bath with three year old DS he put his head on my abdomen and said ‘is there a baby in your tummy? Because I’ll love it’ Shock. We hadn’t said anything to him!!

Mitebiteatnite · 02/07/2019 21:07

My sisters friend knew before I'd told anyone, and she told my sister. When I announced it my sister said 'oh Laura said you were pregnant and she's never wrong about that stuff'!

Also my friends dog, who was suddenly very keen to walk alongside me on school runs whereas before he hadn't been the least bit interested!

HungryForSnacks · 02/07/2019 21:16

My 3 year old niece pointed to my stomach and said 'baby'. I was about 5 weeks pregnant at that stage so what she was really saying was 'you're fat'

ElGuardiandenoche · 02/07/2019 21:31

My husband has the ‘gift’ and will say to me such and such is pregnant and told me on all my pregnancies before I’ve taken a test.

Hairwizard · 02/07/2019 22:06

My ils werent at all surprised when we announced. Said they knew already. Must have been my pasty pale face gave it away lol.

duckme · 02/07/2019 22:08

I think you just give off an aura, I genuinely do.

Focalpoint · 02/07/2019 22:48

What really bugged me were the ones who said "I knew it!" Before saying "congratulations" and your announcement turns into a conversation about how they spotted it!!!

tisonlymeagain · 02/07/2019 22:49

I am 9 weeks tomorrow but when I was 5 weeks my DPs 5 year old daughter came running into the room, crouched down, kissed my tummy and ran out. Totally freaked me out!

I suspect his parents know or think I am because they asked me why I wasn't drinking at lunch the other day, but kind of knowingly...

megletthesecond · 02/07/2019 22:53

I swear women's faces become rounder (not fatter) when they're in early pregnancy. I've spotted colleagues pregnancies at those stages.

Mrsmummy90 · 02/07/2019 23:03

I've always been able to tell when people are pregnant. They just look different somehow.

Starlight84 · 02/07/2019 23:09

I’m 13 weeks tomorrow and all my colleagues are still blissfully unaware I am pregnant! Some of my family don’t even know yet! No ones guess at all for me xx

WhiteLightTrainWreck · 02/07/2019 23:11

My dog knew before I did, but he also knew when I was miscarrying before. I've never known him to be a cuddly as he has been over the past year.
Mum knew, but waited for me to tell her, she did the happy dance as she was with me when my mc was confirmed. She also told my dad she thought I was before I had told her.
One of the girls in my office worked it out because we have the same cycle, so we usually asked if the other had come on yet most month's, she realised I hadn't mentioned AF for a while and asked me out right.

Pinkflower23 · 03/07/2019 04:39

I was a smoker before I become pregnant, found out at 4 weeks, completely quit smoking at 6 weeks. The first thing everyone said to me is have you quit because you are pregnant ! Really annoying actually. But I denied it and made it out to be my health. I’m just under 17w and still haven't told a single friend, family member or work and don’t have intentions to until 20w. I’m only petite and thought I may have had to tell everyone by now simply because of showing but honestly I still feel that flat I can defo get away with it until 20w xxx

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 03/07/2019 04:44

Fat face and not drinking due to antibiotics...
