Dunno. I'm 22+1 and still haven't bought a single thing for baby yet! Gonna wait til i've had my 22 week scan tomorrow before i even THINK about it!!

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:06

Is there a reason you haven't?

yes. i went out to mothercare the day i got a positive pregnancy test and bought an outfit.

i had the cot ordered by 16 weeks-loads bought.
my view is tht to be optimistic always.

i did it , tried not to but could'nt stop myself.

SlightlyMadSpider · 25/07/2007 17:07

If baby is born before 23-24 weeks it can not survive. Even beyond that it will be in hosptial until close to EDD. On that basis - unless it is a fantastic sale item somewhere it is completely unnecessary to buy anything before 5-6m at the earliest IMO.

flowerybeanbag · 25/07/2007 17:09

Don't. Not til after 20 wk scan. You don't need to before then anyway.

LIZS · 25/07/2007 17:10

pointless , why not save it for later on. Didn't order anything before 6 months and only bought a cuddly toy after first scan. Partly superstition I suppose and partly focus on other things while you can. You can get baby things so readily now anyway.

JARM · 25/07/2007 17:11

I have bought a few second hand bits, but refuse to buy too much just yet, and I am 22+2

We are having a 4D scan in a few weeks to find out the sex, so will wait til then, at least i know i will be past the 24week mark so baby will be viable if born early.

The double buggy will not be bought until i am at least 34 weeks.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 25/07/2007 17:15

i brought a changing bag at 10 weeks as the offer was really good but apart from that didnt buy anything until i was 30 wks +

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:16

filchthemildmanneredjanitor you've made me feel loads better lol I brought a little outfit but i couldnt resist. Also i am not in the position to go out and buy everything in bulk a few weeks before baby is here so i am going to try and get bits and bobs each week. I would rather think positive than if i buy this now then baby could..... ya know....I would prefer to be happy from now if you see what i mean. Just glad im not the only one...phew!!!

the idea of not buying anything in case the baby doesn't survive is just horrible.

like you i had to buy bits as we went along and i couldn't have done it all at the end. apart from anything, the idea of going round the shops at 30 weeks + , looking for prams etc...too tiring!

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:21

well yeah exactly lol the downside if your like me though is that you unpack all the stuff a million times before baby makes an appearance lol

filch, horrible yes but not as horrible as coming home from losing a baby to see little outfits.
however I applaud positive attitudes so maybe I should retract my initial comment, people should enjoy this time if they've no reason not to

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:25

its a very exciting time and buying all the little tiny baby things is brilliant!!

flowerybeanbag · 25/07/2007 17:27

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:29

I started buying things before I even got pregnant with ds2 (9 weeks today). It's so fun to think and dream about it.

I'm broody now.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:39

its great!! although i dont think i will buy anymore clothes until ive found out the sex as its fun to go and buy little dresses or dungarees. But i will still be getting essentials.... dummies, bottles, bibs etc etc

We had two bleeds that scared the sh*t out of me in the first eight weeks, and I was so freaked out I didn't buy a thing till after week 20 because I just couldn't believe we'd really have a baby to use them.

I allowed my mum and sister to buy an outfit each at week 16 but I really wasn't comfortable.

Have made up for it since, though

And whoever said eBay is evil and makes you buy things was spot on...

sweetkitty · 25/07/2007 17:45

First pregnancy bought loads the day after the 20 week scan pink pink and more pink. Think it has to be done with your first.

This time (3rd) we will wait until we have the scan if it's another girl we will be buying very little as she can have all her sisters stuff some of which has never been worn. If it's a boy then he will need new clothes.

Will be buying a new buggy as well but not until after Christmas (am 7+3 weeks) so a while yet.

iliketosleep · 25/07/2007 17:46

no its not ebay its my computer mouse, my computer mouse is addicted to ebay
