Hey,

I thought it would be nice to set up a group for those suffering with anxiety at whatever stage of pregnancy.
I’m approaching 14 weeks and my anxiety has been up and down, particularly as I had a loss last year.
I’m currently having therapy and trying to stay active. Eating and drinking well...

Any tips/thoughts/rants welcome. xx

@RC1985- Hello my darling, great to hear you’re prepared for your midwife appt. I’m terrible, always have lots of questions before I go in then forget to ask them 🙈
Very quiet weekend, been resting lots as not sleeping great which my body is not used to lol. I usually sleep around 9 hours a night so adjusting to living on less sleep.
How have you been? Have you got a date for your 20 week scan? X

RC1985 · 07/10/2019 17:44

@Kate3150 I’ve written my questions down ready, very prepared lol. 20 week scan, 5th November so now panicking about that.

Had a bad day today. Reading stories about still birth. Bad bad idea! Don’t know why I do this to myself! I’m no where near that point yet.

How come your not sleeping, is this what happens later on in pregnancy?

Kate3150 · 07/10/2019 20:03

@RC1985- Don’t beat yourself up about it. I too have also read things that I know will just increase my anxiety and make me feel crap but done it anyway. 20 week scan honestly will be absolutely fine, it’s probably the most relaxed appointment I’ve had during the pregnancy.
Baby is kicking a lot now... plus I have such a stuffy/itchy nose it seems to bother me most at 3am, so I’m awake sneezing and blowing my nose for an hour before getting a few more hours sleep. Plus can’t get comfy- I think it’s a 3rd trimester thing... xx

@Kate3150 how weird I have had a stuffy/itchy nose today. In fact at one point I rubbed my nose that much I thought it was going to be red raw!

Sounds like you’re not having much fun at the moment. Not too long for you now though. Seems so long away that I’ll be at that point.

Great to hear he’s kicking all the time now. When did you first start feeling proper kicks?

Kate3150 · 08/10/2019 10:45

@RC1985- I’ve just been to the docs to get a nasal spray. Had another bad nights sleep and feeling crap today so hopefully this will do the trick. Little man likes to have a party when I’m trying to get back to sleep lol 😴.
I started to feel the kicks quite late on... random movements at around.....20 weeks??? Stronger movements at 25 weeks and now very strong and frequent at 30+2. He sometimes takes me by surprise as they’re quite strong 💪
You will be at this stage before you know it, honestly I remember feeling like you and thinking each milestone is a lifetime away but you will get there. I know being anxious makes time feel as though it’s dragging but you’re doing SO well poppet xx

Hello ladies - I'm new to this thread but @Kate3150 what a fab idea! I'm 24 weeks today and have been dealing with the anxiety pretty well until now Sad

We're having a girl and for the last week she's been super active, kicking and rolling around but I noticed that she's always active right after I've eaten lunch or dinner. Yesterday she was constantly kicking for near on 2 hours after lunch but today I had my lunch as usual and nothing, no kicks! Confused

I called the pregnancy advice line and they have advised that at this early gestation it's possible she's moved into a different position where I can't feel her as much but it's my first pregnancy & I have type 1 diabetes so finding it hard not to worry!

I'm going to give it another hour or so to see if she kicks otherwise it might be a trip to the hospital ... just feel like I'm overreacting but I know that if I don't do anything & something ends up being wrong I'll never forgive myself.

This being a parent lark is already tough!! Sad

Kate3150 · 08/10/2019 17:22

@MummyBear405- Welcome my lovely!!!
Congratulations, how exciting you’re having a little girl 💜. I’m team blue, did you have a feeling you’d be having a girl? I knew mine would be a boy ☺️.
The kicks thing is difficult especially at your stage of the pregnancy HOWEVER do not sit home worrying about it. If something is telling you things aren’t right then go and get checked out. They are used to seeing women all the time concerned about fetal movement.
I was worried a couple of nights ago I couldn’t feel him move, so I had a fizzy drink and luckily he started to kick after a while but it’s exhausting. I’ve got bad sinuses at the moment so not sleeping well, when I do manage to drift of he decides to have a party in my womb lol... like I keep saying we are warriors! Women are amazing 💜

Hi, can I please join? I am around 7 weeks and my anxiety is peaking, but it's more to do with worry over myself than the baby. This will be my second so I am very worried that something will happen to me and I cannot bear to think of what that would do to my son. I just watched a program and it mentioned someone collapsed at 5 months and her heart stopped. She was ok but I felt my anxiety kick in and I went all hot and I am now really unsure I want to proceed with this. I don't have my first midwife appointment until next week. I know it probably sounds silly and with how many people I know who have had kids and are having kids, even that doesn't settle my mind :(

RC1985 · 08/10/2019 17:48

@MummyBear405 I’m not that far along yet so @Kate3150 is probably better to give you advice. but I’d def go hospital if advice line won’t have you in. Honestly the anxiety is unreal some days!

@kate3105 I feel like I’m feeling something. It’s like popping in that area. Sometimes happens a few times, sometimes happens once. I think I’m going to freak out when movement gets more prominent in case it stops.

Did you have any more scans after the 29 weeks?

RC1985 · 08/10/2019 17:59

Sorry @Kate3150 that should be did you have anymore scans after 20 weeks not 29 🙈

MummyBear405 · 08/10/2019 18:00

@Kate3150 thank you so much for the warm welcome funnily enough my husband was so adamant that he'd produce a boy so we had a £10 bet as I just felt that it was a girl ... not sure how much of that was gut feeling or just wanting to prove my DH wrong!

Thankfully she started kicking about an hour after I posted, still not as much as yesterday but I do think that's because she still has lots of room and has moved to a new position. Will keep an eye on it!

@Raindancer411 I'm so sorry you're feeling this way, I'm a FTM so can't give advice however I do think about what would happen to my DH if something happened to me. It's a valid concern but plenty of women have healthy pregnancies over & over again, perhaps call your GP and see if you can get in to see a midwife sooner? Let us know how you get on! Hope you feel better soonThanks

@RC1985 how far along are you? It truly is amazing when you start to feel strong movement, I thought I'd be creeped out but today I was willing her to kick ... how things change! Grin

Raindancer411 · 08/10/2019 18:05

Thanks Mummybear

RC1985 · 08/10/2019 19:12

@MummyBear405 16 weeks :) not sure what I’m having and don’t mind. DH sister thinks it’s a boy, we do have a lot of boys in our family lol but you never know.

Kate3150 · 10/10/2019 13:29

@MummyBear405- How have you been? Little one been moving ok??
@RC1985- How are you lovely? Ready for your midwife appt tomorrow? I’m trying to remember my 16 week appt. Think it was pretty routine doing the usual urine and blood pressure check 😊. I had a scan at around 25 weeks... I was going to treat myself to another this week but have decided against it.. will probably wait a few more weeks but will definitely have another one before he arrives. I just like to see how is little face is changing 💙
@Raindancer411- How are you doing poppet? Anxiety is so scary, I’ve had such a battle with it and now I’ve kind of given into it if that makes sense? Which has made living with it A LOT easier! All anxiety really is is thoughts and they can be scary but remember they’re just thoughts. So if you’re worrying about something happening to you. Just remind yourself all it is is a thought and let is pass through. X

Raindancer411 · 10/10/2019 13:43

@Kate3150 Not to bad today, other than really suffering with feeling sick. Other half is working from home which helps. I find my mind is worse when I am alone. Keep trying to remind myself that most of these things I worry about, you don't know many people who it happens too

Kate3150 · 10/10/2019 13:57

@Raindancer411- I’m exactly the same!! Me and my Husband live quite a way from friends and family so I spend a lot of time alone which is when my anxiety is at its worse.
See you’re already rationalising the anxiety by telling yourself it’s highly unlikely the bad things you're thinking will happen- well done you 💜. How old is your little boy? I’m so excited to have a boy. I had a feeling I would be and lo and behold I am 💙

Raindancer411 · 10/10/2019 14:32

@Kate3150 He is 7, so it's going to be a bit of a shock and life changer for him. We are due to re do our mortgage soon and may free up some money to try and convert the garage into a base for him. He can then have all his Lego out and it can be a baby free escape for him. I don't want to upset him and am hoping he won't be too upset by the news.

RC1985 · 11/10/2019 11:48

@Kate3150 all went well at the MW appt. my blood group is positive and I don’t have a UTI so that has put my mind at rest. I heard the heartbeat too 🥰 which was lovely. So at the moment I am calm. How much was your scan if you don’t mind me asking and where did you go for it, did you just phone the local private hospital?

Kate3150 · 13/10/2019 21:16

@RC1985- Yayyy!!! So pleased you had a good midwife apt. I always feel on cloud 9 when a check up has gone well 😊.
I think I pay around £80 for a private scan? It’s not at a hospital or anything which is nice as doesn’t feel clinical. It’s just a specialist place that does scans. I think they’re fantastic as they also give you an insight into how babies growing etc...
I’ve probably asked you this but are you going to
find out the sex? X

OP posts:
MummyBear405 · 13/10/2019 21:42

@Kate3150 sorry for the radio silence but yes she's been a right little pickle rolling around and kicking me for the past couple of days!

@RC1985 good to hear your midwife appointment went well it's always a relief when they can tick everything off! Pretty soon you'll be feeling little one moving around Smile

RC1985 · 14/10/2019 13:27

@Kate3150 thank you 😘 yes we will find out sex. Is the place where you have a scan, a chain? I’m wondering if there is one near me? I’m in the West Midlands, it’s award worth going on recommendations.

@MummyBear405 thank you. I do feel popping or like twitching in that area but unsure if it’s baby or something else.

danielasummer · 14/10/2019 14:28

Hi, can I join? I'm 9 weeks today and have been anxious since I found out at 4 weeks! I'm so nervous that things aren't going well - my symptoms disappeared overnight on Wednesday last week and although people have told me it's happened to them, I still feel sick to my stomach that something is wrong (although a little reassured by the lovely ladies that replied on my thread).

So sorry to read everyone on this thread is also anxious.. it's horrible feeling this way, isn't it? Just want to enjoy it for mine and my husband's sake! xx

MummyBear405 · 14/10/2019 14:57

@RC1985 that's how it started for me at around 18/19 weeks. It was like popping and swirling, very subtle but now I can actually see my tummy moving when she kicks. It'll come round quick! Grin

Hey @danielasummer welcome to the thread! I found out at 4 weeks too, hadn't even missed my period but something was telling me to take a test and there it was. It's a huge shock even if you're planning it and honestly that anxious feeling doesn't really go away but your body is doing lots so you need to trust it's going in the right direction. What symptoms did you have that you're not having anymore? If you're really worried you can self refer to your local early pregnancy unit, they can do an internal scan to see what's going on xx

danielasummer · 14/10/2019 15:59

@MummyBear405 Hello, thank you. It is still a huge shock but a very welcome pregnancy!! I had breast soreness, exhaustion, frequent urination, constipation, queasiness.. now it's all gone. It's driving me crazy but my midwife is very chilled about it and said to only worry if there is blood, but there isn't blood during miss miscarriages so I'm thinking surely I should be worried now? I've read online it can be a symptom of m/c but on here people have all said they've had it.. I'm worry to self refer to EPU as if my midwife finds out she won't be happy and I feel like she's already being cold towards me! Such a mixture of emotions. How far along are you? xx

Kate3150 · 14/10/2019 19:38

@RC1985- No poppet it’s not a chain, just a “one off” where I live- I’m South area. I’ve been super lucky as I literally just did an internet search and found this place. The sonographer is just the loveliest person and I feel so at ease going there. I know a lot of the places have reviews on their site so maybe have a scroll through before booking?
So exited for you to find out the sex 😬, any inklings? I had a feeling mine was a boy- lo and behold I was right 💙 x
