Hey,

I thought it would be nice to set up a group for those suffering with anxiety at whatever stage of pregnancy.
I’m approaching 14 weeks and my anxiety has been up and down, particularly as I had a loss last year.
I’m currently having therapy and trying to stay active. Eating and drinking well...

Any tips/thoughts/rants welcome. xx

@ohdearymemumof3- How are you doing? He was 7lb 7oz bless him. I’m recovering really well, was expecting to have a huge scar- cannot believe they got baby out of such a small space! X

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Xmas for tomorrow 🎄

@Kate3150 both me and other half have colds so it’s no fun :( How amamazing you can share this Xmas with your little one :)

@Maggie272 glad you’re feeling a little better. Like Kate3150 said, they are just thoughts but I know how you feel as you can get buried in your thoughts sometimes. 5 weeks yaay! I used to get excited (and still do) each week as I’ve made it to another week. Your 12 weeks will be here in no time.

Maggie272 · 24/12/2019 18:37

@Kate3150 @RC1985

Thank you so much for replying! Anxiety is repetitive and so am I. I was just worried cos I had that bad hour and then had cramps. No bleeding or anything, but I was worried I was causing it to end...

Kate that is wonderful about your little boy! You must have felt like you got the the end of a marathon

RC how far along are you?

ohdearymemumof3 · 26/12/2019 05:50

@ohdearymemumof3 congratulations 💗 what a lovely Christmas present for you. I hope everything went well with the labour?

@Maggie272 how are you today? How was your Christmas Day? I am 27+3 at the moment, have a private scan on Sunday which I’m excited but also nervous about.

Maggie272 · 28/12/2019 11:34

@ohdearymemumof3 congratulations! So happy for you - hope you are all doing well!

@RC1985 I am feeling much better! I had a bit of a scare yesterday when my symptoms disappeared and I thought I saw some spotting...went to the doc who did my bloods...she said they were the most reassuring blood results she'd ever seen. She also said that women on the IVF hormones (I am still on them) can become increasingly anxious, and she's seen some women who even become psychotic. This was very reassuring...I spent the first four weeks on the drugs convinced my husband was going to prison for tipping the back of someone's car almost two years ago...and loads of other totally crazy thoughts. It's helped hearing that.

I feel I can calm down a little bit. She said I'm doing everything right and just to relax. No one can predict the future, but today I'm pregnant. How are you?

Hope everyone is well after Christmas? xxx

@RC1985- enjoy tomorrow 💜 will be thinking of you xx

Hi @Kate3150 and @Maggie272 so I went for my scan this morning and although there are no problems with the placenta or fluid level, she’s measuring and weighing smaller than average for her gestational age. The songorapher said, she’s measuring below the 10th Centile and I need to show the graphs to my midwife and ask to be sent for a scan on nhs so they can compare results. She said, she could just be a small baby who will catch up. So just as I’d started to relax a little as I’m feeling her move, now my anxiety has gone backwards. So worrying. Seeing midwife Friday so will be speaking to her about this.

Maggie272- glad you’re feeling better and your doctor has reassured you. Hopefully you can relax a little now.

Kate3150 · 29/12/2019 18:34

@RC1985- Ohhhh my darling, I’m here for you if you need to talk 💜.
Its completely understandable you’re feeling anxious about it all but like sonographer said
she could just be on the smaller side and catch up.
Do you feel ok waiting until Friday to see midwife? I’m sure she would be able to see you earlier if it would make you feel better and ease your anxiety xx

RC1985 · 29/12/2019 18:54

Thanks @Kate3150 unfortunately my midwife isn’t permanent at my surgery and only comes in on a Friday. It’s 5 days so I’m going to hang on as best I can.

It looks like head and thigh are growing at same pace but abdominal is 2.5 weeks behind so basically she’s thin for her gest age.

I feel it’s my fault, I’ve had 2 colds and although I’ve been drinking plenty and eating well, I’ve eaten more chocolate than normal because it’s xmas. At least nothing wrong with fluid and placenta. Also other half said he was a smaller baby when born and we are both not tall, he’s 5ft9 and I’m 5ft4.

I just hope it’s a case she’s small and hoping they will monitor me on nhs now and not rely on midwife led care.

Kate3150 · 30/12/2019 12:54

@RC1985- it’s nothing you have done my darling please please do not beat yourself up about anything. Babies are so well protected in the womb, your cold would have had no effect.
If your placenta is working well then she’s getting what she needs. Sounds like she’s just on the slightly smaller side.
No doubt your midwife will discuss things going forward on Friday. How are you feeling today? X

RC1985 · 30/12/2019 13:02

@Kate3150 thanks for voice of confidence. I feel a little better as put a post on here and had loads of people respond saying it happened to them and everything was fine. I just hope my midwife doesn’t dismiss it because it was private and just say she’s not concerned. Roll on Friday!

Luna2019 · 30/12/2019 13:27

It's nice to find this feed. I have had pretty bad anxiety most the way through (30 weeks now) and I'm so scared my anxiety will have impacted the baby. I'm better than I was but still feel very nervous. X

RC1985 · 30/12/2019 14:04

Hey @Luna2019 you’re not far in front of me. Honestly finding this thread has really helped me, it makes you feel you’re not alone as someone always answers your concerns. Have you spoken to your midwife about your anxiety? Is it anything is paticular that worries you?

Luna2019 · 30/12/2019 14:37

@RC1985 yes all the health professionals involved with me know which helps. My anxiety is mostly about my anxiety causing harm to the baby. Stupidly read research that stress on pregnancy can lead to autism etc x

Raindancer411 · 30/12/2019 15:03

I am 19+5 and last few weeks been getting palpations. Went to triage and they did an ecg and said all ok and to speak to my consultant when I see her next month. However last night I went to A&E as my heart as well as feeling it beating sped up quite fast. They did another ecg and no change from last one. Told me to just drink more as that may be one reason why and all other stats ok. Thing is it's happening today with feeling heart beating but it sets off my anxiety. Never had this first pregnancy but I was 7 years younger...

Luna2019 · 30/12/2019 15:36

Yeah I've had similar @Raindancer411. Then that sets me off. What's your resting heart rate? Mines a lot faster than normal x

Raindancer411 · 30/12/2019 16:38

@Luna2019 Yes since having my son, anytime I go anywhere and I get my rate tested am told it runs fast. Never been told it's an issue lol But obviously with all the extra blood it's more noticeable x

Kate3150 · 02/01/2020 16:55

@RC1985- Hope all goes well with the midwife tomorrow 😚. How are you doing? X

OP posts:
RC1985 · 02/01/2020 17:11

Hi @Kate3150 thanks 😘 and will do. Went to maternity unit on Tuesday as felt movements had reduced. Still moving but really slowly. Everything fine and next day was really active. Had a slower day today but just started being active again. I’m really on edge at the moment, can’t stop thinking about stillbirth, I don’t want to go to work next week.

I hope you and your little man are doing well and he’s growing well ☺️.

Kate3150 · 02/01/2020 17:18

@RC1985- I was EXACTLY the same, I was hoping anxiety would piss off at some stage but it just became a new thing. I thought once I hit third trimester I would be cool as a cucumber but I then worried about still birth, movements etc. Anxiety is a s*bag!!!
How many weeks are you now? X

OP posts:
RC1985 · 02/01/2020 17:31

28+3 weeks now. Not long, I remember when you said you were at this stage. It’s since I had that private scan and they told me growth was behind, it’s made my anxiety worse. In one way it’s good because hopefully I’ll be monitored more closely but it’s just so worrying. All I feel like doing is sleeping it off or walking the dog, that helps. My dog always puts a smile on my face :)

Wouldn’t it be great if you could take something that made your anxiety go away!

RC1985 · 02/01/2020 17:34

@kate3150 oh yea and someone the other day said, I did think your bump wasn't that big! Thanks for that! My friend said but you’re slim yourself so it’s not going to be massive.

Kate3150 · 02/01/2020 17:40

@RC1985- bump size is NOTHING to go on honestly, please don’t let that add to your anxiety.
I wish the scan had gone better for you but like you say one thing you can take from it is that they will monitor you closely.
I cannot stress enough to people how horrid anxiety is... really frustrating when people don’t understand what it’s like.
You really have and ARE doing so well 💜
