Did anyone else here watch this? It terrified the life out of me, but I felt I ought to know what I was going in for,

The question is, is the post-natal hospital care really as bad as it appeared in that programme? The communication between midwives and patient was appalling - not only jumbled up gibberish, but also treating the mother like she's an imbecile, and frankly a pain in the arse.

Please give me some positive comments about hospitals!

thanks to mintpurple & others who responded to my rant, I can only say that they are absolutely right, I was being unfair and provocative, I'd had a gruesome day, still nursing a wound that won't close from my last fun filled trip to the birth arena last Nov, still in pain, still do have a gorgeous ds3 to show for it. apologies to any who took offence.

I think the best solution is somewhere btwn mintpurple and dimcat. Yes if you go in looking for a fight you're not going to do well as staff will steer clear of you with good reason. However, when vital things are not being given to you or they are ignoring fundamental things then you have to stand up and shout.

The best way to get things is to have a m/w on side and the way you get one is by being your usual nice person. But when dealing with some people jobsworth or not, then unfortunately you have to kick up a fuss or else you'll suffer. Obviously treatment should go to those who most need it but when you're on an understaffed ward how can they work out who needs it most? The only methods are by making a fuss or pressing a buzzer. Frankly, if you get very ill when in your cubicle depending on the time of day you'll be lucky to be discovered for quite a few hours until lunch/pills/random doctors come round.
