(((Waves purple)))

'Saying I love you is not the words I want to hear you say, it's not that I want you, not to say it but, if you only knew, hooooow easy it would be to show me how you feel, more than words.......'

I LOVE THAT SONG!! Can you tell?

Does that mean we're getting on a bit now? That was 1991 wasn't it?

(((waves back at HIWBB!!!)))

I think it was that year yes - I was in Canada when it was released over there and loved it, even bought it on cassette single there!!! Came home and waited a couple of months, then it was released here - I drive the family up the wall with it sometimes!!!!

I must be having an emotional day because I can't stop balling my eyes out now!

I'm just downloading that other one - its by Shirley Caesar

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/07/2007 16:21

Oooh, might try Loretta Lynn too!

kinki · 22/07/2007 16:41

The songs that remind me of my dses are:
Sunshine by Gabrielle, because they brighten up my life (sorry, I know that's a bit corny); and
Don't stop me now by Queeen because it reminds me of their energy and exuberance, this one makes me very emotional when I hear it.

MuffinMclay · 22/07/2007 19:19

Kaiser Chiefs - I predict a riot.

There was a stage when I was pg and we were between houses, and almost all of our possessions were in storage. It was one of the few CDs I had in the car, and I always played it on the way to mw appointments. Ds always started kicking when it came on. As a young baby he would stop crying when he heard it too.

The other one is the Hard-Fi album (yellow cover, can't remember the name). I played it to death late at night, driving around, in a desperate attempt to get him to sleep.

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 22/07/2007 19:20

Yellow by Coldplay. Makes me well up! (soppy git)

hockeypuck · 22/07/2007 21:42

Oh yes and of course Fix You by Coldplay - not sure if Chris Martin wrote that for his daughter or not, but it is so apt.

Ozzy Osbourne - My Little Man

Don't You Know I Love You More
Than Life Itself
Don't You Know That You're My Pride
And I Would Not Have You
Walking Through This World
Without Me By Your Side

Go To Sleep My Little Man
Don't You Weep My Little Man

I'd Like To Keep You With Me
All Your Life,
But I Know I Can't Do That
So I Must Try To Teach You
Wrong From Right,
To Keep The Vultures From
Your Back

Go To Sleep My Little Man
Don't You Weep My Little Man

And When You're Dreaming
You Can Talk To Angels
So Wipe The Tears From Your Eyes
And If There's Demons
That Try To Steal Your Breath Away
You Can't Believe That, Know,
My Spirit Will Be Standing By
Your Side

You Saved Me, You Gave Me
The Greatest Gift Of All
Believe Me, Believe
There Ain't No Mountain That's Too Tall
I Will Gladly Carry Your Cross
For You
To Take Your Pain Away
But What I Can't Carry Is My Love
For You,
Beyond My Dying Day

So Be Strong My Little Man
When I'm Gone My Little Man
You Got To Be My Little Man
So Don't You Weep My Little Man
Go To Sleep My Little Man
Don't You Weep My Little Man
You Got To Be My Little Man
So Don't You Weep My Little Man

Oh, and Creed did a beautiful song that I listened to all the time when pregnant the first time called "With Arms Wide Open"

Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open

Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything ...oh yeah
With arms wide open..wide open

If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open...

-Excuse long posts! Weirdly both these songs are about boys and I have a dd and another due in 2 weeks!

Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day -was playing on the radio when we were driving to hospital to have DD, very apt as she was a Sept baby (wish I could have slept through the first few weeks...)

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd was playing while she was being born - one of my favourite songs

Anything by Jack Johnson, we used to play it to her through my stomach

You're Beautiful (James Blunt?) - another one being played constantly on the radio just before and after she was born

If You're Happy and You Know It and Row Row Row Your Boat - currently her favourites!!

PinkChick · 23/07/2007 09:18

No charge - Loretta Lynn

My little boy came into the kitchen this evenin'
While I was fixin' supper
And he handed me a piece of paper he'd been writin' on
And after wipin' my hands on my apron
I read it - and this is what it said:

For mowin' the yard - five dollars
And for makin' my own bed this week - one dollar
And for goin' to the store - fifty cents
An' playin' with little brother, while you went shoppin' - twenty-five
cents
Takin' out the trash - one dollar
Gettin' a good report card - five dollars
And for rakin' the yard - two dollars
Total owed - fourteen seventy-five.

Well, I looked at 'im standin' there expectantly
And a thousand mem'ries flashed through my mind
So I picked up the pen, turnin' the paper over,
This is what I wrote:

For nine months I carried you
Growin' inside me - NO CHARGE
For the nights I've sat up with you,
Doctored you, prayed for you - NO CHARGE
For the time and the tears.
And the cost through the years, there's NO CHARGE
When you add it all up.
The full cost of my love is NO CHARGE.

For the nights filled with dread
And the worries ahead - NO CHARGE
For advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college - NO CHARGE
For the toys, food and clothes and for wipin' your nose
There's NO CHARGE, son
When you add it all up,
The full cost of my love, is - NO CHARGE.

Recitation:
Well, when he finished readin'
He had great big old tears in his eyes
And he looked up at me and he said,
"Mama, I sure do love you."
Then he took the pen,
And in great big letters
He wrote: "PAID IN FULL."

When you add it all up
The cost of real love is - NO CHARGE

Everything by Michael Buble

"I can't believe
that I'm your man (changed to Mum!)
and I get to kiss you baby
just because I can

Whatever comes our way,
we'll see it through
that's what I know
when I look at you"

Okay so baby isn't born yet but it's exactly how DH and I feel.

MarsLady · 23/07/2007 12:34
