Hi, I'm just about to send off the forms and wondered how long it will take to come through - anybody had any experience with this?

Cheers in advance

I agree with you're comment! You're not a stuck up prune like the other woman stated, you are being realistic! A pram is very important to have.

Zombie

It takes 3 weeks. People that recieved it in a week were lucky and the posts were from 2007, it's August 31st 2016. I posted it Tuesday 23rd July and they said I'd get a decision by 13th Sept. Absolute joke

ShannonOliviaa · 31/08/2016 16:55

I've just sent my forms off now 31/08/16. Seen mixed comments, people saying it took a week and others saying 3 weeks. Hopefully will get a response in the next couple of weeks! Will let you know!!

Twinmummy82 · 02/09/2016 10:10

Maybe you should just be grateful your getting free money. No matter how long it takes.

beckypressley · 29/05/2017 16:29

Hey I applied for the maternity grant 2 weeks ago and haven't received a text or any letters or heard from them an I'm worried as I was hoping to buy a pram and decorate the nursery I'm 37 weeks now so scared I'm not getting it

beckypressley · 29/05/2017 16:29

Don't need to be so morbid

Boyle123x · 22/09/2017 18:27

Hi this is my first time using this page and not really got a clue lol , I sent away for a maternity grant on Wednesday and was wondering how long it would take to hear back from it? I am 19 working 42 hours a week on a low income as I am a apprenticeship so would I still be able to get the grant or not?

Keelz1210 · 24/11/2017 05:01

Victoriamummytobe · 06/01/2018 16:08

Southpawboxer · 25/04/2018 18:59

Good Afternoon Ladies,

Beth16watson · 19/06/2018 18:57

chloem93 · 13/09/2018 19:47

Bloated1997 some people need the help and if the help is there, why not use it? Obviously you've never had money problems or struggled by saying that, but for most people £500 is a lot of money that can help to buy a big purchase like a pram which can cost more than 500, the 500 just helps towards it. There's also a free baby box people can claim if they meet certain criteria, for a baby's first bed. Guess you don't agree with that either? 😂

LucyLou19 · 14/09/2018 09:16

@chloem93 let me guess people who actually go to WORK for a living every day are not entitled to any help? Guess not 🙄

captainshortie · 14/09/2018 11:57

@LucyLou19 its rare people who work full time are entitled to anything, like help with childcare. Only entitled to so many hours yet people who dont work get all the help god sends. Even tho they dont work so dont 'technically' need childcare. Just because we work doesnt mean we can 'technically' afford it.
But also doesnt mean we cant afford to look after baby either. You make a plan. And make it work.

I hope ill be entitled to this sure start thing as £500 will be a big help once baby comes and my wage suddenly drops to below average!

Grandad11 · 08/10/2018 23:10

Hi i sent my maternity grant form off Thursday does anyone know how long it takes for them to get back to you??

asda5678 · 09/10/2018 10:47

Hi just a question regarding maternity grant if anyone can help. This baby is baby number four which was. Huge surprise to me especially due to the fact I don’t work anymore I have never applied for a maternity grant before as I have always worked but due to this being baby number 4 does anyone know if I would still be entitled to this .

Htaylor182 · 09/10/2018 13:20

@asda5678 have a look on gov site. Usually you only get it if its your first child and on certain benefits. if you have multiple children you might qualify if this pregnancy is a multiple birth one

Jesslou17 · 28/12/2018 10:06

Hi guys i sent my sure grant form last Friday though the job as there said there would send it off how long does it take plz guys

Winona1 · 28/12/2018 11:10

@LucyLou19 your comment is spot on!👍🏼 I won't be entitled to a penny because me and my partner work full time! And there's people moaning on this thread because it's taking too long for them to receive their free money. It's a joke

Lisaloobyloo11 · 26/03/2019 10:04

Hello can anyone help
Has anyone applied for that maternity grant from job centre

I have received a text saying they have my application and I will hear back within 10 working days but haven't heard anything
So I ring up and apparently its not on system
But I've received the text so I'm frustrated

Has anyone had this problem ?

EmilyChristina88 · 10/04/2019 18:54

Hi just wanting some advice. I applied for my site start maternity grant and I received a text saying they had recieved my application and would get back to me with a decision within 10 working days, I got this message on the 26th March and still not herd anything back yet. Anyone else had this before or any advice on what I should do next? Thanks.

Emmalii · 29/05/2019 15:51

Hi emily
I received a text on the third of may saying that i will get a decision in 10 days .. no decision yet .. i’ve tried to find a helpful phone number but i couldn’t find one.. i really don’t know what to do.. if anyone has the number it would be very helpful if they can share it

Sarah1919 · 11/06/2019 23:03

I sent my form off a couple of days before I was 11 weeks due then I get a text saying I should be contacted about my maternity grant in 10 working days on the 24th and should of heard something by Monday but still nothing does it mean I don’t have it or do I just need to wait as no money in the back and no letter has came though so what should I do 😢😡

Lux96 · 18/06/2019 19:53

Hey,

I sent off my maternity allowance and SSMG on 23rd May, got a text the following day for DWP receiving my maternity allowance form and a another text on 30th May for DWP receiving my SSMG form. No letters to this date of posting this comment have I received any letters.

It's standard for the maternity allowance to kick in, however I have waited for more than the recommended 10 days for the SSMG. I have the number to call for DWP: 0800 169 0140.

I've tried to call them all day yesterday and today and just to warn you, they do not answer the phone. I was on hold for 30 minutes. It starts off with an automated answer machine which lasts 2 minutes talking about rubbish that doesn't have anything to do with SSMG and then they will ask you to press 1 for SSMG.

I'll try again tomorrow and keep this thread updated for anyones convenience.x
