Getting awful heartburn, anyone know if Rennies are safe to take during pregnancy?

Thanks

Yes

overthehorizon · 26/05/2019 10:25

Yes. It says so on the packet

FunkyColdMedina19 · 26/05/2019 10:28

Yes they're fine but I've found refreshers or love hearts (the sweets) work in the exact same way for a fraction of the price

Pipandmum · 26/05/2019 10:32

I down those almost daily then then I was prescribed Gaviscon which I found totally disgusting but I had really bad heartburn.

guiltynetter · 26/05/2019 10:34

yes, a two second Google could have found this out 😊😊 I lived off them in both pregnancies as I find the liquid medicine type antacids disgusting!

dementedpixie · 26/05/2019 10:35

Yes, I used them in pregnancy. I couldn't drink gaviscon as the consistency made me sick

userabcname · 26/05/2019 10:39

You can also take Ranitidine which is a lot more effective. My midwife told me to take them as I have dreadful heartburn too.

SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 12:12

@guiltynetter thanks but I tried and got a mixture of answers.

@overthehorizon thanks for being sarcastic, it's much appreciated. Currently not going out unless absolutely necessary due to severe sickness so I'm not going to go and "read the packet" unless I'm sure they're safe. Don't comment if you're going to be rude.

@FunkyColdMedina19 thanks for this tip I can't take Rennie's on the anti nausea meds I've been prescribed for sickness so if they work it'll be a huge help.

@SillySallyStruthers you can't take Rennie's/gaviscon/deflatine if your taking certain anti biotics or anti nausea meds so just check if you taking anything else what's safe to take with them. But if your not on anything else they are all fine in pregnancy.

Murfs · 26/05/2019 14:23

I find Gaviscon more effective. Its pricier but I think if you go to the likes of B and M you can grab some big bottles! I had onebeside the bed, one in my handbag and one at my desk in work x

TokenGinger · 26/05/2019 15:22

@SillySallyStruthers - I think you're the rude one. Totally no need for that response. You clearly have a chip on your shoulder. I took the PP's comment of saying it says so on the packet as extra reassurance that you can, because like you say, there's mixed responses online.

qj17 · 26/05/2019 15:28

Get gaviscon on prescription from your gp it's was costing me an arm and a leg but they can prescribe a huge bottle for you. Saying that I'm finding nothing works.

SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 15:32

@Farmmum7 are they cyclizine? I've been taking those but they don't seem to be making much difference

OP posts:
SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 15:33

@FunkyColdMedina19 ah that's a much more fun alternative SmileGrin

OP posts:
SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 15:33

@TokenGinger thanks for your helpful response

SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 15:34

@KatnissK I'll give that a look thanks!

@qj17 I hope you find something that helps soon Sad not easy is it! Best x

How are people meant to know you aren't going out. Your response was unnecessary and people are trying to help you.

SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 15:37

@Cuppa12345 idk, maybe not assume that I'm thick and can't read a label? Obviously I'd have checked this if I had the option before posting omg GrinWink
I appreciate the help!

@overthehorizon if I took your comment the wrong way, I apologise.

Farmmum7 · 26/05/2019 15:41

@SillySallyStruthers I'm on stemetil they don't stop me from feeling sick but they do stop the vomiting as long as you take them in time. A couple of times I've taken them too late and ended up still throwing up. The sickness sucks

SillySallyStruthers · 26/05/2019 15:42

@Farmmum7 thanks - I could have used those a few weeks ago! I hope it gets better for you

TooMinty · 26/05/2019 15:43

I found gaviscon worked better - I kept a bottle next to my bed to slug from during the night.
