Hello!
I'm 21 weeks exactly tomorrow and had my 20 week scan last Saturday and found out me and my partner are having a girl.

Just thought it would be nice to chat to other mums to be, as I'm only 26 and I'm a bit nervous and excited both at the same time and trying to figure out everything I need and how to prepare is quite daunting haha!

I'm due on the 4th October and wondered if anyone on here is a similar time frame to me ! X

I’m a first time mum but had my little boy back in February.

Just wanted to pop on to say congratulations! Hopefully, you’ll find some other new mums to be as it can be surprisingly quite hard at this age (I’m 25) to find other mums of a similar age.

Saydz92 · 23/05/2019 21:48

Congratulations!! How are you finding everything ? X

Thank you! Grin

Honestly, the first few weeks were a bit of an emotional whirlwind. I did not expect just how up and down I would feel. But already miss the newborn stage!

It’s amazing. I’m very lucky to have a very smiley baby. He’s hitting all of his milestones so far and it’s fascinating to watch him develop and change every day.

I’m breastfeeding and he has a couple of allergies so it was a rocky start.

How’re you finding pregnancy?

Have you thought about whether you’ll bottle or breastfeed?

Daffodil2491 · 23/05/2019 21:59

Hi, congratulations! I’m 27 and due 19th October, if you search First Pregnancy Friends there’s a few of us on that thread that someone started not long ago, everyone is lovely if you fancy joining us x
Congratulations @GrumpySprout too! I want to breastfeed! Really hope I can! X

Saydz92 · 23/05/2019 22:03

Well it's good to hear your doing well :) I imagine it's even tougher than what you can imagine but well worth it !!

I'm finding pregnancy okay Thankyou! Was quite ill up to 13 weeks but now I just feel normal again and still don't feel pregnant (even though a bump is making an appearance) sounds so naive but didn't even know how big / small your stomach your stomach would be at 5 months! I just look bloated I think. It's the awkward stage where you can see people are starting to look but aren't sure whether to comment haha!

I think once I start to feel her move properly I will feel pregnant but for now just feel normal!

I have in mind to bottle feed which I know people will judge! I'm not saying no to breast feeding just not sure if that's what I feel comfortable doing but I suppose time will only tell ! X

Thanks @dafodil! RE breastfeeding, Lanolin balm and a big bottle of water will be your best friend Smile I think I was pretty naive when it came to breastfeeding, I had no idea about clusterfeeding/Allergies/Reflux/Tongue Tie and just how long it would take for him to feed Blush it’s an amazing experience though and something I’m glad I persevered with.

@Saydz definitely no judgement here, fed is best! Do what’s right for you, I’ve also heard bottle fed babies sleep better and go for longer between feeds. It also means DPs can get involved and help with the night feeds which is a bonus!

Ugh, I remember the nausea! Poor you! Glad to hear you’re on the other side of it.

RE a bump, I remember thinking I was huge at around 16 weeks and then by the time I was 40 weeks, looking back I think I was bloated Grin

Feeling the movements is the nicest feeling! I’m kind of jealous that you’ve got all this lovely stuff to look forward to Wink

Saydz92 · 23/05/2019 22:15

@GrumpySprout I think I felt first movements last week like little summer saults and only had a slight feeling since but she looked very active on the screen when I went for my scan last week so hopefully in the next few weeks I'll start to feel much more. My fella is really excited to feel movement! He keeps putting his hand on my stomach thinking he will feel something haha!

I'm happy to try breast feeding for sure never rule it out it is a natural thing. Just got so much to sort of prepare for as a new mum and I just constantly feel a bit stressed and worried about people judging with regards to anything baby related and just wanna be able to do my best :) x

Congratulations @Saydz92 Smile

I am 18 weeks and due 24th October. I am also a first time mum and will be nice to have someone to talk to in a similar situation x

Andrea91 · 24/05/2019 07:00

Congratulations! I'm 27 and due first baby 26th September :). Dont know if having boy or girl because they were in awkward position. Hope all going well

SRK16 · 24/05/2019 07:41

I’m 21 weeks tomorrow, due 5th October! Feeling pretty good at the moment (apart from dead arm from whooping cough vaccine). Have been feeling baby move for the last two weeks and I love it 🥰, seems to be more active late afternoon/evening. My husband is also desperate to feel it!
I’ve got a massive bump and look properly pregnant, which I’m putting down to my poorly toned stomach muscles! Can’t imagine how big I’ll be by the end. Really excited and starting to think about buying some of the bigger items/decorating.

Kathryn19 · 24/05/2019 09:18

Quite a few younger mums on here! I've also popped across from the first time mum's thread to say hi. I'm 26, and due my first baby August 23rd. Haven't come across many my age except online - women at my work tend to have their kids a bit later on.

Saydz92 · 24/05/2019 11:50

@SRK16 can't believe our due dates are a day apart !! Smile have you felt any slight movements yet?

OP posts:
Saydz92 · 24/05/2019 12:09

@Andrea91 did you want to find out the sex or not? I think you can ask for another scan if baby is positioned funny ?

OP posts:
Andrea91 · 24/05/2019 13:21

Yes desperate to find out just so can stop referring to bump as it or bum lol. I have more than normal amounts of scans due to a health issues so now only have to wait till 28th may :)

angelix · 24/05/2019 13:28

Hey @saydz92 - I'm about a week ahead of you, currently 22 weeks and due on 28th September. First baby for us too and we're having a girl 🤗
I'm finally starting to enjoy pregnancy and I'm feeling a lot less anxious now than in the early stage which is nice. Still sick though 🤢 but I find that strangely reassuring 😂

missrose0110 · 24/05/2019 13:37

@Saydz92 I'm 21 weeks today and due 4th October, so same dates as you. I'm 23 and this will be our first child too. We're having a little boy. Doesn't quite seem real yet. Has it hit you yet? Xxx

Bleep18 · 24/05/2019 14:17

I'm exactly 21 weeks today too! Due October 4th. I found out the gender yesterday which is a boySmile(also first time mom)
Congratulations!

Saydz92 · 24/05/2019 15:42

@Andrea91 fingers crossed you get to find out next time then Smile

OP posts:
Saydz92 · 24/05/2019 15:44

@missrose0110 hello ! Congrats :)
No it's not hit me that I'm having a baby yet! I don't feel pregnant in the slightest I think I'll be more excited once I start to feel her move. At the moment I just feel like I've put a bit of weight on and that's about it. Just been shopping with my mum to get some bits of clothes but ended up getting stressed because I've no idea what I actually need ha! Hope your doing okay with everything

OP posts:
Saydz92 · 24/05/2019 15:47

@angelix I was hoping for a little boy and everyone was convinced it was a boy ! So it was a big shock to find out I was having a girl last week! You know when your mind is set on something. Either way she will be loved just as much :) how are you finding it? Are you organised with buying things? I keep asking as many people as possible what to get etc but starting to panic a bit that within 5 months she will be here and I have no idea where to begin! Ive got all the big stuff out of the way like pram and car seat and Moses basket etc just the small stuff I've no idea where to begin

@Saydz92 yes feeling movements, such a weird feeling but I love it 🥰 are you? I’ve noticed it more in the evenings and after I eat sugar!

Saydz92 · 24/05/2019 17:27

@SRK16 slight movements I know what you mean about night time !

OP posts:
EnjoyItAll · 25/05/2019 08:27

congratulations! My little boy is set to join us 19th September. I was convinced I was having a girl so was shocked when they said boy and asked to recheck Blush would have been over the moon either way but I had convinced dh he was wrong so got a few told you so!
