I'm 15 weeks. Our plan is not to buy anything until after 20 weeks but I think aim to buy most things around 30 weeks

We are going to get a Mountain Buggy. Once of my brothers had one and not only was it a nice pram and easy to use it lasted them 9 years for all 3 of their children!! They live in the sticks and it wasn't wrapped up in cotton wool either!

Cuppa12345 · 20/05/2019 10:04

I think I got mine at 30ish weeks. Bought it online, ickle bubba stomp. Was reasonable for a brand new travel system with isofix base and I've been happy with it

Teddybear45 · 20/05/2019 10:06

I am in the UK so can use wishlists etc to order and then get delivered closer to the time. Even then I probably won’t really order anything until after 30 weeks but I have complications so need to make sure there’ll be a baby. If you have a straight forward pregnancy there’s no reason why you shouldn’t buy earlier.

Teddybear45 · 20/05/2019 10:07

I’m liking the babyzen yo yo at the moment, but also like the icandy.

Angelinthenightx · 20/05/2019 10:18

I was thinking the same about 28/30wks,i have had prem babies so i like to be sorted by 30wks ish . Im thinking the bugaboo fox this time.

Ooh I haven’t seen that one. Do you have a link?

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 20/05/2019 10:28

I ordered mine at around 20 weeks and picked it up closer to 30. If you order from the likes of John Lewis they will usually store it for you free of charge until you are ready to pick it up.

I have an iCandy Peach that we got in 2017 and will likely be converting it to a double when DC2 arrives in January. We also have the Babyzen Yo-yo and use that for trips to the shops etc, travel systems can be so heavy and bulky. I only really use the iCandy for walks around my neighbourhood now. Ones that fold down in one are definitely best imo!

21 weeks pregnant, brought joie chrome dlx travel system.

Rememberallball · 20/05/2019 11:19

I’m 20+4 today and bought my travel system at The Baby show at the weekend. I got a discount on the catalogue price and negotiated a discount on the company’s changing bag (though they don’t offer it in the same fabric as I’ve purchased the travel system in) by getting it now (as I did with some other big price items I bought at the weekend) just waiting for them to deliver it all now!!

BellaNutella88 · 20/05/2019 12:24

I ordered mine at a baby show when I was 20w+1. We had already been looking and wanted to make the most of discounts at the show so bought quite a bit then. It arrived when I was about 23 weeks. We went for the UppaBaby Cruz but we looked at loads and tried them all out first so I knew exactly what I wanted.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/05/2019 12:28

I am 24+4 and havent bought yet! Cant make my mind up!

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 20/05/2019 17:00

We got ours at 18 weeks which is a bit early for some people, but I had a small car at the time and only a few would fit in my boot and a sale came up with a really good deal on the cosatto wow full travel system , so PIL bought it for us (after we said we were going to buy it, they didn't just go ahead, they're nice in-laws!) . I'm not superstitious at all.

purplemama1990 · 20/05/2019 17:04

We got ours at around 30 weeks I think, and decided to go for the baby jogger city mini gt rather than an actual travel system / pram. I liked that it folds with one hand into just one piece, rather than having frame and seat / carry cot separate etc.

Gillian1980 · 20/05/2019 17:09

About 20 weeks I think as it was on offer then. My MIL had a bit of a meltdown about it being in the house as she’s superstitious.

We just got it out of storage at 35 weeks ready for No2!

Disneymum1993 · 20/05/2019 17:29

Im 25 weeks with dc3 i got a silvercross wayfarer and a silvercross balmoral for special occasions

kgeal3 · 20/05/2019 17:56

I'm due in October and will order the pram in September. Purely because I don't want to buy too early and then change my mind by the time baby is here and because we don't have a lot of storage space in our home

MsSquiz · 20/05/2019 18:00

I think we are going to order ours around 20 weeks and either have it delivered nearer my due date (23rd December) or have it delivered to my SIL's house so we can set it up there (I'm too superstitious to have it at our house)
We are pretty sold on the bugaboo fox. We've used SIL's donkey for her twins and it's easy to manoeuvre, and not too heavy to push even with the twins in. We've had a look at the fox in John Lewis and it's really light and easy to use

sugartitz · 20/05/2019 18:02

Bought it at 16 weeks when we knew what sex baby was

happymummy12345 · 20/05/2019 18:04

I'm superstitious so wouldn't get anything until the month before I was due. I got the bare minimum I needed for hospital, and things like the pram were delivered to my mums a week or so before my due date. All I had at home was what I needed to take to the hospital.

NorthernRunner · 20/05/2019 18:08

Hey 👋🏻
My husband and I have actually decided not to both buying pram until after baby arrives, maybe around 8week mark.
This is mostly because we didn’t use it very much with DD at first (it was a freebie so didn’t cost us anything anyway) she was in the sling all the time.

As baby number 2 is due in August I think we are even less likely to use it straight away. Obviously I appreciate this isn’t practical for everyone, but we are in no rush to buy a pram! X

flumpybear · 20/05/2019 18:10

I bought mine when I was around 30 weeks. We opted for one that folded up easily and fitted my car (check this it's important!) and had room for shopping (not enough actually!) forward and rear facing and also took a car seat and crib as well as pushchair

I needed one that could go off roaring too as we spent a lot of time by rivers and across fields etc

TheCraicDealer · 20/05/2019 18:35

I ordered mine at 13w. I had been looking at prams for a while so had a good idea what I wanted by then, it was just a case of seeing how they look/fold/push in person. It was through a local nursery store so they build it, store it until you want to collect it and it was a £200 deposit- we've been chipping away at the balance since. I'm due in September and we've only got about £200 to go, and if something does happen we get our money back. Independent stores are often more competitively priced anyway.

A colleague's DD ordered hers at the same point in her pregnancy and asked the nursery store owner if that was "early"- she said she's had some orders at 4, 6, 8 weeks, so not really!

00100001 · 20/05/2019 18:40

We got ours throughout from around 10 weeks to spread the cost.

Most of it was second hand. Except car seat and mattress

NotSoThinLizzy · 20/05/2019 18:40

My mum won't let me keep a pram in the house until baby is born as its apparently bad luck 🤣 we are getting ours around the 30 weeks mark

Cuppa12345 · 20/05/2019 19:03

Notsothinlizzy - I hate all that superstitious crap. When you miscarry, you overanalyse every tiny decision and the less emphasis we place on old wives tales the better. Bad luck indeed.
