Hi

Got DD aged 3. Had morning sickness with her but I was not prepared for it to be this bad this time round! I’m really struggling.

Not actually being sick but feeling so so rough. Calorie intake has halfed, not even really drinking. Hammering the gaviscon. CBeebies on all the time! Do have a great DH but worried about how I’m going to get through work the next few weeks and the commute to work on a rancid, packed commuter train.

I guess I’m just having a moan (!) and also asking - was your MS worse with DC2 and how long did it last? I’m 7+3.

Thanks ladies.

Yes, mine was much much worse, and started even before my period was due. At the time I ascribed the difference to gender but I think it can just be different each time regardless. Mine lasted about 12 weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

SoCallMeMaybe · 19/05/2019 08:30

Yes absolutely. I had a two and half year old and the time and it was hell on Earth.

Hang in there Flowers

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 08:39

Thanks ladies.

Why is it so much worse second time, I wonder what the science behind it is?! Yeah tiredness from toddler doesn’t help but it’s definitely the sickness itself thats on another level. Even tempted to make myself sick this morning just to help ‘get it off my stomach’.

Oh remember it well ☹️

DS1 no sickness
DS2 sickness continuously until 16 weeks, it was absolutely horrible. Had to get tablets from GP in end as couldn’t get out of bed and had DS1 so had to be able to function.

Hope it passes soon.

Passmeabrew · 19/05/2019 08:49

I think part of it is that you just cant 'indulge' yourself/the sickness in the same way the second time around as well. You have to keep going for the eldest which takes it out of you which always made me feel more sick and you can't avoid your triggers as easily when you have someone else to feed and sort out all day! Do what you can to get through. Cbeebies is your friend, don't feel guilty!!

Tilly28 · 19/05/2019 08:50

I’m pregnant with #3 and the nausea this time is so much worse than both previous pregnancies. I’m 10+3 and still feeling rough :-(

keepingbees · 19/05/2019 08:56

Mine got better with each pregnancy. The constant nausea is horrible I feel for you. I did used to find being sick helped rather than trying to fight it. Sipping ice cold water helped me and also keeping blood sugar stable.

Sleepycat91 · 19/05/2019 08:59

Pregnant with number 2, DS is 5 now and i wasnt this rough with him. Im 7+4 and it feels like a lifetime already. If i dont eat constantly im nauseous or hurling all day. I feel rough as badgers ass in all honestly.

blackcatclocks · 19/05/2019 09:05

Yep 😭 so much worse. My first pregnancy I had it bad but it stopped at 16 weeks and it was quite predictable, this time I'm still going strong at 20+ weeks and it surprises me out of no where ☹️

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 09:07

Thanks ladies, this has helped!

It’s finding something you can face eating too isn’t it that’s half the challenge. And then having it presented to you on a plate without you cooking it - which with a toddler and DH who can’t cook for is unlikely to happen!

Oh god still there at 20 weeks?! Noooooooooo! Really feel for you.

Mine was so much worse - ended up in hospital being rehydrates! The nausea is the killer as it's debilitating but invisible! Hope yours fades sooner than mine (about a week after delivery)!

anothernotherone · 19/05/2019 09:12

It's random I think. I had bad morning sickness (all day nausea, having to stop driving to vomit, having to leave the supermarket to vomit due to strong smells in there, having to run out of rooms at work to get to the ladies in time to vomit) til about 16 weeks with dc1 and 2, but nothing with dc3, in fact I kept forgetting that I was pregnant with him!

JamieNotJames · 19/05/2019 09:19

Yes, mine was much much worse in second pregnancy!

DS was your typical morning sickness. Started at about 8 weeks, felt rough, threw up a couple of times and then tailed off by about 12 weeks.

With DD........ felt queasy almost straight away, constantly felt ill. Had days where I'd be throwing up up to 20 times in the day, had to take time off work and lasted up until about 23 weeks!
I knew at that point she was going to be a handful, and I was right!!!

bearface45 · 19/05/2019 15:29

It’s been much worse with my second and has lasted longer, 14 weeks just starting to feel better last few days. It’s hard work early on x

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 17:30

Thanks ladies. In my head it’s going to end at 12 weeks but maybe that won’t be the case going by some of these stories! 🤢

PolarBearBubbles · 19/05/2019 17:32

Another one to say YES! Also not actually sick but felt so rough. With DC1 it ended at 12 weeks, this time felt absolutely exhausted and rough for 15. But second trimester felt amazing. Fingers crossed you do soon!

Soov567 · 19/05/2019 19:20

Definitely worse this time! With DS I had some nausea and food aversions which went by 16 weeks.
I’m 6+4 now and had to go to out of hours doctor for emergency appointment today as I can’t keep anything down. Was prescribed cyclizine, just hoping it works. Has anyone else taken it and found it helped?

MerlinsBeard87 · 19/05/2019 19:28

I'm 7 weeks with No3 and it's so much worse. Feeling depressed that I've probably got a few more months of this ahead of me

Beldon · 19/05/2019 19:42

None at all with first 2 pregnancies. Almost constant nausea and some sickness with 3rd, it’s been awful. Lasted until I was about 19wks. Weirdly I found chewing peppermint chewing gum helped the most - I normally hate chewing gum

NauseousMum · 19/05/2019 20:17

Mine is dc2 (hopefully), pregnancy 3 and yes it's so so much worse then dc1. Im more tired and emotional too do that only adds to it.

9 weeks and not expecting any relief as i had it through most of my 2nd trimester with dc1.

I sympathise with you so much. It's horrible. The payoff is great but i do long for the sickness free pregnancies some friends have had.

DizzyMerry · 19/05/2019 20:24

Definitely worse second time! I was only ever sick once a day up until 12 weeks with DD but with DS I was sick many times through the day and night. I felt incredibly rough and could barely get out of bed. It lasted until 20 weeks and nothing helped or eased it. The Dr point blank refused to give me any medication Hmm

Hope it eases up for you soon as I know how debilitating it is.

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 20:24

A lot of people in the same boat it seems!

Soov567 Let me know what the tablets are like, hope they work.

The food aversions are savage as I love food and drink. Normally I only drink water really (plus bucketloads of coffee...) but can’t stomach it at the moment 🤢.

Also the burping!! Christ. At least every few minutes.

OP posts:
Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 20:29

I’m really sorry to say yes it was much much worse. And when it finally wore off about 6pm the burping would start, and was unbelievable.

I got some anti nausea medication at about 16/17 weeks, and I can’t recommend it enough. Go to the GP and just demand it. They should offer it to all women at their booking in

Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 20:30

@Soov567 yes it does, and the best thing is that it makes you drowsy. My sickness used to come on at 1am on the dot so I hadn’t slept properly for 3/4 months by the time I got it
