Hi

Got DD aged 3. Had morning sickness with her but I was not prepared for it to be this bad this time round! I’m really struggling.

Not actually being sick but feeling so so rough. Calorie intake has halfed, not even really drinking. Hammering the gaviscon. CBeebies on all the time! Do have a great DH but worried about how I’m going to get through work the next few weeks and the commute to work on a rancid, packed commuter train.

I guess I’m just having a moan (!) and also asking - was your MS worse with DC2 and how long did it last? I’m 7+3.

Thanks ladies.

Passthecherrycoke It sounds tempting. I reckon I’ve got a month left in me of this.

I wasn’t coping by the time I got to taking the medication. My 12 week bloods came back high risk of DS and I just fell apart, it had been so hard to cope those 12 weeks (I also work full time and was hiding how poorly I was at work)

I did think I was being a wimp (WE’RE NOT!!) but the blood tests came back with a very high hcg level and I was told that would be what was making it so bad so I felt like I had evidence iykwim? Looking back I wish so much I’d gone and demanded drugs earlier. It was life changing

Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 20:38

That’s Down syndrome, not high risk of darling son lol

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 20:41

That sounds really really tough. There comes a breaking point doesn’t there. Can I ask was your pregnancy a girl with the high hcg?

I’m dreading this week at work - desk job high pressurised environment, open plan office, there will be no escape.

With my dd1 I was feeling sick mostly evenings, only threw up few times in whole pregnancy but mostly felt great. Tired in very first few weeks. Now I'm 8 weeks pregnant and I'm exhausted!!! Feel rough most of the day but when I go to toilet, nothing comes out, it's even more annoying.

Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 20:51

I’m due next week Gettingonabitnow and it’s a surprise so I don’t yet know whether it’s a girl. My first is, but I didn’t have much sickness with her x

Soov567 · 19/05/2019 20:59

Thanks passthecherrycoke, that’s really good to hear! Hope the last week is going well for you 😊

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 21:05

Oh wow - enjoy the last week and good luck!

I’m so glad to see this thread right now!! I honestly feel so sorry for myself, I am so ill I’m not functioning! Wondering how I’m going to manage the school run & work this week! I was sick but took a stomach bug last Monday! It was so severe but the nausea since has just left me completely useless! DH took last week off work as I couldn’t function, I also hurt my back today trying to hoover! I need to see a gp tomorrow I just can’t go on like this, 3rd pregnancy never experienced anything like this previously 🙈🙈😢 will cyclizine stop the continuous nausea??

Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 21:13

Yes it will! I promise get some cyclzine. It’s cheap for the NHS, doesn’t harm the baby and it works. No brainier! I cried my eyes out at the GP but could’ve also smashed her room up/ puked all over her of necessary because I wasn’t leaving without help. I was on my knees, as many of you lovely women sound Sad

Gettingonabitnow · 19/05/2019 21:19

AmC39 Oh god! Misery loves company - come on in!!

AmC39 · 19/05/2019 21:25

Thank you all so much for a little sympathy, have just started crying! 🙈lol DH is trying but no one is understanding this! Had a MMC at 12 weeks last year and this baby is so wanted! I am 9 weeks today and so hoping I don’t go through all this for it to happen again!! I need to see a GP tomorrow! My practice doesn’t offer one until the day after you call unless it’s an emergency 🙈 thanks for the support girls ❤️ Xx

Passthecherrycoke · 19/05/2019 21:35

So much sympathy. It’s just awful. Don’t underestimate how awful it is

SnugglySnerd · 19/05/2019 21:38

I felt exactly the same second time around. It's harder because you already have an older child to look after so you can't just sleep.
Also my second turned out to be twins. Apparently that could well be why I felt so tired and rough. So that's a possibility Grin

NauseousMum · 20/05/2019 06:32

Gettingonabitnow are you burping and heaving? Lump in your throat at times? It could be you have reflux too making the sickness worse. That's what i have and it's horrible, makes it somuch worse.

NauseousMum · 20/05/2019 06:39

There needs to be a bloody renaming as morning sickness sounds so blase. My dad said to me he thought it wasnt supposed to be that bad when he had to hold me up when heaving. He was shocked and thought you felt a 'big queasy when you first woke up'.

All day and night nausea heaving and vomiting sounds more apt. It is harder with a child. I just had to vomit in my toddlers potty and listen to him get upset at my heaving while i did.

TwittleBee · 20/05/2019 07:15

Ah so sorry its worse for you 2nd time round too (and everyone else here)

For me each pregnancy the sickness has got worse and this time I actually lost significant weight in 1st trimester.

But it has mostly gone now at 23 weeks at least (just occasional breakfast being thrown up now if I eat too quick or if I smell a strong coffee it seems!)

Gettingonabitnow · 20/05/2019 08:24

Thanks ladies.

NauseousMum - good name! Yeah I did wonder if it was acid, been hammering the gaviscon but not really making a difference.

Managed a bit of water before I left the house which is an improvement, just the train to contend with now...

OP posts:
NauseousMum · 20/05/2019 08:38

It's very apt Wink. No gaviscon did nothing for me either except sometimes make me vomit. Doctors can prescribe other meds that might help. It's worth going to ask.

They aren't a cure all but do take the edge off.

anitagreen · 20/05/2019 10:31

Hey @Gettingonabitnow I'm on my third pregnancy now and I'm really struggling with he morning sickness ,
in two days I've had some cereal only thing that seems to stay down. I heard that fresh ginger cut up into fresh boiled water is good for sickness I'm going to try that today I'm struggling to care for my other children atm you have my sympathy

anitagreen · 20/05/2019 10:32

With my son I wasn't sick just felt sick and I lost 4stone, with this one I dread to think how it'll go x

Gettingonabitnow · 20/05/2019 12:46

anitagreen That sounds really rough, I feel for you! I’m finding that fizzy drinks are helping as I can’t face water.

OP posts:
TwittleBee · 20/05/2019 13:06

oh ginger does not help me at all! Neither did those sick bands. And the advice of "eat a biscuit as soon as you wake up" was another one I heard all the time and didnt work.

Really annoyed me because I have a few friends who claim they managed to get over morning sickness by uncovering the secret of just eating little and often... yup nothing like that worked either but they didnt believe me.

Oh my sorry OP just ranting on your thread because I was sick again today after a couple days of no sickness stupid office coffee smell

anitagreen · 20/05/2019 14:01

@Gettingonabitnow thank you it's crap isn't it the first few months I'm hoping it levels of soon.
And @TwittleBee don't get me started on smells! My children wanted Swedish meatballs yesterday for dinner and the smell set me straight off Envy

Gettingonabitnow · 20/05/2019 14:40

I’m ashamed to say that even the smell of my toddler sets me off at the moment, particularly when she gets back from nursery.
