Stretch marks?

CastorTroyWantsHisFaceBack · 11/04/2019 15:35

Currently 31 weeks and have so far managed to avoid any stretch marks.

Before I get too cocky confident in my skins elasticity, when did your stretch marks kick in?

37 weeks....

SwimmingKaren · 11/04/2019 15:37

Right at the end for me too :(

DontPanic42 · 11/04/2019 15:42

Mine didn't show till after I had the baby......

CastorTroyWantsHisFaceBack · 11/04/2019 16:04

Oh bugger. I shall keep up with the bio oil but as I’ve already got stretch marks on my thighs from puberty, I think I’m buggered.

I keep thinking I'm going to be lucky and avoid them.. currently 35+3 but my friend got them after birth so very aware there's still time!

RosieEffect · 11/04/2019 16:18

I got one at 41 weeks and then then several turned up at 3 weeks postpartum! I mentioned my dismay to my husband and he asked why I was surprised...it's like the wrinkles in a balloon after it deflated. Sad I had thought I was home free.

Mummab3ar · 11/04/2019 20:09

Keeping hydrated and moisturised is only part of it, unfortunately its genetic. So, if your mum/ nan/ sister etc have them - chances are higher that you will too. I personally dont care that I have them they represent the fact I carried and nurtured life inside me. I wear my stripes with pride 😂!

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/04/2019 20:12

I never got any. And I was so hot all the time I couldn’t be arsed to moisturise much and lie around feeling sticky. It’s just luck, my mum never got any either but my skin is generally drier than hers so I didn’t think I’d get away with it, especially as I had some on my hips from puberty.

Helsvamp · 11/04/2019 20:27

Only got stretch marks with 1st child the other 2 I didn't. And none so far at 27 weeks

Pleasehelpimfreakingout · 11/04/2019 21:09

Dont lose hope, I never got a single mark (and I have stretch marks on thighs from when I was a fast growing teenager!)

IntoValhalla · 11/04/2019 21:11

Right at the end.
I didn’t have a single stretch mark until 36 weeks when DC1 turned head down, but stick her chubby arse out to the left. I have a cluster of stretch marks in the one area.
Didn’t get any new ones with DC2, but the old ones did stretch again and become noticeable again, but faded back to the silvery white sooner than after DC1.
I’m 17 weeks with DC3, and haven’t got any new ones yet.

seeingdots · 11/04/2019 21:13

Started at 37 weeks this time. But I got away with it entirely last time, you may be lucky!

Shmithecat2 · 11/04/2019 21:15

I never got any.

Expressedways · 11/04/2019 21:17

Never had any but DD arrived at 38+6, it may have been a different story if I’d gone overdue!

Byebyefriend · 11/04/2019 21:18

41 weeks

DaisyF1986 · 11/04/2019 21:19

I never got any Smile

CastorTroyWantsHisFaceBack · 11/04/2019 21:20

Ooo interesting that a few with them on thighs/hips never got any.

Fingers crossed.

Its genetic and creams will do absolutely nothing. The marks come from deeper in your skin than a cream can penetrate.

You'll get them or you won't, it's not in your hands, but you won't know you've escaped until you give birth. I'm covered in them from puberty, but I went full term with two babies without acquiring a single new one despite never rubbing anything on myself.

bellinisurge · 11/04/2019 21:23

I never got any either. Got loads of other stuff- hyperemesis, needed a Fenton's procedure for example.

daisypond · 11/04/2019 21:24

I never got any. Three children. No stretch marks at all.

InsertFunnyUsername · 11/04/2019 21:57

I never got any either, most women in my family were lucky too so i do put it down to genetics mainly. My friend had every single cream going and in the last week gained them, a year ish on i can't notice them on her tho!

annlee3817 · 12/04/2019 07:10

I got some on my thighs and a few thin ones on my boobs, but never got any on my bump :)

kgeal3 · 12/04/2019 10:04

Moisturising will help. I was constantly moisturising with all my babies (Im on baby 4 now) and I don't have one single stretch mark on my stomach but my mum is covered in them! I think it's just pot luck but I do believe the cocoa butter and bio oil has helped me

MBM18 · 12/04/2019 10:47

I didn't get any (my mum didn't either so maybe I take after her?) but did rotate between using bio oil, Moroccan oil and moisturiser every day so maybe that helped!
Just keep moisturising Smile

Waitingonasmiley42 · 12/04/2019 10:55

After baby 1 was born they all appeared. I had no visible ones before that on my stomach.
