@cakeordeath89 Glad it's not just me feeling that! I guess it's a case if there always being somebody worse off in life but we are still allowed a little moan about things anyway.

@Lozzlepop Ewww! 🐮 did you get your cup of tea in the end?

@LittleAndOften Sounds like a good idea :)

Bella1989 · 03/04/2019 18:13

I hope everyone is doing well! I pulled my back throwing up this morning! I had to laugh at how stupid it sounds!

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 18:34

@LittleAndOften I feel low and anxious during early pregnancy because I have a history of loses so I just find I can't enjoy it. This time each day I'm trying to remind myself nothing bad has happened yet so stay positive and take it a day at time.

@Pollypocket5 I really think home Dopplers are a very bad idea. They give false reassurance, a friend wife was sure she was picking up her babies heartbeat so didn't go in for reduced movements because she was confident about the Doppler. Wasn't her babies heartbeat at all it was the artery to her placenta and unfortunately the story has a very tragic ending.

At my 34 week appointment even a trained midwife couldn't find my DS2 heartbeat using it. She thought she had because couldn't be 100% so blue lighted me to hospital ... thankfully he was fine but I was terrified a midwife couldn't find it and they're trained professionals.

Ladies. I’m having a concern. I know what your answers will be, but I need to know anyway:
I’ve been spotting since 7+5, after a TV scan (MW said it could have bumped something 🤷‍♀️)
I have brownish discharge, approx 1/2 teaspoon daily, maybe less. Im not too worried about it, MW isn’t concerned and there’s nothing that can be done. Hcg levels fine, all the other symptoms (vom, nausea, tits like rocks).

I’m managing with panty liners. But I absolutely HATE them!! I feel so unhygienic! I feel like they smell weird! I work with dogs and they sniff me etc 🤮 just feels so eurgh! Why can’t I switch to tampons, if I change them regularly??? What’s the deal with this?

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 18:52

@Sessy19 risk of virginal infection

Sessy19 · 03/04/2019 19:07

Am I more at risk of infection than I’d i use a pad though? Infection will be more of a risk if I don’t change the tampon, but I will!

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 19:12

@Sessy19 you can google it yourself but from everything I've ever read the main concern with tampons is the increased risk for bacteria near the cervix. While the cervix is pretty good at blocking harmful bacteria from reaching the placental home of your baby, it's not a perfect mechanism. Also,It's hard to determine just how much you're bleeding if you can't see it

Sessy19 · 03/04/2019 19:14

No, it’s fair enough. Being pregnant fucking sucks!!! 😂

TrashKitten10 · 03/04/2019 19:16

@Sessy19 Tampons can cause toxic shock syndrome and I'm pretty sure that the risk increases from using a tampon too absorbent for your flow as they dry you out. As your 'flow' is so light, it really wouldn't be advisable to use a tampon. I feel your pain on pantyliners, they do often now have a horrible artificial smell, apparently Women’s bodily smells are so offensive that we need floral smelling foof products to cover it up HmmHalf a teaspoon over the course of a day doesn't sound like much at all, how about just wearing dark knickers and changing them if they're starting to feel a bit yuk. You can even now get super absorbent period knickers that are designed to be worn at full flow without any other protection. Probably a waste in our current conditions Grin but just shows that we don't necessarily need all these smelly period products to deal with our bodily fluids :)

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 03/04/2019 19:23

Sessy - Yes, it’s an infection risk. I’m sorry you feel gross. I’m sure nobody else can tell...and I’m sure the dogs won’t judge you Grin.

Yes, be really careful about home dopplers. I know a lot of midwives and charities (e.g. Kicks Count) are calling for them to be banned, because if you’re not trained you can easily confuse some of the (many!) sounds as being the baby’s heartbeat. There are too many heartbreaking stories of people ignoring reduced movements as they had false reassurance. Also, and I know this is really distressing and isn’t something we need to think about at this stage, the heartbeat is the last thing to go when your baby has a serious problem...so you may get some hints that something is going wrong (e.g. reduced movements) and if you go and get checked out they can act quickly and save potentially save your baby if there is a problem...whereas if you wait until you can’t find a heartbeat, and there really isn’t one, then nothing can be done Sad. I’m sorry that’s a HORRIBLE thought and sorry for having such a depressing tone, I’ve just had too many friends lose babies at term/late in pregnancy so I feel really strongly about “raising awareness” (not that I’m an expert or anything) Sad.

Anyway, really depressing message...someone come on and say some happy news! (I can’t because I still feel like total hell, especially after getting less than 3 hours sleep last night Grin.)

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 19:29

@TheGruffalosLoveChild ♥️ I feel similar

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 03/04/2019 19:34

Aww I’m sorry MintyPea5. Like others have said, we’re in such a fortunate position to actually be pregnant...but it can be seriously tough! It sounds like a lot of us are struggling at the moment Flowers.

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 19:38

On the upside DS1 is at his dads. DS2 is already fast asleep in his cot after a busy full day at the child minders and DH is picking up the best fish and chips for our tea as a treat to celebrate commiserate my return to work from maternity today Grin

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 03/04/2019 20:10

Sounds good! How was your first day back? Hope it went well.

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 20:36

@TheGruffalosLoveChild it wasn't too bad. I've been put into another job on return so I'm a little pissed off but it's ok I'm back working with lots of old friends and I'm off again in 6/7 months so I guess it's not all bad. Just got to work out how to tell them

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 03/04/2019 21:13

Oh that’s really bad (and potentially illegal)! Employers can be so shitty. Makes me mad Angry. I suppose at least you’re off again soon. Good luck telling them!

FirstTimeMama91 · 03/04/2019 21:19

Is it ok to have a hot water bottle on lower back? Sore back today and yesterday

Mintypea5 · 03/04/2019 21:27

@FirstTimeMama91 should be fine. I find I over heat really fast so maybe make it warm not hot hot. Hope you feel better soon xx

AcatcalledGary · 03/04/2019 21:54

@TheGruffalosLoveChild here is some happy news - had my booking appointment today. My god was it long! But starting to feel real now. Midwife was lovely but she’s leaving in a few weeks so will have a different midwife next time and it’s a job share so a little worried about continuity. Plus it was our wedding anniversary today - 4 years (though we’ve been together 12 years this year!)

happilyevernever · 03/04/2019 21:57

Hi all, I’m due early December but thought I’d jump on here just in case my LO came early. This is my second DC, my DS is 22 months old. Im only 18 so it came as a big shock to be having another but am now excited. Hope it’s okay for me to join in

Kaff83 · 03/04/2019 22:40

@acatcalledgary I'm not sure if this is any reassurance but the model in both London boroughs I had my first two in is that you don't have a named midwife so I'm not sure I ever saw the same one twice and it was fine. They have your notes to refer back to. I don't have the other alternative to compare it to though so who knows if thar would be better!

Mintypea5 · 04/04/2019 02:09

@AcatcalledGary I've only ever had different midwives. It's not too bad they have all your notes so can refer back and most of them are so friendly it's easy enough

AcatcalledGary · 04/04/2019 06:13

Thanks that is reassuring

MindyMoonstone · 04/04/2019 08:39

Welcome and congrats @happilyevernever!
