Getting induced today live birth thread

Well todays the day im getting induced my last induction was long and painful with drip and just gas and air so I'm kind of panicking.

Thinking of asking for a epidural would you recommend this ? I've had 3 other dcs all gas and air but i want to relax and enjoy this labour.

I've had another sweep at 9 this morning so waiting to see if any of this kicks anything off. I've already lost my plug with my last sweep I'm 2cm dilated and she could feel baby's head cervix is shortening.

I'm not at the stage they can break my waters yet though but they are saying the propress should get us there.

Anybody that is interested in following me to the birth of my little girl are more than welcome.

Good luck OP.
I’ve had three inductions, all with propess and then gas and air, so no ideas about epidural. Hope it all goes well and that it won’t take too long for you to meet your baby.

I’m sitting with my three month old baby asleep on me, and remembering his birth. Is it odd that I feel quite excited for you. I truly do not enjoy pregnancy but find labour is something I look forward to. ShockBlush

Looking forward to your update Flowers

VioletGInPlease · 12/03/2019 11:52

I hated my epidural (long story but I was forced into it) all I wanted was to move which you obviously can't do if you can't feel your legs 😅 I also hated the feeling of being completely out of control. The midwives and doctors dictated what position I had to be in and then physically moved me themselves. Very demeaning. Not sure if I just had a really bad experience or if that's normal practice for epidurals.
Good luck I hope your labour is quick and enjoyable 😊

AllTheCakes · 12/03/2019 13:57

Good luck OP!

I was induced with the drip and had an epidural with it. I really didn’t want the epidural but after speaking to the midwives I went with it and I am so glad I did! Apparently not many women labour on the drip without the epidural. I had a very relaxed labour on it which was relatively pain free. If you do decide to go for it, I would ask before you go on the drip as the contractions come on quickly and the process can take a while. Wishing you all the best.

UterusesBeforeDuderuses · 12/03/2019 14:04

I was induced and was on the drip for quite a while with just gas & air before getting the epidural, wish I'd gotten it earlier! Good luck for the labour! X

VioletGInPlease · 12/03/2019 14:15

Thank you just the drip sent me over the edge last time and i had a horrendous labour.

So i think if i need the drip I'm going to ask for epidural as i want to welcome my baby into the world calmly lol.

At what stage did your waters break or get broken xx

OP posts:
AllTheCakes · 12/03/2019 14:48

I had the pessary twice and they managed to break my waters after 48hrs of the pessary being in. My contractions never came on naturally so I started the drip a few hours after my waters broke. If it is looking likely that you will be going on the drip, remember you can’t eat or drink whilst on it so make sure you stock up on some food beforehand!

VioletGInPlease · 12/03/2019 14:59

Ooh it's seeming real now haha just hope my waters will break quickly or they can break them quickly.

Very very nervous bit disappointed my 2nd sweep hasn't done much haha she's clearly just very comfy xxx

How are you doing OP?

Samind · 12/03/2019 18:47

It is very exciting 🥰 I'm sitting having a cuppa watching television and you're in some part of the world having a baby 🤭 my pessary fell out after 15hours and baby was out in under 2. Waters didn't go til I was pushing. Good luck OP.

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 12/03/2019 19:12

Eeeek good luck OP!! Love seeing these threads as I'm booked in for an induction on Friday.... FTM so haven't a clue what to expect and very nervous! Had my first sweep Friday and lost my mucus plug Sunday, then had another yesterday as the first didn't work and have had another show this morning... so hoping I might start off naturally before Friday but we shall see! I was also told she could feel the head and I was 1cm dilated, but These bubba's always seem so comfy in there 🙊😂

Can't wait to see a photo of your beautiful bubba 😍

HJWT · 12/03/2019 19:15

VioletGInPlease · 12/03/2019 19:27

HJWT · 12/03/2019 19:31

HJWT · 12/03/2019 19:31

VioletGInPlease · 12/03/2019 19:34

Haha i get you he gets of scot free as my mum has the 3 boys tonight so he gets to go home and relax until i phone him.

Feel really jealous haha I'm just hoping the contractions get a bit closer and things progress so i can get my baba here and cuddle into her xx

I was induced, started induction with propess at 11am on the Friday morning, had second dose the following day and then the contractions really camped up. By 4am Sunday morning they were agonising and I begged for an epidural.
The epidural going in was fine and after that I felt so relaxed and had a nice Labour. I was so scared of having an epidural but it was fine and I really needed it.
Good luck x

VioletGInPlease · 12/03/2019 19:52

Thank you so much this was what i needed to hear as i was scared of having the epidural but scared of not having it lol.

I hate how hot the hospitals are too my feet are swelling just from the heat lol xx
