Anxiety prior to 12 week scan next week

Hello ladies, guess I’m just after reassurance, postive stories or just a general hand hold. I had a missed miscarriage last year and found out at my 12 week scan that the pregnancy had not got further than the later part of 8 weeks. This time around I have had an early private 9 week reassurance scan that showed a lovely heartbeat. I balled my eyes out but I knew it was only temporary reassurance. Now the big one is approaching the sick anxious feeling has set in and I’m just praying I don’t get bad news again. I still feel tired, bloated, crazy dreams etc etc but I’m just so scared!! It’s also my 30th birthday 3 days after and I don’t want my whole birthday ruined 😢 xx

Ah yes, I keep reminding myself that having two MMC in a row would be so unlucky and unlikely but I mean not impossible so I am a bit worried about it but common sense says it'll all be fine!

Good luck for Thursday, you'll have to tell us all about it xxxx

Something that crossed my mind and will hopefully reassure you too. As I sat there waiting to be called in for my scan on Monday, despite it being 5:45 ish there was lots of other couples/ladies with friends etc etc waiting to be scanned. So we seen a lot of people go in and come out happy with the biggest smiles and some even crying bless them. As I sat there I remember thinking when I was here last year and got my bad news they ushered us out the back room and out a separate exit so that we didn’t have to face all the smiley happy people when we left after finding out our sad news. So as I sat before my scan Monday watching all the happy people I felt envious that if this was their first experience of a 12 week scan like it was mine last year, that they are having the better experience and can probably go on to enjoy their first pregnancy with a little less worry than ya for example having being through loss. Although I know some in that room may of gone through the same thing. What I guess I’m trying to say is that there was around 9/10 couples I watched all came out smiling, so the chances of going through a mmc twice must be really rare and the chances are there is no reason that you will be the happy ones coming out too like I was - shocked happy and never felt so blessed and thankful!! ❤️❤️❤️ soppy hormonal post Xxx

You know what that is so true. The waiting room when we had the early scan this time was full of heavily pregnant ladies and I couldn't stand to be in there so DH and I sat in the hallway and I was absolutely convinced we'd lose the baby. After seeing the heartbeat and walking out with a scan I felt over the moon and it was something I never thought I'd feel, I literally couldn't imagine having a scan and being happy when I left. So who's to say I won't feel that way this time hey?? Fingers crossed 🌈🌈🌈

Kej13 · 18/03/2019 07:56

Off for my scan this morning, wish me luck!!! Xxx

Good luck to you. I also have my 12 week scan today after having a mmc at 12 weeks in November. We were told at the 12 week scan that there was no longer a heartbeat. So I’m feeling very anxious this morning but keeping myself busy. Let us know how things go xx

@Kej13 congratulations! I bet it's such a feeling of relief. I too had a mmc discovered at 12 week scan last year. These rainbow baby stories are giving me hope for my scan next week. Hopefully I'll be sharing my good news on here next week 🌈

VEM88 · 18/03/2019 17:12

Hey everyone, thank you for the messages. The scan went really well, phew! It was such a relief!! I’m 12 weeks and 3 days and due 27th September. All measurements were good. So excited and relieved! Told our family who are all over the moon and surprised as we had kept it secret.

Thursday is pretty soon. How are you feeling about it? @Lee54 xx

hannah9176 · 19/03/2019 05:21

So pleased I found this thread! My scan is tomorrow but I've woke up with a weird sense of panic/doom this morning. I also has a mc January last year and the morning I discovered the MC I felt the same as I do today. I'm probably just being paranoid but it's a hard feeling to shake. I had awful nausea/vomiting until about 10 weeks but for the last 10 days I've felt completely fine/normal/not pregnant apart from a little indigestion/bloating. Going to be a long 24 hours waiting for this scan!

winetomorrow · 19/03/2019 05:48

I remember so clearly at my 12 week scan wondering how in the world everyone I knew had been excited about theirs. I felt sheer terror just waiting for that heartbeat. I also had a missed miscarriage the year before so that was probably part of it. I now have a terrible toddler :) I hope all goes well for you x
