@thumper59 it'll go really fast once you've had the 12 week one too. Feels like 2 mins since ours, and now I'm 20+5! Roll on Friday for you! Don't worry about keeping up too much, it does go fast sometimes and life is gonna get busier very soon!
Thanks @bostonfern :-)
@chaosmoon @mrsof20118 definite growth spurt as a new batch of stretch marks have suddenly appeared! Sounds odd, but it's quite nice to have them, a clear sign baby is thriving and growing :-) I'm the same as you 20118, quite short, and my friend said yesterday I look "massive"! Thanks love! Haha.
@chaos I got "your baby's first year, month by month" and baby centre's "pregnancy - preconception to birth" they are both a bit dated but I can order books in so if there are newer editions in the online catalogue I can have a look.
Wow, that's so exciting! Does it feel super strange to basically get milk out of your boobs? When is your due date? I assume its very soon! Any news from @luckykitty13 yet??
@mrsc87 I've always had very sensitive nipples and I hate touching them or even brushing them myself, DH isn't allowed near them normally! I think I'm blocking out the idea of coping with a baby sucking on them 24/7. Will definitely try but if it's too awful or anything or I cant get desensitised, I'm not gonna put too much pressure on myself and will formula feed if necessary. I'll def persevere as I do want to ebf for as close to 6 months as i can, but definitely not blind to the misery and pain that it might cause. Might be fine though, who knows!
Oh no @eltzbee! Bloody lulled you into a false sense of security there! Hope it's a bit more sporadic and not as constant as before, at the very least!
Also, totally agree with your view on feeding. As long as the baby is fed and looked after, that's all that matters. It's personal choice. Despite the fact I do want to breastfeed, I was actually a bit annoyed at how the midwives I've seen so far have pushed it, one said "obviously we want you to breastfeed as it's best for the baby" when giving me leaflets about it. No mention of here's the benefits of breastfeeding, here's what may go wrong, and these are your options if it doesn't work for you. In my opinion that's what they should be doing, and considering the health of mum as well as the baby, as surely both are just as important! I remember watching an episode of GPs behind closed doors, and a breastfeeding mum was totally collapsing with her mental health due to not being able to take her meds due to bf, and was in such a state. She felt so guilty about switching to formula she had let herself get into that state. The GP had to convince her it was OK to use formula and basically prescribed formula feeding her baby as her treatment! Along with her meds. It really stuck with me.
And thank you, I feel a lot better today and I think I'm going to go back to work tomorrow. I know I have a couple of easy days, and I'm working the weekend to bump up my pay but weekends are usually easy too, so I think I'll be OK. Then I have some days off next week.
I'll be insisting I have a return to work meeting (guarantee nobody will do this unless I ask) and that they do my mother's risk assessment that they are meant to do at 19 weeks that nobody has done with me either. They have to take steps to ensure me and the baby aren't suffering health wise as a result of my work, and in my opinion, I am. Also, still no phone call. Literally nobody at work knows why I'm off. And I work in Healthcare! Lol. What a joke.
Mini essay!
