Boy

MrsWooster · 04/03/2019 18:38

Sex. Unless it's wearing a false eyelashes or wielding a toolkit, it doesn't yet have a 'gender identity'.

ReaganSomerset · 04/03/2019 18:42

Hard to tell from a scan, but I'd say gender-fluid. Or possibly neutrois?

Jaxtellerswife · 04/03/2019 18:42

Oh take a day off Hmm
I would say boy based on no knowledge just similar to my previous boy scans

ReaganSomerset · 04/03/2019 18:43

If you're on about genitals I'd say girl.

MamaDane · 04/03/2019 18:55

I'd guess the gender is a boy 😊

SparklySneakers · 04/03/2019 19:45

Could be non-binary or any of the other 70+ genders out there but I'll go with two spirit.
If you mean sex ie male or female then it could be either.

HTH

MamaDane · 04/03/2019 20:14

Oh and congrats OP. Flowers

Just ignore those being anal about gender/sex. Grin

BlueMerchant · 04/03/2019 20:15

Boy!

ReaganSomerset · 04/03/2019 20:54

MamaDane

It's actually quite an important distinction for a variety of reasons. Ask on the feminism board if you'd like to find out why. Or I can tell you my take on it if you DM me (I won't bother typing it all out if you're not interested).

If not, suffice it to say that we're not just being pedantic arseholes.

DonaldTwain · 04/03/2019 20:55

Woolly language leads to woolly thinking. In all sorts of areas, but especially this one atm

MamaDane · 04/03/2019 21:14

Reagan Best not to derail this thread, I think it's better that people make a new thread rather than to smugly lecture people on something besides the point.

OP Do you have any guess yourself, what the gender might be? Any intuition?

Samind · 04/03/2019 21:15

Boy

Bigonesmallone3 · 04/03/2019 21:18

I think boy based on that pic

Justus22 · 04/03/2019 21:42

I'd say boy based on what I've read but if you want someone to take a look that's got more knowledge there's a group on Facebook called 'gender prediction nub theory', they got mine right.

Must be exhausting being the rude, self righteous, language police.... Pretty sure new babies aren't offended by a word that is widely used to identify their biological sex with zero offence intended. I'd pick good manners and a kind nature over being an uptight, drama queen, who loves belittling people behind a keyboard.

Happymomma367 · 04/03/2019 22:01

I know op and she has had many miscarriages to be able to carry this baby! She had her scan today and was so excited and because some rude, uptight, vile people couldn't keep their horrible fingers off a keyboard she has ended up been really upset and feeling stupid. I recall a lot of places use the phrase gender. If you have nothing nice to say just don't say anything it all. For all the lovely comments thanks you but op won't be posting again I've told her to just ignore it and stay off now as people just can't be nice.

Mommaof3bubs · 04/03/2019 22:23

I think it's so sad how you have to make someone feel so rubbish about a word they use! What awful people. Stop been so rude and don't comment if you can't be nice. I think girl op and I hope you don't let any of these people ruin your special moment 😊

Whisky2014 · 04/03/2019 22:26

I think boy! But thats not based on anything really. I have a feeling I'm having a boy too :)

ReaganSomerset · 04/03/2019 22:35

@MamaDane

Best not to derail this thread, I think it's better that people make a new thread rather than to smugly lecture people on something besides the point.

I know, hence why I suggested you either DM me or ask the feminist section. Hmm

MrsXx4 · 04/03/2019 22:37

I’ve recently had my baby and just came on here to say that the hospital and all official scan letters refer to ‘gender’. We all know that it’s now become a thing to use ‘sex’ and not ‘gender’ but seriously it’s so bloody boring every time someone just wants to chat about their scan picture! I agree with the poster that said to take a day off!!!

OP congratulations and I think boy!

Justus22 · 04/03/2019 22:41

@happymoma367 I hope she's OK. Tell her not to feel stupid, the nasty, ridiculous trolls on here aren't worth a second thought. Please pass on the group I posted about on fb, they are super nice on there and will give her a more informed guess. Plus they use the term 'gender' in the group name so not likely to be those who 'love to be offended' type members. X

Mommaof3bubs · 04/03/2019 22:44

Hopefully op gets all the lovely messages to make her feel better. I feel so sad for her such an exciting day ruined by trolls who have nothing better to do xx

ReaganSomerset · 04/03/2019 22:45

Also:
a) I'm not trying to make anyone feel rubbish or belittled, but the distinction is important. Sex and gender are not the same and for the protection of women's rights that needs to be clear to everyone. Sadly, it isn't at the moment.
b) Call me names if you like - tbh I don't much mind.
c) It's not about offending the baby. The baby doesn't care.

Anyway, I shall bow out to prevent further derailing, but I suggest that anyone who doesn't see the importance of the distinction should do some research into it- start a thread on the feminism board and someone will explain it to you.

Good luck with the pregnancy, OP.

Oysterbabe · 04/03/2019 22:47

I only clicked on this thread to see if I'd win a bet with myself that the first comment would be a smug twat saying sex. So close.

Mommaof3bubs · 04/03/2019 22:48

Why still carry on posting your rubbish ? Hospitals refer to it as gender. Some of us aren't feminists so we don't care ? Go post there instead of ruining someone's day.
