Is there any way this isn’t a miscarriage? :( warning tmi

12 weeks 2 days
Big PV bleed last night; enough to soak through the mattress protector and right through the mattress. Lots of tissue but nothing identifiable.

I went to a&e- they could see pieces of passed tissue there, the bleeding had slowed to a regular period within 2 hours. Cervix was closed upon examination 4 hours later.

Still bleeding lightly today. More tissue when I tried to bath earlier.

I can’t get a scan until tomorrow and just want to be as well prepared as possible. I asked the gynae team, they said they can’t confirm. Paperwork said “threatened miscarriage”.

Is there anything else it could be?

In so sorry you're going through this, I started to miscarry on a Saturday and it was Tuesday before they could scan me and that wasn't conclusive, it was Friday, 6 days later, before they could confirm. It was awful so I know how you feel and I hope they're able to see you soon. It's the little shred of hope that kills you x

It might be too late for today but St Thomas’ has an early pregnancy unit that is self referral and open 8:30am - 6:30pm in the week and has availability at the weekend. It’s first come first serve and the wait can be a good couple of hours but I’ve found them brilliant.

Not sure what side of London you are but King’s College and St George’s hospitals both have similar setups to the above. Self referral, just rock up.

I’m sorry you’ve had such a bad experience. Hope you’re holding up ok xx

@MakeLemonade

Thank you, I tried Guys and St George’s - neither could see me today. One more day to go.

@Anyotherway What a disgusting show.

I had similar; I was bleeding at Christmas and went to A&E who didn't even examine me. They stopped scanning at 5pm and were happy to let me wait over the weekend! I found a private clinic who scanned me the following day.

Everything was fine Biscuit

MakeLemonade · 28/01/2019 19:06

Oh that’s crap @Anyotherway, I’ve previously just turned up and been seen (although it was about 9am to be fair!). Early pregnancy care really can be lacking, it’s so cruel to not know what’s happening in your own body. Good luck for tomorrow Flowers

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/01/2019 19:17

Op am so sorry you have been treated so badly, I feel really angry on your behalf. I hope you manage some sleep tonight.

littleV58 · 28/01/2019 19:23

@Anyotherway I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I had a miscarriage back in September and I must have rang about 6 times begging them to see me. I was 7 week weeks so a lot earlier than you, but at 12 weeks you'd think they'd get you in ASAP. I understand the NHS is stretched enough as it is, but this worry isn't going to do you any good, they should have fitted you in.

I'm currently 13 weeks myself and had a bleed at 7 weeks again and they couldn't fit me in so I did book a private scan. I just warned them I had bleeding the night before so they knew just incase. Please if you can't get in tomorrow, book a private scan. They are sometimes pricey but worth the reassurance if all is good. Rest up tonight and look after yourself ❤️

skyofdiamonds · 28/01/2019 20:30

Unfortunately, whether you have a scan or not is not going to change the outcome of the pregnancy.

You said you had 4 scans already in this pregnancy, so they know already that it is an intrauterine pregnancy and therefore no emergency surgery needed for an ectopic.

You sound like you have passed tissue ++, which isn't a great sign for the outcome, in my experience.

Wishing you all the best and hope you get everything you need ASAP.

Anyotherway · 28/01/2019 20:32

Thank you for your posts, you’ve a been very kind with your time

I’ll let you know tomorrow

Is there any reason why you have had so many scans already, are you under a consultant that could help you now? It is so cruel to leave you like this.

The waiting is so hard, but if it is any consolation to you, even if they did scan you yesterday, they often ask you to get a second scan a few days later as confirmation.

No that probably didnt help at all.

Really i can say nothing to make you feel better, i know because i have been there too. I am really sorry. I hope you will be ok x

Anyotherway · 28/01/2019 21:00

@3luckystars
I have some gynae issues, so it was never going to be straightforward

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this, OP.

Can you get to King’s? They have an emergency epu clinic every weekday morning, 9am-noon. They will prioritise you if you are in pain.

Megan2018 · 29/01/2019 10:40

We are all rooting for you, at least once you know what's going on you can deal with it and move on. Hopefully with good news but I imagine right now bad news is better than the torture of not knowing.

What an ordeal you have been through - I am sorry the care you have received has been so unfair. Good luck!
