Is there any way this isn’t a miscarriage? :( warning tmi

12 weeks 2 days
Big PV bleed last night; enough to soak through the mattress protector and right through the mattress. Lots of tissue but nothing identifiable.

I went to a&e- they could see pieces of passed tissue there, the bleeding had slowed to a regular period within 2 hours. Cervix was closed upon examination 4 hours later.

Still bleeding lightly today. More tissue when I tried to bath earlier.

I can’t get a scan until tomorrow and just want to be as well prepared as possible. I asked the gynae team, they said they can’t confirm. Paperwork said “threatened miscarriage”.

Is there anything else it could be?

I’m so sorry that you’re having to go through this wait sweetheart. I’m hoping that it’s not the news you’re expecting tomorrow. Flowers

Just wishing you all the best and good luck hunni 💐

My first bleed with my haematoma contained fleshy looking clots. I had had 3 x scan before it and nobody mentioned it to me at any of those. I don’t know whether it was not visible at those points or they don’t mention as it mightn’t mean anything in some cases (I.e. might not cause bleeding at all). I don’t want to give you false hope but just to let you know that.

You’ll know soon OP but I know how far away it seems just now. While understandable that the NHS is under pressure it’s not right to make people wait like this and the fact that the scan will change nothing is entirely beside the point.

Hope you can get some rest tonight.

I had a bleed with my first (24hrs) and was told by doc over the phone I'd miscarried when I hadn't . Second pregnancy I mc at 10wks there was no mistaking the pain and passed a large clot that was different than a blood clot.
Unfortunately you have to wait for the scan as that's the only thing that can tell you.
I'm crossing everything for a good result for you

Cariadxx · 28/01/2019 07:26

Fingers crossed for you.

For those saying they needed to scan to check the position, OP says she's had 5 scans already so clearly knows it wasn't ectopic.

I think they like to scan in EPAU because it's a better environment for bad news and also has the right professionals there for support etc rather than A&E. Also the skills needed for a baby ultrasound might be a bit different to your A&E sonographer? So more accurate in EPAU?

Rtmhwales · 28/01/2019 07:47

Fingers crossed for you. The waiting must be horrible.

CantRainAllTheTime · 28/01/2019 08:00

Keeping everything crossed for you, I'm so sorry this is happening. I have a story of hope and I have a story without hope, I don't think you need anymore but it shows that nothing is certain until you have been scanned and told without doubt the outcome.

Sweetbutpsychotic · 28/01/2019 09:35

Another subchorionic story here. I had this with both my pregnancies. They’re full sized kids now! My first big bleed was at 9 weeks and I went on to have them until 20 weeks. Utterly horrendous. Clots the size of my palm, soaked through the mattress. They only saw it on a scan when they were actually looking for it(after the bleeds). I never had any pain, just a heavy sensation before and after. Hope this helps. Will keep an eye out for your update x

danni0509 · 28/01/2019 12:33

Hi op any news Thanks

Anyotherway · 28/01/2019 13:51

Quite unbelievably I went to the EPU this morning and was told they had no slots available, that I’d have to wait until tomorrow.

Believe me, I’ve begged and cried. Apparently there’s no possibility. The EPU at my other local hospital has nothing until Wednesday.

That’s bloody awful. It doesn’t take long to do. Flowers I’m sorry.

December2018 · 28/01/2019 13:54

Omg that's terrible! I can't believe that at all!
I'm so sorry hun, try and keep your chin up sending hugs xx

Gruzinkerbell1 · 28/01/2019 13:56

I'm so sorry that you're being forced to wait for a scan. That's utterly dreadful.

Anyotherway · 28/01/2019 14:00

It is, isn’t it? The nurse’s suggestion was that I complain to PALS about the miscommunication between A&E and the early pregnancy unit, oh because that will give me an answer as to whether I’m still pregnant. I really don’t care for blame right now, I just want to know.

Princesspeachy0 · 28/01/2019 14:26

That's terrible! Surely it wouldn't have taken too long to give u a scan. :( have my fingers crossed for u.

Morgan12 · 28/01/2019 14:27

That is awful! Do you have a triage in your local maternity ward?

Anyotherway · 28/01/2019 14:36

@Morgan12 - it isn’t a walk in, or an emergency unit. They seem to just have “opening hours” and only scan a certain number of people a day. I’m amazed this isn’t seen as urgent.

Gruzinkerbell1 · 28/01/2019 14:41

It's really cruel to make you wait in limbo like this
