Hia everyone, keen to find out how you are all getting on and if little one has arrived yet? I'm currently still waiting patiently as our due date isnt for another 11 days. Some slight pain, lots of BH but nothing to make me think it's all beginning.

How about you guys?

Thanks everyone, just waiting for a bed! Eeeek

Olivecake · 23/01/2019 11:45

Congratulations jadem1990 and good luck today le42 - so exciting you will have your baby in your arms so soon!!

sirmione16 · 23/01/2019 12:58

More congratulations to all who've had little ones arrived.

Cannot wait now! Being induced at 40 weeks exactly tomorrow!! Feel like a kid on Christmas Eve! Today I submitted my university assignment, was typing up the last few references whilst pumping breast milk!! (Been advised medically I can, been leaking for a while and baby is coming tomorrow irregardless) it's quite an amazing thing seeing milk come out of my body - makes me really feel like a mummy already....!!!

Olivecake · 23/01/2019 13:05

sirmione16 so excited for you!! Hope the induction goes well and so happy for you that you’re already able to pump, that’s really amazing and you sound perfectly prepared for the new arrival!
Just curious, Is there a reason you’re being induced? I’m kind of jealous - my midwives won’t even do a sweep until I’m at least 10 days overdue and induction isn’t an option until 2 weeks after! So now I’m just hoping the baby will come by itself before that.

sirmione16 · 23/01/2019 16:20

@Olivecake I'm over the moon being able to pump too as I have severe eczema, breastfeeding has been proven to reduce it in the baby so giving him the best chance I can.

Reason I'm being induced is because he was measuring very large so it's precautionary mainly - I'm only if small frame myself and bump isn't massive so I guess it's to do with proportion and risk to the baby with his weight. I had sweeps from 38 weeks too to try and get things going. I've heard different areas operate differently in terms of how early "intervention" (as such) is offered though. If it's any re assurance, sweeps are said to only be 50% effective anyway - I had 2 and they made NO difference, didn't even bleed or discharge after or anything (sorry if TMI)

Olivecake · 23/01/2019 17:41

sirmione16 Ah that makes a lot of sense - yes I’d heard that sweeps only really work if the baby is almost ready anyway, I’m just not keen on the idea of waiting another two weeks to meet the baby as I’m getting bored and uncomfortable already! (today is my due date)
Good luck for tomorrow! Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight through all the excitement!

sirmione16 · 23/01/2019 22:10

@Olivecake thank you!! Maybe a spicey curry for your dinner tomorrow? Grin it's horrible being this uncomfortable, hope it ends soon for you too - got my fingers crossed x

sirmione16 · 25/01/2019 18:07

And he's here! Went in for induction yesterday had a pessary fitted at 2pm. 6am this morning it had fallen out - went to put another in and actually said not needed as ready to break waters!! Waters were broke at 8.50 and baby made his appearance at 12.50!! Just gas and air too, I'm so pleased and completely head over heels in love Grin

Olivecake · 25/01/2019 18:36

Congratulations! That sounds like a great experience and well done for managing on just gas and air 💪 Enjoy all the newborn cuddles!

Cariadxx · 25/01/2019 19:14

I've got my induction booked for 41 weeks. I'm 39+3 and the head still isn't engaged today at my midwife appointment. Getting really cranky now

le42 · 25/01/2019 20:13

Baby Alfie is here too, arrived at 2pm on Wednesday weighing 9lbs 2. Unexpectedly lost a lot of blood in the c section which has hindered my Colostrum production, been very frustrating I’m having him latch but I’m very dry so supplementing with a small amount of formula until we can get me milk in. Hard not to be disheartened but we are staying positive. On a big iron infusion drip now so fingers crossed!

He is a total dream, just loving lying naked on me all day - no complaints here!!

Thamantha · 25/01/2019 21:00

Congratulations @sirmione16 and @le42 on your new arrivals :D
It is so lovely to hear that babies are arriving into the world and that things have gone (relatively) okay.

My due date is tomorrow and this little one is showing no signs of shifting. I have a sweep booked in on Monday which will hopefully get things started fingers crossed

sirmione16 · 26/01/2019 00:44

Congrats @le42 !!

just loving lying naked on me all day

My LO is the same, not used to not being in the womb yet! Needs to be held. Put him down to change and he screamed blue murder! I bought one swaddle to try, laid him on it, screaming - the moment his arms was tucked in his little swaddle he settled! Honestly before I even picked him up he'd stopped crying. Was amazing. My little bundle of insecurity. Off to buy more swaddles tomorrow - one in every size! Grin
