you know them pregnancy pillows, whats the best?

can't get to sleep on a night, get back ache, how do them C shaped ones or V shaped ones work?

or am i best getting the big 5ft body piloow one?

IMHO they are all a bit naff.

The long one was like having an extra person in bed with me and DH - so much so that I named him Malcolm

V shaped and c-shaped bought both also - couldn't figure out how the hell to sleep with them?!?!?!

Used a small cushion to wedge under my bump which worked really well.

I had a 5ft pillow - it did take up rather a lot of room in the bed, but I definitely needed it. I also had a wedge for under my bump and a folded up duvet under me.
Best advice I got regarding pain at night was from a physio who suggested that when turning over in bed, I go up onto my knees rather than via my back.

Get the big body pillow! I have one (from john lewis, bean bag like) and it's bloody marvellous! Used it throughout no2 and was really useful after baby, now using it third time round. Well worth the money, you'll find hundreds of uses for it.

The wedge ones are quite good too, take the weight of the bump to relieve your back a bit.

I got my Malcolm from Dunelm Mill - he was only about 12 quid

(and he doesn't snore....)

The small wedge for my bump was marvellous, and I used it in the carrycot afterwards when the baby had a cold.

I would have liked a 'Malcolm', but never got around to buying one.

A pillow between the knees is brilliant for backache and SPD (not to mention sweaty thighs). A synthetic-filled pillow, not a feather one, and either thin-ish or fairly worn.

I bought a dreamgenie pillow from Jojo Maman Bebe - its great. It doesn't take up too much room in the bed and is really comfy. I slept much better once I started using it

thats quite cheap, found some on ebay for about £8 plus postage, will have a look in dunhelm mill if i can find one.

As you're not sharing a bed with anyone, and as it's warm enough (ish, and more so as you're probably generating your own heat) the big pillow might be okay. I HATED mine as it was such a palaver to roll from one side to the other with it, but mainly cos it got tangled in the duvet or I would nearly smother DH with it. Mind you, also didn't like it cos it was full of beans and therefore either too floppy or too solid, nothing in between. I found an old thin pillow between the knees and a wedge under the bump much better.

My cousin lent me one she'd bought from mothercare. Its crossed between a V and a C and its been a god send for me in my pregnancy. It gets used for everything, sleeping on, resting things on if I'm sitting etc. Plus we looked after my friends 6 week old and it was great to have round me to rock her to sleep or feed her- no aching arms!
I have now bought one of my own (£19.99) as I couldn't bear to give my cousins back once baby was here!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 5ft one - still use it now and DD is 8 months. You can pop it under your bump and between your knees - fabby. Got a v one for bf.

i might buy the big body one and cut 2 strips off the bottom and sew them into a V shape, then i'll have both

i have the big body one with natural husks in..think it is called the luna pillow and i love love love it! have been sleeping really well with it and have no aches or niggles because it supports me well! It is like having another person in bed...but as long as it gets me a good nights sleep, who cares. Can highly recommend the body pillow!

Hi, I'd recommend a big V shaped pillow available from John Lewis although it's a bit pricey(www.johnlewis.com/Nursery/Baby+Essentials/Baby+Essentials/Breast+Feeding/580/230195202 /Product.aspx). I sleep with it stretched out beside me, kind of hugging it, resting my head on it and with it between my legs and am sleeping soundly...although it does sometimes end up on the floor by the morning. Much much better than simply a pillow between your legs.

I use a Dreamgenni and it is fantastic!

My friend who is 28 weeks juts bought one of the V shaped pillow - I don't think she paid a lot for it either. She says it has helped her enormously as she was really struggling to get comfy. I'll definitely be getting one of them when I'm further along (14 weeks atm!)

im 32 weeks and getting rather big, and i use 3 spare pillows in row under myself. i just dont understand how you manage with one big body pillow, i will need two as i turn around millions times at night unless i glue myself into one side.

btw, how do you use v shape pillow under your waist?

What worked for me was one standard pillow between my knees and another to cuddle with two more under my head!

For my last preg I got a v shapoed pillow from ebay that basically went round my entire body. I just lay in the middle of it. I didn't have the hassle of moving pillows when I turned over at night. It made all the difference to my sleep during my last preg. I really recommend getting one

I preferred a couple of small cushions - those ones like mini bean bags are lovely to tuck under your bump (I think they are called Smoosh or something like that? from novelty/gift websites).

Also had a small cushion (like a normal sofa cushion) about 8" by 8" which was great, still using it propped up on top of my pillow when bf.

well a lady has just emailed me from freecycle to ask me if i want a big body pillow, how goods that!? i will be able to afford a v shaped one if i don't likw it
