Hi, I'm on my forth pregnancy and am trying to decide on a girls name. What does everyone think of the name Beau for a girl? This is the only name that me and DH can agree on and I'm just wondering what other peoples opinions are. Thanks.

But there are loads of girls called Dexter and Mackenzie and Cameron - etc. - Beau at least sounds a bit girly. I think it's lovely actually.

goingfor3 · 25/06/2007 12:23

I really don't like the name Beau for a boy or girl. I don't think any boy called that will thank his parents when he's bullied as a teenager.

MuminBrum · 25/06/2007 12:23

No, her real name is Margaret Anne, but as someone else said, people do what they like nowadays. Now, OP, how about Princess Consuela Bananahammock for your DD?

he's shorten it to wil
or willy

belgo · 25/06/2007 12:26

I also think that most children will want girls names for a girl and boys name for a boy.

emmared1980 · 25/06/2007 12:27

Thanks snowleopard . Just to let you all know ignore Posie1972 it's my sister!!! Who as I said before doesn't like the name. Oh by the way I have come across an actress called Beau Garrett can't remember the name of the film though.

People will assume that you can't speak french if you use it as it is a french masculine word

katelyle · 25/06/2007 12:28

Imagine if she gets to be Prime Minister. Can you imagine a Prime Minister called Bo?

honeyapple · 25/06/2007 12:29

Beau is a boy's name.

Snowleopard- where do you live??? I have NEVER heard of a girl called Dexter, Cameron or Mackenzie... let alone LOADS OF THEM!!

goingfor3 · 25/06/2007 12:29

Is Nikita a french boys name? I really like it for a girl but was put of when told it was a boys name.

snowleopard · 25/06/2007 12:30

I wouldn't give an arse if I used this name and people assumed I couldn't speak French. They'd be right! Who cares?

Cameron Diaz has probably made it popular as a girls name. I've heard of Mackenzie as a girls name not Dexter though. I've heard of Stacey as a boys name

hana · 25/06/2007 12:32

boys names for girls are far more common I think in North America, I know of a few Camerons and one Dexter back in Canada (girls)

snowleopard · 25/06/2007 12:33

In Edinburgh honeyapple, in a kinda Boden-wearing cul-de-sac. But it's not just the local children - I've heard of loads of girls called Mackenzie, in particular, all over the country. I quite like that too if I'm honest
