Anyone got pregnant on the mini pill?

As the title says really. Has anyone gotten pregnant whilst taking the mini pill?

I have been on the mini pill since 2-3 weeks pp. Dd2 is now 4 months old. I take it exactly the same time every day. But last week I had some blood tinged cm twice over 2 days and have been feeling sick on and off. I have been coming on a few days before my period is due on it and occasionally just a few days after coming off. This month though I have managed to go the full 28 days. Due on today and no sign of period. Did a test but forgot about it. When I looked I’m unsure if it’s an extremely faint positive or if it’s an evap line or an indentation on the test 😫

Yup, twice..... Ds is now 6, other time was a miscarriage. I’m single now, but wouldn’t be relying on it as it just doesn’t seem to work for me.

fedupandlookingforchange · 03/12/2018 11:16

Yes, he’s 16 months old. I took it at the same time every day. With hindsight I now know I had a chemical pregnancy for the four months I was taking it before I got pregnant. I had taken exactly the same pill in the past with a different partner no problems.

Yes (sorry!) i had been on it for years (through different relationships) and it was fine, didn't have periods on it. then one day just thought "I'm pregnant" and i was.
there was no rhyme, reason or difference to this time.

Thanks ladies. I’m praying I do come on as I have had 2 c sections. So not ready for another and didn’t realise how common it was people falling pregnant on it till I googled and asked on here 🤦🏻‍♀️. Will be asking for another form of contraception if I do come on

Currently 35 weeks pregnant! I had been on the mini pill for around 7 years, no change in pattern of taking it, I hadn’t been ill or on antibiotics. I was away on holiday and felt really sick and tired every day and couldn’t pin point it then my boobs started hurting so I did a test and it was positive! Complete shock!

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 14:25

I wonder why it works for some and not others. I thought it stopped ovulation but I had ovulation pains so guessing not!

@SamanthaH92 they recommend you only use it if you breast feeding full time! X

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 14:55

@HJWT really?! My doctor knew I was not breastfeeding when he prescribed it and so did the nurse that gave me my next prescription. Still no sign of my period so far just twinging pains on my left.

@SamanthaH92 yeah I wanted the implant but my doctor said if I'm breastfeeding the mini pill will be fine as it's just a back up because breastfeeding can work as a contraception but the mini pill kind of tops it up! BUT the mini pill also really messed with my periods, one month I would have spotting and the next month I wouldn't have anything then spotting mid cycle etc! It's rubbish I'd get the implant if you want something 100% effective

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 15:21

@HJWT yes it has me. I’m on for longer and always shorter cycles sometimes I’m on for 7 days and then off for a week then back on for almost 2 weeks.

@SamanthaH92 it's not great I don't know why they put you on it if your not BF!

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 15:31

@HJWT she was going to put me on the combined pill last time but looked at my file and said she didn’t want to risk it. BMI is just over like literally just for that pill and there is history of high blood pressure in my family. Think that’s why but I would of chose something else had I of known how unreliable it is

Yes. I had a termination. I already had 2 DS and I wasn’t in a very good place mentally and knew I wouldn’t cope with another child. When I went for the termination the stupid doctor told me to get some proper contraception. I was on the mini pill as I get migraines and the usual sort is not recommended for migraine sufferers.

CheeseOnToastMmm · 03/12/2018 15:41

Yep, twice! Dds are now 5 and 10! I wouldn’t rely on it at all.

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 15:56

@ShannonRockallMalin can’t believe they said that. How insensitive.

I am getting a heavy feeling and cramping now. So think I possibly will come on and then will never know if it failed or not. BUT thank you ladies, I will be arranging an appointment to get a different contraception if I do x

I was on the mini pill for just under a year but was bleeding very sporadically on it. My GP suggested that one pill wasn't strong enough for me so I had to take two every day. Fell pregnant 2 weeks after stopping the mini pill so I am sure I would have fallen pregnant if I'd have just been taking one!

OP - have you taken a test?

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 20:24

@JBCG not since this morning. Got none in now either. Will have to go out in the morning. Absolutely pooing my self in case I am

Which mini pill is it? I didn't have periods for years when taking cerazette. It is the one most likely to stop ovulation too

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 20:37

It begins with a D not to sure. Desomono or something like that

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 03/12/2018 20:54

Desomono has the same active hormone as cerazette so could stop periods. It could also make then erratic. Depends on the person really

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 20:57

@dementedpixie surly it wouldn’t just stop them though if it was previously making them erratic?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 03/12/2018 21:06

It can take a few months to settle down

dementedpixie · 03/12/2018 21:07

That's why sometimes if people are bleeding at the start they are told to persevere for a couple of months to see if they settle down again

SamanthaH92 · 03/12/2018 22:01

@dementedpixie the nurse said that’s normally before 3 months. I am hoping that’s why but with feeling sick on and off and sharp pains now in my breasts. Plus the bloody cm those 2 days I’m not so convinced it’s just stopped my periods or will do
