Anyone got pregnant on the mini pill?

As the title says really. Has anyone gotten pregnant whilst taking the mini pill?

I have been on the mini pill since 2-3 weeks pp. Dd2 is now 4 months old. I take it exactly the same time every day. But last week I had some blood tinged cm twice over 2 days and have been feeling sick on and off. I have been coming on a few days before my period is due on it and occasionally just a few days after coming off. This month though I have managed to go the full 28 days. Due on today and no sign of period. Did a test but forgot about it. When I looked I’m unsure if it’s an extremely faint positive or if it’s an evap line or an indentation on the test 😫

I thought I was pregnant several times but never was, must just have been the hormones

Even taken perfectly as you have 1 in 100 women will still get pregnant whilst on the mini pill. It can take a good few months for your bleeding pattern to settle so it may just be that for you it has now settled down. It’s primary role is to thicken cervical mucus and thin lining of womb to prevent pregnancy and in some women it also stood ovulation but not all women. You don’t have to be breastfeeding to take it. Loads of somebody use it and are not breastfeeding. It’s a good form of contraception but LARCS (long acting reversible contraception) are more reliable. Like I said 1 in 100 compared to implant which is 1 in 1000.

I also got pregnant while taking the mini pill. I had been ill with a stomach bug but that was at the start of October and I conceived mid November so I've no idea how it happened but it did.

Fuck. I knew nothings 100% but that’s quite low.
I was on it as I had to stop taking the combined one due to migraines and family history. But I never realised it was that low.

Have you done another test or come on yet?

Got no more tests. Partner is going to grab some later. No sign of period today 😫

Yes I am currently almost 16 weeks pregnant with a surprise baby! I didn't click that I could be pregnant until I was already 7 weeks. My period hadn't come (but that wasn't unusual), I'd felt tired and sick (but had a lot going on and thought it was stress) and figured I would be protected by the pill given I had been taking it on time. I was very wrong!

@Canders 🤭 I have been stressed but I’m feeling like I did at the beginning of my last pregnancy. I’m hoping it’s just tricking me. No period yet but having ewcm and lots off it, sorry if tmi

I fell on the mini pill. Had been on around 8 months.
I unfortunately miscarried. Not sure it was anything to do with being in the pill, know has really explained it
I miscarried only in October, and my levels aren’t dropping and now getting full on pregnancy symptoms .
But I think that’s me and nothing to do with falling on the pill

Yep but ended in MC, back on it now (temporarily until I get the implant in next week) and terrified of being pregnant- I'm only 10 weeks postpartum atm with number 2 so deffo no more planned!

@HJWT thanks! Looks negative to me. Will re-test in the morning just to double check with stronger wee. Hopefully it’s still the same. No sign of af still though so maybe it has stopped my periods 🙌🏻

@HJWT I defiantly will. If it’s negative tomorrow I will be ringing to book an appointment with the nurse ASAP. I’m unsure if I have much choice with contraception though so will see what she says. If not OH will just have to wrap it up

I was on cerazette for years with no pregnancy and no periods. I then had the mirena coil which also stopped them

The newer desogestrel mini pills (with 12 hour window) are supposed to be more effective than the older style ones that only have a 3 hour window. They are also more likely to stop ovulation

Yup. Fell pregnant on the coil and sadly mc. Had it removed and was put on the mini while they checked everything out. Took religiously and now pregnant with a healthy baby. Have been told that me and my partner must be super super fertile! This will be our last though (both of our 2nd child so 3 all together) After plenty of discussion we've decided all being well he'll be getting the snip when this one is born!! As well as me having a coil!! Double protection!!
