Sober Christmas - what do you drink?

Looking for some suggestions of "grown up" soft drinks to take with me to family gatherings, I get so sick of diet coke and orange juice which is what the staple offerings tend to be!
Thanks in advance

We don't drink alcohol on Christmas anyway, but I like non-alcoholic mulled drinks (IKEA sells ready made stuff, but you can also make your own!).

Angelmiracle · 28/11/2018 07:20

I'm a non drinker anyway but I like Shloer at Christmas! And there's many different flavours too.

SnuggyBuggy · 28/11/2018 07:21

Don't know how transportable it would be but I absolutely love hot spiced apple juice

Babygrey7 · 28/11/2018 07:21

Fevertree ginger beer has a real bite, and is lovely served with ice and mint

hiptobeasquare · 28/11/2018 07:22

Fentimans rose lemonade.

IrishMamaMia · 28/11/2018 07:23

Rochester ginger. I have it hot with a slice of lemon :)

Miltonkeynesmummy · 28/11/2018 07:24

Fizzy water with stuff floating in it (like pink grapefruit). Always put it in a nice glass with lots of ice.

OldBrownShoe · 28/11/2018 07:24

Belvoir Elderflower is lovely.

Alcohol free Koppaberg is very sweet but quite refreshing.

Fentimans ginger beer or cola is nice (the col is better when it’s not cold)

Screamingeels · 28/11/2018 07:29

I am also tee total. I drink all of the above.. also Sainsbury's own brand non alcoholic wine is suprisingly drinkable ( white, rose and sparkling - never tried the red). All other non alcoholic wine is rank!

Nanny State if you are a beer drinker. it's 0.5pc. Which means you need to drink 6 (330ml) in an hour to have one unit of alcohol. So don't do that!

Thank you, I appreciate the suggestions! Doing an online shop and my brain doesn't work this early :)

Fever tree aromatic tonic. Closest taste to a G&T without the G. It’s absolutely lovely, especially with lots of ice and a slice of pink grapefruit. Their elderflower one is nice too, I liked them because they weren’t as sweet and sugary as many other soft drinks.
In the end I also drank a lot of sparkling water as I didn’t want to have loads of sugar.

OldBrownShoe · 28/11/2018 07:36

@screamingeels do Sainsbury’s do the miniature bottles of non alcoholic? I tried a Tesco one which was awful so gave it to the teens (who thought it was the best thing ever 🤣)

Littlefrog99 · 28/11/2018 07:37

Tesco do a decent range of non-alcoholic beers, wines and spirits if you still want to feel like you're having a drink. I love the G&T. Becks and Heinekin also do alcohol free beer, they taste just like the 'full fat versions.

lifechanginglemoncake · 28/11/2018 07:38

We make a mulled apple juice with a sachet of mulled wine spice and some oranges and apple slices then anyone who is allowed can add a tot of rum (or whatever) to their glass and those who are pregnant or driving can still enjoy it as it is. Works really well.

Screamingeels · 28/11/2018 07:44

@oldbrownshoe - don't think Sainsburys do small bottles, but big ones aren't very expensive. There's a regular and a taste the difference, regular one is fine.

Old Mout now do an alcohol-free cherries and berries cider. I’ve not yet tried it (saving it for a treat!), but I saw it for £1 in Sainsbury’s, and bought it for 80p in Home Bargains

Racheyg · 28/11/2018 08:24

I love soda water, with lots of ice lime and mint

Shantotto · 28/11/2018 08:25

Marks and Spencer’s have some good looking ones - they’ve got a bottle of ‘gin’ and tonic which is tonic but with the botanical extracts that go into gin added to it. Not tried yet but getting it for my Christmas drinks! Also second fever tree aromatic tonic water - had it with ice and lemon at my birthday party last week and I could convince myself it was almost the real thing!

Pepperoniextracheese · 28/11/2018 08:26

Aldi do a non alcoholic prosecco called zeropointzero which is pretty tasty. Not as sugary as done of the other I've tried. 2.49 a bottle

StorminaBcup · 28/11/2018 08:30

Erdinger do a nice alcohol free beer that actually tastes like beer! I found lots of no-alcohol drinks tasted really synthetic.

Wouldyoubelieeeeeeveit · 28/11/2018 08:36

M&S do a really good non alcoholic Prosecco type drink called Fizzero. Best one I've tried yet. Even my husband likes it.

OutPinked · 28/11/2018 08:39

Another one for old mout alcohol free cider and kopperberg too, had a fair few during my last pregnancy.

TheSubtleKnifeAndFork · 28/11/2018 10:25

What about mulled apple juice?

Ginger beer!

I'm a fan of Erdinger Alcohol free beer / isotonic drink (erdinger alkoholfrei)

Tonic water with a bit of gin rubbed around the rim of the glass is meant to be quite a good substitute for an actual G&T.

A really good Virgin Bloody Mary - with lots of spice and a celery stick.

wimbler · 28/11/2018 11:00

I second the suggestion for fever tree's aromatic tonic. It's amazing (pizza express have it on their menu too as I discovered the other day!)
