Early pregnancy does this sound normal?

Sunday - Positive clear blue 2/3 weeks
Yesterday - HCG levels 3000, scan showed a small gestational sac, nothing else just yet
Today - Positive clear blue 3+

Going back tomorrow for more bloods to make sure my HCG is rising; does this sound pretty normal for early pregnancy?

Sounds perfect

maddiie · 23/11/2018 13:52

@RLOU30 You don't think it's of concern that there was no yolk or fetal pole? Trying to remain positive. I've had no pain, bleeding or anything to indicate miscarriage.

You add 2 weeks to the clear blue times so 2/3 weeks on Sunday would be 4/5 and for 4 weeks that level of HcG is very normal. The clear blue test stops at 3+ no matter how far along you are. Congrats

RLOU30 · 23/11/2018 13:56

The first thing to be seen will be the sac. Going back 5-7 days later you could likely see a small heartbeat and fetal pole. Things do go wrong of course but not seeing it at this early stage doesn’t mean it won’t develop x

RLOU30 · 23/11/2018 13:58

The dates could even be a couple of days out honestly try not to worry I didn’t see anything until 7 weeks. Stress will be the worst thing to do. Wish you the best (sorry for all the messages)

maddiie · 23/11/2018 14:06

@RLOU30 Thank you don't apologise! I need the advice. Only being seen this early because we conceived through fertility treatment. I'm really happy with my symptoms and hcg levels just concerned about the scan but hopefully all will be well Smile

That’s the only bad thing with being seen early. It’s such early days so everything changes and develops almost by the hour! things you might not see today can be seen tomorrow iyswim.

maddiie · 23/11/2018 18:15

Yeah I almost wish I hadn't had the scan! But everything else seems promising. Hopefully my bloods tomorrow will be fine.

Im 28w now but found out I was pregnant rediculously early. 5dpo.

I had an inplantation bleed. And history of ectopic. So they scanned me soon as I said I had bled.

Was diagnosed with a pregnancy of unknown location as nothing showed on the scan. So they couldnt rule anything out at that stage. At this point they estimated I was about 4w.

So I then had my bloods took every 48hrs to see HCG levels which they anticipated doubling. (Which they more than did!).

They waited 2w to scan me again.

So at this point I was nearly 6w and all that showed up was a yolk and tiny egg sac in the right place.

This was enough for them to say everything was going as should be goodbye see you at 12w scan.

Sometimes its hard if you get scanned early as theres no clear cut off when things will show up. So can be worrying and disheartening.

Good luck Flowers all sounds promising.

@Notquiteagandt Thank youSmile I'm feeling pretty confident but the woman who did the ultrasound was a bit funny, kept saying IF I was pregnant and then saying about possible failed pregnancy because of the scan and ignoring how early it was.

I had this at 6 weeks too (early scan due to pain that I convinced myself was ectopic) and a pessimistic sonographer who talked about failed pregnancy. Went back at 8 weeks and all was fine! Currently 10 weeks :) don't worry

maddiie · 23/11/2018 20:03

@Millie2014 Ah thanks for the reassurance. I know each case is different. I just can't accept that I've miscarried when everything feels so fine and the tests have progressed so well. Fingers crossed for high HCG levels today and a successful scan in 10 days.

Sounds right, so you're about 4-5 weeks! - I had a private scan at 6 weeks and all they could see was the sac and yolk, went back a week later and there was bub. Now 14 weeks!

Darkstar4855 · 23/11/2018 21:05

At 4-5 weeks you would usually only expect to see a sac on ultrasound. Everything you’ve said sounds perfectly fine to me.

I’m guessing the sonographer is just wary of giving you too much hope at such an early stage, especially if she knows you have had fertility treatment.

maddiie · 23/11/2018 21:51

@kpeanut94 @Darkstar4855 Thanks both. I just don't feel like anything's wrong so hoping my gut is right. Will update tomorrow

Fingers crossed it’s good news for you.

StarfishSandwich · 24/11/2018 03:15

If it helps, here is my story:
BFP on 22/12 (really irregular periods - could have been anywhere from 3 to 10 weeks).
Scanned on 27/12 due to pain and could just see what they thought was a sac but couldn’t be sure (it was literally just a circle) so dated at between 4 and 5 weeks and told to come back in two weeks to check. Bloods also taken on this day and were found to be doubling 24 hours later.
Scan on 10/1 - could see a heartbeat and was dated as 6+2.

Nearly three month old currently snoring on my chest as I attempt to peel him off and put him back in the cot 😂

maddiie · 24/11/2018 07:30

@StarfishSandwich Thank you! So happy it all worked out for you. I'm in the exact same boat so hopefully like yours my bloods come back and have doubled today. I just feel in my gut that everything's fine and I hope my body isn't lying to me

RLOU30 · 24/11/2018 09:39

Good luck for today x

maddiie · 24/11/2018 09:45

@RLOU30 Thank you!

SparkyBlue · 24/11/2018 09:47

@maddiie what a previous poster said earlier is right. The sonographer will always be a bit cautious and will often be factual rather than reassuring. Best of luck.

kpeanut94 · 24/11/2018 10:40

All the best for today!
I know how worrying early pregnancy is, hopefully you get to see a growing little bean.❤️

maddiie · 24/11/2018 10:54

Thank you both @SparkyBlue @kpeanut94

OP posts:
maddiie · 24/11/2018 18:20

They've gone up 50% but they haven't doubled 😞

OP posts:
Notquiteagandt · 24/11/2018 19:28

They are still increasing though so thats good.

Did the dr see you to discuss them?
