Early pregnancy does this sound normal?

Sunday - Positive clear blue 2/3 weeks
Yesterday - HCG levels 3000, scan showed a small gestational sac, nothing else just yet
Today - Positive clear blue 3+

Going back tomorrow for more bloods to make sure my HCG is rising; does this sound pretty normal for early pregnancy?

@Notquiteagandt Yes he said that at the rate they've gone up it means they're doubling at an average of 82 hours which he's very concerned with. I'm in bits to be honest

Try to keep faith. Look after yourself and take one day at a time Flowers be thinking of you

@Notquiteagandt Thank you Thanks It's just so confusing. Online I've read that if your hcg is between 2000 and 6000 (mine was 3000) it takes 72-96 hours to double (mine took 82) which makes me totally in range. So why is the doctor so negative about it? I just do not understand.

Oh @maddiie you poor thing. Hopefully the doctor is being over cautious. I know it's easy for us to tell you to try not to stress about it and to try to relax but I know that will be impossible for you to do right now. Please be kind to yourself right now.

I’m upset to have seen your update. Another one hoping your doctor is being over cautious. I thought your hcg levels were bang on but I’m obviously not qualified to say that :( sorry x

maddiie · 26/11/2018 18:09

They only raised 54% this time. Doctor said it won't be a viable pregnancy. Thank you for the kind words

from a stranger on the internet it means not too much but my heart breaks for you & with all my will I wish for future happiness for you. Be kind to yourself and take care x

Well I'm completely baffled. The doctor who phoned me yesterday with my hcg results literally told me that there is no possibility of the pregnancy being viable and that it was unheard of for levels like mine to lead to a successful pregnancy.

The doctor I just spoke to has said that my scan looks perfect, there's a good sized gestational sac and a healthy looking yolk sac. No fetal pole but he wouldn't expect to see that yet and that 15% of pregnancy's hcg doesn't double and he sees no reason why I won't go on to have a healthy pregnancy.

I want to be happy but after being told it was over I'm just so confused. So so confused. Guess I just have to tough it out for 10 days and pray we see a baby on the next scan.

I know the waiting game seems like the hardest thing ever and so cruel. But try to stay positive. Dr's I think are automatically programmed to think the worse as they dont want to give false hope.

Are they keeping monitoring your bloods? Or following up?

Glad your scan went well xx

maddiie · 27/11/2018 16:10

@Notquiteagandt This doctor has banned any more bloods. He said hcg levels are just causing me anxiety and that no assumptions should ever of been made based on them alone. Just going to try and sit tight and hope for the best!

We had an early scan around 7 weeks and only through an internal scan could we see ANYTHING. They pointed a few things out, but I don't remember seeing a fetal pole or anything. Saw the sac though, so it was probably a little early for you.
Wish you all the best!

MadameJosephine · 27/11/2018 18:54

maddiie it sounds to me that the scan is exactly as it should be for this gestation. The sonographer mat have talked about ‘uncertain viability’ because that’s the official term we use until we can see a fetal pole with a heartbeat but it’s sounds like it’s only because it’s too early. I agree that serial HCG measurements are unhelpful in these circumstances. All you can do is wait I’m afraid. Difficult I know but hopefully in a week of two you’ll see some development and a lovely little heartbeat. Best of luck Flowers

Very best of luck OP. I will be thinking of you
