Sorry know this is done all the time but would love your opinion on girls names

I have been out of the country quite a lot in the last few years so am unsure how common/popular/laughable some of these names might be. Please let me know if you think I would be committing a hideous faux pas with any of these (or if you just like/dislike them):

Katy
Coral
Lois
Adele
Anya
Mimi
Gabrielle
M arsha

Can't say I've met any little 'Lois's' and not sure I really like it either.

all the others seem fine - I love Katy (it's not unusual, I know, but such a pretty name) and also really like Anya and Adele.

They are all pretty inofensive.
Coral would be my least favourite like Anya.

they are all fine.can't see anything offensive about any of them.my favourites would probably be Mimi and Gabrielle, the others are fine, not sure about Marsha and Katy very common

No hideous faux pas in this list!

Anya is a beautiful name and i should know my dd's name is Anja(pronounced the same way)
Don't like Marsha,Mimi,or Coral

like - Katy, Adele, Anya, Mimi

do not like Coral

Anya & Mimi - i like

Coral, Marsha & Lois - i dont

Thank you for your opinions - keep 'em coming! Have a way to go in this pregnancy yet (am about 16 weeks) so will probably think of a few more later on! But so far these are the only possibilities me and DH have agreed on. I also liked Megan but think it may be too common now.

i like megan - less common than katy.

I like them all.
Particularly mimi.

My faves atm are Esme and Orla.

Esme is lovely but my DD1 is Emma so trying to find a name which doesn't begin with E...

I looked at your list for inspiration! I've already got an Anya (so nice that other people have good reactions to it!). Although none of your other names are on our list at the moment - I do like Lois.

My DH has taken it on himself to be the girl namer (he said I got to choose the other 2 names - not true!). He's thought of 2 names and refuses to even consider anything else!

My thoughts;

Katy - lovely
Coral - don't like - 'Coral Reef'.
Lois - makes me think of Lois Lane from Superman
Adele - ok
Anya - like
Mimi - sounds like a nickname
Gabrielle - nice, prefer Gabriella
Marsha - not keen

exactley tortoies, Lois lane was cool - she was a stong, clever, independent woman (except when all soppy over superman of course)

fwiw I like Lois - I know a lovely little Lois as well. Mimi sounds like a cute name yr mom might use to describe her lady bits (sorry to offend any Mimi's out there) Don't like Adele - sounds like she would have earrings at 3 months. Marsha and Coral not my cup of tea - nor Gabrielle. Katy and Anya are nice.

I don't think any would be a faux pas. Not keen on Adele, Gabrielle or Coral, myself, but the others are fine.

I like Mimi and Gabrielle best.

I like Coral, but people might find it difficult to pronounce - it might come out as 'Carol'
