We were away on holiday with them last week (we didn't know we were pregnant) and she said just from being around me she knew! Mothers instinct? She suffered with heartburn with me and my siblings from very early pregnancy and I did have a couple of times on holiday which I just put down to overindulging 😂
After having the mc last month we decided not to tell people this time until we are much further along. But then it became hard to keep it from our parents when they call and ask if you want to go for coffee at the time when you have a hospital appt to check on the pregnancy! It's a very personal choice but I knew that even if the worst happened again I would want the support of my parents😊 xxx

TwinkleBear · 20/09/2018 16:47

Good old mother's intuition. I think my MIL might have some suspicions but we're doing our best to not make anything obvious. They've been through a lot and I don't want to put them through a bad experience so we're waiting for the 12-13 week mark.

I want to tell my 2 best friends but feels weird telling them before we tell family, and I really want to talk to colleagues at work about it but not sure if it's a good idea or not to tell my boss this early on.

So many decisions and waiting feels like it's going to be absolutely ages!

Bettyhop · 20/09/2018 17:12

I'm feeling the same about telling my boss. I'm a midwife so it's really physical and long days/nights etc but not sure what adjustments they could make for pregnancy anyway! X

TwinkleBear · 20/09/2018 17:28

I'm not sure @Bettyhop , maybe they could just allow you more frequent breaks, especially when bump gets bigger? I'm sure they'll have to make some kind of adjustment when you feel you need it.

I just work a desk job so won't need any adjustments , I'm just so keen to talk about it but really don't know when is right to tell. Most of the people I work with are older and have grown up kids so I know they'll be extra excited about a new baby.

Also that's really cool that you're a midwife though I'm sure you'll be bombarded with questions on here!

Id love to know what happens at that first 10 week appointment, if you don't mind sharing Smile

buntingandstarcharts · 20/09/2018 19:19

@Bettyhop ooo yay a midwife! Expect alllll the questions! Heehee. Ladies with children already, when do most ladies go on maternity leave? I'm a teacher but I am able to sit if need be. Xx

TwinkleBear · 20/09/2018 19:49

@buntingandstarcharts I work in HR at a company with about 100 employees where the work isn't too physically demanding. In my experience most ladies who have had maternity leave recently have taken it about 2 - 3 weeks before their due date, but there's no requirement.

We had one who wanted to go all the way to the end actually go into labour in the office!

Youvegotafriendinme · 20/09/2018 19:54

@twinklebear do you mean the first midwife appointment? The booking in one? You will get asked all your personal history, health questions, previous pregnancy’s as well as your DH/DP and both sides of your families. They will take your height, weight and do a urine dip test that checks your glucose levels. Takes about an hour

TwinkleBear · 20/09/2018 19:59

Thanks @Youvegotafriendinme ! That's good to know! Should hubby go with me to it? Or does he not really need to and better save his time off for scans?

Youvegotafriendinme · 20/09/2018 20:13

With DS, DH came with me and it was nice he was there but not really needed. This time, my letter clearly states I am to come alone and not to bring anyone with me. Personally I’d get him to save his time off for the scans

buntingandstarcharts · 20/09/2018 21:04

@TwinkleBear thanks for the maternity leave info - god imagine going into labour at work! Awful. Also, I guess it's nice to have some time to yourself before it kicks off. Eeak. I'm still so anxious about it staying in there- I'm not sure why I'm feeling so crazy xx

TwinkleBear · 20/09/2018 21:08

@buntingandstarcharts I'm feeling completely crazy about it too! I go from being really calm and happy to worrying and panicking!

Mummytoboyxx · 20/09/2018 21:28

I’m the same. One minute I’m telling myself to relax and enjoy every minute of it, and on the flip side I’m preparing myself for the worse!

SundayGirlB · 21/09/2018 08:15

Feeling very dizzy today, swear I must have looked drunk on the walk to the station! Anyone else had dizziness? And major bloating - I have a bloat bump.

lifechanginglemoncake · 21/09/2018 11:32

@buntingandstarcharts I'm feeling the crazy too. Had to call a friend and let on yesterday so she can calm me down. She pointed out the hormones make it very difficult to feel rational and have perspective. Which made me feel better. Also realised she was right when I got angry with DH today for replying to an email while I was making breakfast and then wanting to cry for being mean!

It is very hard not to feel anxious though. It all feels so unreal and hard to believe it's in there and will all be ok!

TwinkleBear · 21/09/2018 12:25

@lifechanginglemoncake it's really hard to believe! Aside from occasional twinges, it's so hard to imagine that the little creature it shows on the apps is actually in there. I've been really emotional too, crying at things a lot easier. And @SundayGirlB definitely sporting a bloat bump with you there! I really want to get an early scan but I just feel I really should wait for the actual one at 12 weeks.

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 21/09/2018 13:11

I've booked doctors for this afternoon as our epu won't see me without being referred by the doctor, I'm in so much pain on my left side it's taking my breath away, have taken a paracetamol and also using a hot water bottle but just praying I have a water infection or something but this is how my last miscarriage started so really nervous about going and being given bad news

TwinkleBear · 21/09/2018 13:53

Oh no, my thoughts are with you @Lovewinemorethanhusband , wishing everything will be ok for you.

WoogleCone · 21/09/2018 17:56

Hi everyone! Please may I join in?

Just got my positive a few days ago so came looking for the May '19 thread Grin

Currently entering week 5, EDD is 25th May. Waiting on an appt from the midwife to come through. This is baby #2 for us :)

Congratulations everyone!

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 21/09/2018 18:46

Well doctor thinks the pain is in my bowel rather than baby related as he said with everything moving it's probably annoying it causing the pain ! Left a bit embarrassed but he said it was normal given my history and that if any thing changes to either call 111 over the weekend or to make an appointment next week

India1819 · 21/09/2018 18:49

@lovewinemorethanhusband that’s great news, completely understandable no reason to be embarrassed and always better to be on the safe side!!!

TwinkleBear · 21/09/2018 18:53

Welcome and congrats @WoogleCone !

And yay very happy to read that @Lovewinemorethanhusband , hopefully the pain will go soon, glad bean is safe :)

Does anyone have any names for what to call little bump that's not actually a bump yet? I'm calling mine Baby Fruit, cuz I like following the size of fruit it is each week. Cute little blueberry this week :)

user1467718508 · 21/09/2018 18:55

Also tentatively waving hello 👋☺️

Did these just over an hour ago and currently sat in bed in shock and frantically googling.

Only started TTC on our honeymoon 3 weeks ago and - as I have pcos - I expected it to take a lot longer. Freaking out ever so slightly, albeit in a good way!

Very very nervous and excited!

Congratulations to you all 💖

Just got Very first BFP!! Due May 2019 anyone else??
SafariGirl100 · 21/09/2018 19:07

Congratulations. X. Just found out I am 5 weeks! Bit of a shock. I am 41 and was told it was never going to happen. Due May. Am now waiting out the next 2 weeks till a scan. The longest 2 weeks of my life but I feel fine. Am still in shock!

SafariGirl100 · 21/09/2018 19:09

Same here. These are the longest weeks of my life 😣

WoogleCone · 21/09/2018 19:38

Thank you :)

The wait is so hard! I've told my bestie and my boss haha, I'm certain I'll be showing before 12 weeks though, my last pouch of skin is still hanging around haha so I already look pregnant in the wrong light.

Congrats @plantingandpotting honeymoon baby!
