Hi everyone, hope your all well, having a tough time i went to cinema to see bohemian rhapsody last night and took really strong braxton hicks at one point resigned myself to the fact i was having this boy in the cinema! Then i had them all night not slept very much can only ger comfy on each side for about 20 mins then im sore! 37 weeks next week so this boys eviction notice is getting served and going to try and get him moving! I think il cry if the midwife tells me his heads not engaged

AnotherOriginalUsername · 25/10/2018 13:19

Ooh snacks, my favourite topic.

I'll be taking some cereal bars, probably something small, packaged and savoury e.g. crisps (for the salt content!) and some mints. Also a bottle of squash because hospital water is always pretty disgusting and sits in a jug next to your bed and goes warm. No chocolate as maternity units are practically tropical in temperature.

shallen · 25/10/2018 13:40

Snacks wise I was thinking haribo, cereal bars and some crispy things.

Is anyone going full on savoury..... like a round of sandwiches or something?! May be a stupid question, but everyone seems to be going mega sweet!

Italianshark · 25/10/2018 13:56

Well i was just planning on taking "energy fuel"... There is a WH Smiths just outside our maternity unit which is huge and has sandwiches in etc. OH can just pop there if we need anything major. I aint pre-making sandwiches for them to be crusty by the time i decide i want one haha.

Good idea on the salt and vinegars... they have helped me many a hangover so they will most likely be appreciated in labour!!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 25/10/2018 14:19

I think it depends what time of day you go in. If you go in in labour at 8pm you'll have missed dinner, you'll be offered food after but partners generally aren't. There's a 24 hour supermarket near my hospital so can send husband out for supplies easily if necessary

AnotherOriginalUsername · 25/10/2018 14:20

I've also got some glucose tablets 🤢 for labour as baby may have low blood sugars due to my medication so keeping mine up seems to make sense in my little brain!

shallen · 25/10/2018 14:31

Reckon I'm gonna go in with a full on picnic in a cool bag, our maternity unit is a building on the grounds miles away from the rest of the hospital, and no shops that I have seen, just a crap vending machine.

Our nct lady showed us an example hospital bag and she had packed a small bottle of champagne in there! So that's going in the cool bag too!

Italianshark · 25/10/2018 15:22

@shallen I mentioned bringing some champs to the OH and he seems to think it will be the last thing on my mind.

I thought he knew me...

HeresMeh · 25/10/2018 16:09

Omg @shallen a small bottle of champs!! 100% YES to this!!! 🍾🍾🍾

hammeringinmyhead · 25/10/2018 16:26

Be careful with snacks. Bath RUH won't let you open anything with nuts in it!

I've got a wheely case for me and the same grey baby bag as in the above photo. Honestly a towel, 2 nighties, leggings and top plus maternity pads take up almost all the space.

Italianshark · 25/10/2018 16:44

Good idea with putting babies things in the change bag. Going to do that this weekend then!

shallen · 25/10/2018 17:02

I think our nct lady is perfectly normal a bit of a lush, she also said some people she has worked with as a doula have a glass of red wine whilst the 1st contractions are happening at home to (her words) take the edge off!

BarkerBump · 26/10/2018 00:45

Hi everyone,

Been a while since I last posted but it’s been to good to catch up with how you’re all doing. Currently sat awake trying to deal with the back pain and BH. Looking forward to having this little lad evicted now, I’m 35 +1 and on Tuesday (34+5) the growth scan estimated him already at 6lb1 Shock. His size combined with polyhydramnios means I’m just ENORMOUS! Not helping the SPD one bit!

Anyone else totally fed up now? I feel awful saying it but I just want him out (plus, really impatient to meet him!)

orangejuicer · 26/10/2018 03:00

Hey @Barker just to say that I think its ok yo have a whinge now and then Smile I am 35+2 and finish work today. I am due to have a growth scan next week but also likely to have a big 'un. Everyone keeps telling me I'm huge now (and I wasn't small to begin with) Sad

AnotherOriginalUsername · 26/10/2018 04:50

@orangejuicer I think people say that to make conversation! I've had it all from "wow you're huge, how many do you have in there?" to my client I see every 4 weeks (I mentioned I'd be handing her dog over to another colleague) and she was shocked and "didn't even realise I was pregnant" (cheers, but I'm not that fat and unevenly distributed!)

Kt2108 · 26/10/2018 06:27

I second @AnotherOriginalUsername people have just got to comment. I got told in one day 'god you're tiny I was a size of a house by that stage' and 'is there definitely not two in there xos you're huge'

Goes hand in hand with people wanting to touch you. Which is inevitable and Awful

With you in the fed up bit. Every day is draining me at work. 5 working days after today left for me 💃🏼

BarkerBump · 26/10/2018 08:11

People really do have to comment don’t they! I’ve been told by various people/shop cashiers/strangers for the last 6 weeks “oooh, must be any day now!”

It’s usually followed by a “do you know what you’re having?” and “well [insert own child’s/father’s/brother’s name here] is a great name for a little boy!”

Kt2108 · 26/10/2018 09:24

@BarkerBump I HATE being asked about names. Yes I have some and no you aren't knowing xos I can't be bothered with your reaction which doesn't matter! Suddenly everyone has an opinion about everything as soon as you're pregnant don't they?

Emma198 · 26/10/2018 10:12

Checkout lady in asda managed to shoehorn a conversation about it yesterday. We were doing the usual "We have so many bags at home can't believe we've forgotten them again" and she says "well at least lots of places so store things for the baby" (yeah cos I'm planning on keeping all her belongings in bags for life!). Then asked when I'm due, what I'm having, what we're calling her etc. People just love babies but I do feel a little bit public property!

shallen · 26/10/2018 11:27

Does anyone else find since being pregnant that people overshare rather personal info with you usually about their own journey to conceive etc?

Just had a male supplier in for a meeting, only met him 3 times before and he brought me flowers and chocolate ....... sweet but a little weird.
He then proceeded to tell me that his wife has come off the pill and they are busy trying!!
I have had similar conversations a few times with people like that who I really don't know v well, usually men!! Very strange!

BarkerBump · 26/10/2018 14:51

As if you want to know about stranger’s intimate activities Hmm. Thankfully I’ve not had this yet, I don’t think I’d be able to keep the look of confusion/mild disgust off my face!

Did have a very sweet moment in Mamas and Papas today where a granny and 2 granddaughters came to ask about “the baby in my tummy”. Although of course the girls got bored quickly and wandered off so I was left talking to this woman about whether her son was going to have more and, surprise surprise, when am I due, what am I having, what’s his name, will I keep going and have more (!).

shallen · 26/10/2018 15:06

@BarkerBump I know right?! Why would I want to know about the bedtime activities of people I only know on a professional basis!
My colleagues think I must just have one of those faces that makes people tell me their life stories!!

Very odd!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 26/10/2018 17:35

@shallen one of my professional associates is currently pregnant after I pointed out she had calculated her fertile window completely wrong! First attempt with my amended dates and boom - bun in the oven!

We have had a lot of discussion about names with various people as a result of Name-Gate - thankfully all well received and very much complimented upon, not that anything would make us change our minds including relatives knowingly stealing our name

ER1212 · 27/10/2018 09:09

Wonder when we'll get the first thread baby!

Kt2108 · 27/10/2018 09:38

@ER1212 I was thinking this too! How far is everyone? I'm 37 +4 .. not that it seems to make a difference mind

Crazy to think.. any day now OR up to like 22nd November 😂
