I've had some Braxton Hicks, I'm 33+2 , they feel like a sudden tightening in bump, usually if I'm walking fast, I tend to stop for a few seconds and it fades away, they have hurt a little a couple of times

AnotherOriginalUsername · 14/10/2018 14:47

I don't think I've had anything besides some crampy feelings a bit like period pain I guess (although it's been 10 years since I had one of those!) but I'm only 32 weeks so there's time yet!

SisterA · 14/10/2018 15:16

I haven't either but like @AnotherOriginalUsername I've had some crampy period like pain. Feels a lot like the same cramps that came with early pregnancy but they come and go so I don't think about them too much. I guess just yet. More. Stretching! I don't know how it's physically possible to grow any bigger - nervous to see how I'm measuring when I see midwife on Thursday!

Italianshark · 14/10/2018 17:06

Is this a normal reaction to a flu jab? It's gone really hot 🙈

@Italianshark when did you have it?

If you feel otherwise we'll I'd just keep an eye. Draw around it and if the redness is increasing, and/or if you feel unwell, I'd give your GP surgery a call and book to see a practice nurse just to get it looked at.

shallen · 14/10/2018 19:09

Mine didn't really go red but I did have a whopping bruise that came up the next day and lasted a week.

1stTimeNovice · 14/10/2018 20:18

I’m 37wks and I’m pretty sure I’ve had no BH, a few tightening but that’s about it. Midwife has been talking to me about hand expressing but I’m pretty sure nothing is going on in there yet. What’s others experience?

BrewsD · 14/10/2018 21:06

Has anyone else had wet stains pyjama top over breasts in the mornings? Having worked with animals all my life I panicked and thought it was the "running waxy milk" stage of labour like in pregnant mares... how silly did I sound saying this to the midwife 🙈😂 apparently it's normal but I felt 33weeks was quite early for this to happen?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 14/10/2018 21:15

@BrewsD @1stTimeNovice apparently you start producing colostrum from about 20-25 weeks.

I've been advised to express some colostrum and freeze it and take in with me, as my heart condition and medication mean that baby can have low blood sugar when born and it means that they can have something ready to give straight away. I think it's starting to be recommended more generally now too.

This link has some useful info www.mcht.nhs.uk/EasysiteWeb/getresource.axd?AssetID=17975&type=full&servicetype=Attachment

It's generally recommended to do it from 37 weeks at the earliest. Hand expressing can trigger contractions so if you do experience anything like that, stop, obviously!

EL332 · 14/10/2018 21:30

@AnotherOriginalUsername that looks interesting - I'm going to have a read.

We have our first antenatal classes tomorrow at the local Children's Centre, I'm unsure what to expect! Has anyone else been to ones at their Children's Centre?

I don't think I've had any BH either and I'm at 37 weeks. I just get period like cramps about 2-5 times a day but they don't seem to tighten the whole belly or anything, they just feel like period cramps (or trapped wind, sometimes hard to tell the difference Hmm). That's been going on for a few weeks now.

Pigeoncat · 15/10/2018 09:18

I’m getting periody pains (34 weeks) mild but painful - is that Braxton Hicks?

Bit of tightening over the top of my bump but nothing alarming.

Trixie101 · 15/10/2018 09:48

Getting horrendous Braxton hicks this morning, that also seem to be quite uncomfortable at times, getting shooting pains down each side of my bump too and my bits feel heavy and also ache!!! and feel nauseous! I'm hoping this is normal???? still only 33+3 so I'm hoping it doesn't develop into an early arrival!!!

Italianshark · 15/10/2018 10:14

@EL332 yeah I've had two at our children's centre, it is just a normal room - bit like an AA meeting.

I haven't had any leaky boobs but my nipples have gone verrrryyyyy brown to the point myself and my Jamacian besty compared on Saturday and were shocked there was no difference!! Mine used to be very pink Grin

shallen · 15/10/2018 14:48

@Italianshark ha! Hilarious that you are comparing boobs! That made me laugh! But mine are the same, gone v Brown! It's quite strange!

My friend and I once weighed ours on the kitchen scales after a particularly drunken evening in the pub!! I'd shudder to think what they weigh now!!!

Italianshark · 15/10/2018 15:17

@shallen Oh yeah, there's not much of me my friends haven't seen haha and vice versa! Toooo many girls holidays.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 15/10/2018 15:27

Your nipples darken so baby can see them more easily in order to feed

shallen · 15/10/2018 16:29

Our bodies are clever things aren't they?!

shallen · 16/10/2018 09:28

Ended up in maternity unit last night as movements were different. Hour of monitoring and heart was ok and a fair amount of movement once I was in and hooked up so that bit was ok.

Consultant gave me a growth scan which showed that she was right down on the bottom line for where she should be for growth. Which is funny after the midwife said 3 weeks ago that I was measuring big fundal height wise.

I have to go back to consultant on 31st for another growth scan to see if she has grown and if she is still lying transverse. He said everything heart wise, brain wise and cord wise seemed to be working ok, but she was just a bit small. Trying not to freak out too much and definitely trying not to google about restricted growth as that's scary stuff!!

EL332 · 16/10/2018 10:36

@shallen sounds like a scary night, well done for trying not to look stuff up - it's so easy to frighten yourself further! (Coming from a self confessed google diagnoser)

I hope you have a relaxing day planned and someone to look after you ❤️

@EL332 I broke and looked things up briefly, read the 1st sentence, decided its really not a good idea and stopped.

I'm at work now, otherwise I'd just sit around trying not to google things, so decided that was the best option!

BrewsD · 16/10/2018 12:39

How many weeks are you @shallen?
I've felt since last Thursday baby's movements have been reduced/not as often/not his usual kick punch and roll.
Went to midwife emergency unit on Friday night, heartbeat was perfect (lots of accelerations with movement) but I'm still worrying about him not being his "usual".
He's no longer breech so I have been putting it down to the fact he's finally turned and the movements are just different? Everywhere I read women are saying 33/34 weeks they did notice a slight drop in movements, not that it makes me feel any better.

shallen · 16/10/2018 12:47

@BrewsD I'm 31+4.

Mine have changed, more rolling and moving than kicks, that seemed to happen a couple weeks ago. Think I'm a bit unusual though as she doesn't ever seem to have been in the right place, think she was breech and now wedged in transverse so all my movement has always been in odd places.

If you are worried go and see the mat unit. I still had movement but not the usual post dinner party, they were really good and have said if I have any further concerns just ring them.
I have started religiously using my kicks count tracker app too as I have as finding it hard to remember what she had been doing through the day.

BrewsD · 16/10/2018 13:00

@shallen completely understand what you mean, he never stopped moving and jostling all day when he was breech. I was so relieved to hear he's now cephalic, and that's the only explanation I have for the sudden change in movements.
The midwives are amazing but I can't help but feel I'm wasting their time when everything turns out fine!

shallen · 16/10/2018 13:02

@BrewsD never feel like you are wasting their time!! That's what they are there for and will be happy to see you and tell you everything is healthy!
