Water wipes on a newborn

Does anyone know if you can use water wipes on a new born ? Or does anyone know what wipes are good to use on a new born. I cannot get on with cotton wool.

Our budget didn't allow for Water Wipes.

We just used Johnson's baby wipes until we ran out then I switched to Pampers Sensitive Protect. Use cotton wool pads to dry her bum after.

Only had one very mild case of nappy rash early on but I think that was because a family member came to help and insisted her nappy didn't need changing very often. 🙄

Haven't read full thread but cheeky wipes are amazing - so much more effective and cheaper in long term than any disposable wipe. I have a code for 15% off orders over £40 if anyone interested.

@Amy1996. So polite... you asked for opinions, I gave you mine. There’s so many people who believe that water wipes are chemical free and I was just explaining they aren’t. They can aggravate nappy rash if your baby is predisposed to it. Which mine was. The idea is to boil tap water first.

@Amy1996 Would they sell them to wipe baby's bums with if it was ?

Whilst I'm sure water wipes are fine, the fact someone sells it doesn't make it safe. Until recently lots of people smothered babies' bums in talcum powder and that has been linked to cancer, so it is worth questioning these things.

@harrietm87 I fully understand that, but if all I'm worrying about 0.002% of something other than normal wet wipes which have about 30 different chemicals in then I'm fine with that. I appreciate everyone's concern and advise @rubyroot so thank you. But I'm not going to be using cotton wool so water wipes are the best choice for me when baby has poo, I will just use water for wee's
