Reduced movement AGAIN today

I'm 38 weeks Friday, I've already been up the hospital for reduced movement twice in 5 weeks.

Today she has been quiet again I feel silly going up there to be put on for monitoring for her to start kicking.

I had a growth scan yesterday and everything was ok. Anything I can try to get her moving before I make that dreaded call again!

Baby is getting squeezed in there at 38 weeks! Lie still if you can, you moving can sway them to sleep. Try a really cold drink, have a snack, gently poke your tummy. Baby is preparing for the big entrance to the world.

Littlebelina · 29/08/2018 16:42

I think you should call them. They would much rather you called them. The advice has changed and any changes in movement (no matter how late in pregnancy) should be checked out. They don't advise cold drinks etc anymore as it may cause your baby to move but there could still be an issue.

A few cold drinks and lie on your back may help. If at all worried go back in for monitoring- even if it’s just for peace of mind!

BlueSky198080 · 29/08/2018 17:05

Oops ignore my cold drink advice just read previous post!!

Roeslein · 29/08/2018 17:15

I am also 38 weeks and have found the combination of caffeine and sugar (think coffee with cake) does wonders to get my LO to move when I get worried...

Roeslein · 29/08/2018 17:16

However I did of course go and get checked when I was concerned and advise you do the same!

BareBum · 29/08/2018 17:19

Crumbs, don’t wait- go and get checked. You would rather be checked 100 times and nothing be wrong than miss a problem.
Babies’ movements DO NOT reduce as they get bigger.

mrs2468 · 29/08/2018 17:20

I went three times from 29 weeks to 39 weeks. Go get checked they would much rather you went

GreenMeerkat · 29/08/2018 17:22

Go in. Don't feel silly, they won't think you are. They'd rather reassure you 100 times than miss a problem.

I'm sure everything is fine but Bette to get checked

YearOfYouRemember · 29/08/2018 17:23

Please get checked. I say this everytime. This is your baby and if anything happened you'd never get over it but the midwife would.

Dangerous advice to say less room for baby to moved. Stop saying that.

If baby starts moving less or more frantically then get checked.

YearOfYouRemember · 29/08/2018 17:24

BTW I had a growth scan too and everything looked fine. Hours later he nearly didn't make it.

GreenMeerkat · 29/08/2018 17:42

These posters were up in the hospital when I went in for reduced movements. Made me feel a lot better and that the midwives certainly didn't think I was a time waster.

It is NOT normal for babies to move less towards the end of pregnancy. People need to stop saying this! It's false and dangerous.

sycamore54321 · 29/08/2018 19:07

Three times in five weeks and you are 38 weeks now? If I were you, I'd very strongly request a section or induction right now. Repeated reduce movement episodes terrify me.

Do seek medical attention immediately and have a serious discussion about the risk-benefit analysis of remaining pregnant with these warning signs.

Very best wishes.

LeonoraFlorence · 29/08/2018 19:09

Definitely go get checked Smile

MrsHunterx · 29/08/2018 20:12

Thanks everyone got a bit of movement now going to give them a call soon.

discopisco · 29/08/2018 20:21

Same situation OP. I'm 37 weeks and have had five instances of reduced movements. They're inducing me next week to err on the side of caution. Wishing you lots of luck for the rest of your pregnancy HaloThanks

OutPinked · 29/08/2018 20:54

The NHS are really pushing mums to call up if movement changes at all now. I always get asked at every appointment and they double check with me that I know to call if movements change at all every time. They didn’t make quite such a big deal of it when I had my older DC.

They will never think you’re a time waster, I promise.

Stinkbomb · 29/08/2018 21:02

Don't wait , go in - she isn't running out of room, and seriously, the MW won't mind at all.
Go in and get monitored, trust me.

Stinkbomb · 29/08/2018 21:05

Have you called them yet? So much better to get checked, it's never a waste of time.
Good luck.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 29/08/2018 21:10

Better safe than sorry. I wouldn’t mess around with this sort of thing.

Squ1ggle · 29/08/2018 21:23

I hope you've gone in op. I had the same thing and was induced. Luckily ds was ok but it wasn't straight forward and could have been very different

BlueBug45 · 29/08/2018 21:31

@sycamore54321 they will try and make the OP wait until 39 weeks as this is the best chance for the baby to survive.

However OP I hope you have gone in to get checked.

bourbonbiccy · 29/08/2018 21:42

Call them. They told me they would prefer to see me all the time and know baby is ok, and they meant it.
It's your little baby, looking stupid is not important IMO

ruthieruthuk · 30/08/2018 01:11

Get checked out, I always did but felt like a right fraud as as soon as they hooked me up to the machine baby would to nuts, haha! But if u don't do anything and then something is wrong you will never forgive yourself so get checked out. Hope all is well xxx
