Reduced movement AGAIN today

I'm 38 weeks Friday, I've already been up the hospital for reduced movement twice in 5 weeks.

Today she has been quiet again I feel silly going up there to be put on for monitoring for her to start kicking.

I had a growth scan yesterday and everything was ok. Anything I can try to get her moving before I make that dreaded call again!

@BlueBug45 I really hope they don't. A 38-week baby is a week over full term and does not have survival risks in the same way as a premie. There may be some breathing assistance required but in a very minor way. The risks to a baby of a possibly failing placenta, after repeated episodes of low movements, are far more serious to the baby's survival than any issues arising from birth at 38 weeks.

In any case, OP this is something you really should discuss in detail with your own medical team. I had an IUGR baby born at 37w0 days. I had been admitted a week beforehand and each day a decision to deliver or not was taken, depending on what they could tell about the baby's wellbeing . The second I hit 37w0d, induction was recommended and I gratefully accepted - the doctors were greatly reassured we'd made it to 37 but from that point on the baby is full term and the balance of risks can often shift quite heavily in favour of delivery. Waiting until 39 weeks for inducing a baby with repeated reduced movements seems hugely dangerous to me (in the abstract, your individual circumstances might mean it's not).

Again, best wishes OP and keep talking to your doctor. Keep asking what's the balance of risks between an early-term induction and waiting it out.

How are you and baby OP?
DD2 was delivered at 36+1 by ELCS, did have steroid injections but it was necessary that she was born at this stage.

Glad you went in OP, I was in there twice a week from 30 weeks for reduced movement. Yes, I felt silly at times when I got on the monitor and baby started moving but I’d rather that than something happen and the midwives didn’t think I was silly at all. I was induced at 38 weeks and I’m so glad I went with my gut feeling. If you are unsure, go! 10 mins of monitoring saves a lot of anxiety.
