Also nosebleeds, anybody else getting those?

jennac · 07/09/2018 12:23

@GinGeum I'm not getting nose bleeds but my gums are bleeding like mad. I'll just be talking to my partner casually and he'll be like 'oh your gums are bleeding again'. I dread to think about all the times it happens when he's not around and I'm at work or something! The joys!

Hattie1983 · 07/09/2018 13:57

Hiya All, Bit late to the party!! I'm 19+5 (baby 2) and just had 20 wk scan which shows baby has a large belly and long legs! Have an anterior placenta but have been feeling a fair amount of movement which is nice! Bit dissapointed that OH may not get to feel this one kick much (didn't last time either) . Baby 1 was emergency section so hoping to go the normal route with this one.

sexnotgender · 07/09/2018 14:33

Gin not had nosebleeds no but there was a thread this week on here about symptoms no one tells you about and a few people had nosebleeds.

GinGeum · 08/09/2018 09:21

Ah I must have missed that thread! The mum of a family I used to work for got lots of nose bleeds when she was pregnant but she also used to get them a lot when not pregnant, so I hadn’t really realised they were yet another joyful pregnancy symptom!

I am a lot less tired this week, and a lot less hungry, and my bump seems to have plateaued on getting bigger for now (thank god!) so I’m wondering if the few weeks before have just been major growth spurt. Although I can’t help but panic when I can’t see much change in the size of the bump, so there’s no pleasing me really!

Pelly8 · 08/09/2018 20:06

@Buttercup53 I am sorry to hear you are unwell - please look after yourself!

@sexnotgender I have been getting pains in that area too! I think it might just be the uterus growing.

I carry a lot of files and brick of a laptop with me for work and I am really not sure how I am going to cope going at work!

Pram update...we went and had a look at some in John Lewis and will either go for an Uppababy Cruz or a Yoyo Zen. I really like the Yoyo but am a bit iffy about how low down it is! All this baby paraphernalia is doing my head in!!

Pelly8 · 08/09/2018 20:08

PS not had any nosebleeds but haven't had them in the past. It's definitely worth speaking to your GP and/or midwife!

PPS I have signed up for NCT classes and also signed up for NHS classes but have not heard back from the NHS people. I am having my baby at King's if there are any other King's mums out there!

Buttercup53 · 08/09/2018 20:51

Thanks @pelly and everyone else who’s messaged me. Spent today in A&E on a drip, it’s turned into an abscess now as it seems none of the oral antibiotics are touching it, though now I’m home I’ve got to continue the course. They were talking about keeping me in over the weekend but I’m very pleased that isn’t the case now. Will be going for a scan early next week at some point and they’ll tell me if they have to surgically remove or drain anything then. Still not sure how this has happened, they’ve said my milk glands are infected but I don’t know how it could’ve happened as obviously I’m not breast feeding yet. I don’t know what this means in terms of being able to breast feed when I’ve given birth, I’m pretty scared to try now as I don’t know how I’d cope with caring for a baby while being this ill and the fact I’ve gotten mastitis without even breast feeding would suggest I’m prone to it. Just sat at home cuddling my dog now and giving into my craving for mince pies even though it’s only the start of September!

@Buttercup53 sorry to hear you’ve gotten worse, hope the antibiotics work & you’re not suffering for too much longer.

With regards to breastfeeding, speak to a peer trained counsellor. It might be because the ducts have things inside them with nowhere to go but the baby would drain the ducts & not cause the mastitis.

Maybe have a look on google to see if any other perinatal sufferers have gone on to breastfeed? On mumsnet or similar.
But obviously if you don’t want to you don’t have to, just offering some suggestions.

I don’t have nosebleeds but I have the bleeding gums. It’s because our blood volume increases so our blood vessels expand & hence the bleeding.

Forced myself to have a bath tonight instead of putting hot water on my back from the shower & it was so good. It was squats day on yoga & my back did not like it today.
Also walked nearly 8000 steps for the first time in a few days so feeling sore for the first time.
Nausea & low appetite is back though which isn’t fun.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
I also picked up my second thing for the baby. The third DC are not lucky with new things at all.

Quirkycutekitch2011 · 08/09/2018 22:40

@Buttercup53 I hope you are feeling better soon - you can get mince pies in Tesco 😉

I’ve only bought the baby 2 outfits & felt really guilty that I bought them & nothing for my DS 🙈

GinGeum · 09/09/2018 05:46

You poor thing Butter - hope you get lots of rest this weekend.

Harrypotterfan1604 · 09/09/2018 05:53

Hi everyone, I haven’t been here for a while and may have name changed since I last was actually. I’m 23+2 due 4th jan.
feeling like my normal self pretty much which is nice after the hell of the first trimester. Movements have started to have a pattern this week they’ve been very all over the place for a couple of weeks which made me doubt from they were even movements. First baby so nothing to compare it to. I’m hoping my partner can feel baby move soon but I don’t know when that starts to happen, be nice though because I feel like at the moment he’s a bit left out like it’s only happening to me.
Anyone else developed anxiety since being pregnant? I’m so laid back usually never been anxious but I’ve found I’ve become a little worry wort and get in a tizz over the silliest of things.

aburrow93 · 09/09/2018 08:03

Hi all this is the first time I have posted 😁 I am due the 17th Jan.

@butter I had mastitis as a teenager from taking an elbow to the go on when playing netball! Every one always says oh I thought you had to have breast milk for that but I guess that's not the case! I'm hoping it won't affect me after birth but I hadn't really thought to question it untill now. Best of luck in getting better

sexnotgender · 09/09/2018 09:18

Hello to the new faces and name changers!

Glad you’re getting treatment now butter and I hope it eases soon, sounds awfulFlowers

Pelly8 · 10/09/2018 12:39

Hello

Saw my midwife this morning and talked through my last scan.

I was told by the Sonographers that whilst all was ok with the baby, there were some issues with the arteries surrounding the placenta and that I would need to be booked in for extra scans. I didn't really think anything of it at the time as they said the risk was low although when I spoke to my midwife today she said although there is nothing to worry about the results are linked to pre-eclampsia. After hearing that it has got me a bit worried but I guess no point stressing about it until something happens (otherwise I will just end up worrying twice!).

Has anyone else had something similar? I have a umbilical artery PI of 1.25 and L. middle cerebral artery PI of 1.45...

RiskIt4Biscuit · 10/09/2018 13:25

Buttercup53, I hope you are feeling better!

I'm home from Denmark now. We drove there and back, and I am not doing that anytime soon. It wasn't terrible, but just more uncomfortable than usual, and I can only imagine it will get even more uncomfortable as I get bigger.

We got everything we planned to get, and my mum did some shopping as well as mentioned in a previous post, and we were able to fit it all into the car, along with our other stuff - we had dog, duvets, clothes for a week each, towels and so on with us as well.

I think I'll want to fly back to see my parents before I get to 28 weeks - my mum is really excited about all of this baby stuff, and I feel quite bad about not being closer, as she and my dad are not likely to just come over to visit us here in the UK.

My DH has been able to feel baby move around a few times, but unfortunately baby didn't feel like moving much when my mum was around and she seemed a bit disappointed about it.

aburrow93 · 11/09/2018 14:18

Hi all,

I just me wondered if people are feeling kicks or anything yet? I'm nearly 22 weeks and think i feel movements but this is my first so unsure. But defiantly no kicks yet.

Kate123cl · 11/09/2018 14:59

@aburrow93 heySmile I have an anterior placenta so was told it's normal to not feel kicks until 24 weeks! (I'm 20weeks). Have felt the odd, obvious kick but they're not constant. Only really feel it in the morning if I'm lead still in bed!

Wowthisisreal · 11/09/2018 15:12

@aburrow93 I've been super lucky as have been feeling movements since 15 weeks and kicks since 19 weeks - Hubby was talking to bump this morning and baby kicked 3 times which was amazing - DH was so happy! I said baby was giving him a high five. I'm 20+5

My sister is 17 weeks and hasn't felt anything yet and I know my SIL didn't feel until later so I wouldn't worry!!

jennac · 11/09/2018 15:33

@aburrow93 I was exactly the same at 22 weeks...I'm 24 now and am only just coming round to the idea that it's definitely the baby moving in there! Getting a few stronger ones now too. I think it does take time with your first 😊

RiskIt4Biscuit · 11/09/2018 15:49

aburrow93, I'm 22+6 today, and I've been feeling movements for a little while. Probably longer than I realise to be honest.
It started out with a feeling of little bubbles, and I think I dismissed them as just being wind/hunger/bloating in the beginning.
Now, I'm feeling a combination of the bubbles and kick-like movements and rolls. My DH can feel some of them when he has a hand on my bump - but far from all of them.
I've been waking up at 4 in the morning feeling a lot of the stronger kicks in the last few weeks, and during the day I generally have more of the lighter movements. I do think they are fairly easy to miss if doing other things.

My placenta is up high and in the back, which should mean that kicks are felt more easily. I was told about where the placenta is during the anomaly scan.

My midwife recommended to relax on the sofa with a very cold drink and just focus on movements - so no music, tv or talking.

GinGeum · 11/09/2018 15:57

Risk my baby likes a good kickabout at 4am too!

I’m feeling really down today, I can’t put my finger on why. I’ve just wanted to cry and sleep. I’m wondering if it’s me getting restless about the building work needing to be done on our house before January, but seems a bit early to be getting the nesting urges.

Merrz · 11/09/2018 16:28

I'm 21 + 4 and been feeling some sort of movements from about 19 weeks. Think they are starting to feel more like actual kicks than just flutters but like someone else has said they could still be easily missed if i was doing something. When i'm sitting down and have a hot or cold drink that's usually when i notice them most. Other that that its just the odd feeling where i'm like was it/wasn't it lol.

Aww sorry you're feeling down GinGeum you maybe are worrying about having so much to do. Try to rest up and get a decent sleep tonight, might help Flowers

SuperVeggie · 11/09/2018 19:14

@GinGeum don’t worry it’s not just you, I’m feeling quite down too,
Just cried in the supermarket because me and DH couldn’t agree on what to have for dinner! I switch between being really excited and then feeling really sad or anxious. I also cry at the drop of a hat. I’m quite stressed at work which isn’t helping. My plan for tonight it to watch GBBO with a chocolate brownie to make myself feel better! Hope you are ok

sexnotgender · 11/09/2018 19:45

I feel like an absolute whale Blush

So tired and sore, slightly scared about how big I’ll get!
