Irony that is amazing! How are you feeling?

purplesmiler · 17/09/2018 15:13

So pleased to read your update @irony you must feel so much better.

Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 17/09/2018 15:20

Tentatively hopeful, for the first time in a month. Like, we could still get a real, live, reasonably healthy baby out of this pregnancy!
Obviously I'm worried about the amnio, both for the risk and for what it might reveal, but I suppose for now, ignorance is bliss :)

Buttercup53 · 17/09/2018 15:54

That’s great news @irony I’m so pleased to hear it!

Thanks to everyone for your messages, I’m trying really hard to stay realistic and not jump to worst case scenario, he didn’t say it was likely something serious, just that it could be. I’m a healthy, young woman, it would be shocking if the worst case scenario happened, and a massive coincidence for it to form just during pregnancy having had no other symptoms. I’m just scared, and shocked since the GP I saw on Friday basically said that I looked like I was nearly better.

@buttercup keeping everything crossed for you.

@irony that’s great news :)

GinGeum · 17/09/2018 16:14

Irony when is your amnio booked for?

Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 17/09/2018 16:31

Not sure yet, they're gonna ring me tomorrow to confirm day and time, it'll be either this week or next though

Merrz · 17/09/2018 16:51

Aww Irony that's great news, so pleased for you! Fx for the amino.

GinGeum · 18/09/2018 10:03

Had 24 week appointment today, spoke to midwife about self referring and she said it was good I was being proactive and self aware. I didn’t go in to much detail with her because you can hear every word people say in that room from the waiting room, but hopefully I will hear back from the well-being team soon. Next appointment is the glucose tolerance test and really not looking forward to that one!

purplesmiler · 18/09/2018 11:48

Just home from our 20 week scan (im 21 weeks tomorrow) and found out we are having a girl Smile. She is healthy and doing well. She is a little shy as wouldn't face the right way for the scan initially but after a walk and a coffee she moved. We even got kisses blown from her Grin

@GinGeum pleased you spoke with the midwife and are progressing getting extra support. I have to have the GTT too.

SuperVeggie · 18/09/2018 13:48

Another one here for the GTT, despite the fact that my BMI at booking in was only 19.5, they say I probably have to have it in a few weeks because baby's tummy measured 91st percentile at my 20 week scan and her head was only 27th! But overall I have only gained about 10 lbs so far this pregnancy so I don't know if i could still have GD? I need to do some more reading, I don't think I understand it all properly yet.

@purplesmiler congrats on your girl! There are only a couple of us having girls on this group it seems, lots of January boys!

@GinGeum hope you are feeling a bit better after your MW appointment.

@Fuck so nice to hear from you, and yay for your positive news! Keeping everything crossed for you.

I had been feeling ok the last couple of weeks, apart from tiredness from insomnia, but now I am having terrible stomach pains from a combination of constipation and trapped wind. So attractive. Anyone else getting this? I've had to start taking lactulose but that's not really helping with the wind...

sexnotgender · 18/09/2018 13:52

I need to do the GTT, really don’t want to 😩

GinGeum · 18/09/2018 13:53

Super do you have a history of diabetes in the family? My BMI is within normal range but my father has type 1 diabetes which is why I’ve got to have GTT

Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 18/09/2018 14:05

Well after yesterday's highs, I'm having a hell of a wobbly day today. Have had a free hour that I've spent googling what genetic conditions are associated with IUGR, and it's the dreaded trisomies. T13, T18, and less severely, Downs syndrome and Turner syndrome.
On top of that, 60% of babies who have IUGR not caused by genetic abnormality die in the womb or are stillborn. Infant mortality before 6 months is as high as 50%.
I just feel so low. Why are the odds stacked against me? What have I done?

SuperVeggie · 18/09/2018 15:23

oh @Irony I'm so sorry. This must be so difficult for you, I have no wise words I'm afraid, but you know you can always come on here and there will be us to chat to. You haven't done anything wrong, no-one deserves this kind of heartache and worry. I hope you are ok and have lots of support. Please post on here as much as you need if you find it helpful. Sending you hugs xx

SuperVeggie · 18/09/2018 15:26

PS. My only other advice would be to try and stay away from google as much as you can - I have a very rare and potentially life-threatening medical condition that I have spent hours researching online and it has never made me feel any better about it, and it doesn't change anything anyway. I have stopped reading about it now and if I have questions or concerns then I just ask my consultant and leave it at that. I know it's easier said than done though, especially when you feel like there are a lot of unknowns xx

le42 · 18/09/2018 15:30

@SupperVeggie > I'm in the same boat, my BMI was healthy, no history of diabetes. But babies tummy has been measuring big so I'm going for the glucose test tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it's clear for you!

Curlypop · 18/09/2018 19:12

I asp have the GTT test due to a big baby last time. I'm dreading having it. I've heard it's not fun!

doleritedinosaur · 18/09/2018 20:58

@irony great news about the kidney but sorry you’re having a wobble today. Try & stay away from Dr goggle as they tend to be all doom & gloom. Hopefully your test will be soon & you can get the results quickly.
It’s nothing you’ve done, I really hope this situation gets better for you as it must be utterly unbearable.

I’ve refused my glucose test Blush I was one bmi over at booking & then lost weight to be back under & everything else is fine so I’m not having it based on bmi when I wouldn’t be able to get to hospital
Until after 10am & would be sick for days.
I’ve said if there’s any other factors such as baby’s stomach, glucose in urine or I have any other symptoms I will but it is my third pregnancy.
I did do a lot of fact checking & it’s because I have never had any issues. So I don’t recommend my method.

My DC have shared their cold so I’m especially knackered on holiday. Doing a lot of walking but not so much healthy eating in evenings. Trying to eat healthy in the day though & need to get yoga in somehow.

@purplesmiler congratulations!

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, absolutely shattered.

Quirkycutekitch2011 · 19/09/2018 07:10

@irony my thoughts are with you - I can’t start to imagine what you are going through.

I had my second anomaly scan yesterday & after going in and out 3 times they managed to check the vessels in the heart.

I’ve got to have growth scans at 28, 32 and I think 36 weeks because of my higher BMI - I can’t remember the glucose test being that bad last time - although that was 8 years ago & my memory isn’t the best 🙈

purplesmiler · 19/09/2018 08:06

I've got growth scans too @Quirkycutekitch2011 due to my BMI. I'm seeing it as extra monitoring which is reassuring.

My GTT isn't until November I think i'l be around 28 weeks then.

HolDaws · 19/09/2018 08:22

Ladies did your midwife refer you for you GTT? Mine said she has but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm 23weeks.

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly so pleased for your news and please try not to google. I used to all the time and it makes your anxiety go off the wall! Hope you're feeling better today.

@GinGeum totally done the right thing my self referring, I think sometimes you just feel more in control when you're being proactive so hopefully they come back soon.

I was full of life last week and this week I feel knackered! Want that spark to come back! Hope everyone's okay xx

purplesmiler · 19/09/2018 08:29

@HolDaws I was given my appointment early on when I got my notes. Maybe ask at your next midwife appointment.

My tiredness seems to hit in the late afternoons. If I can I will try and have a nap but otherwise I'm in bed before 10.

GinGeum · 19/09/2018 09:07

Hol my midwife gave me all the forms etc but I had to book the GTT myself. Maybe call your maternity unit and see if you can book it? I was advised to book it early on to get a ‘good’ time (ie first thing in the morning!)

RiskIt4Biscuit · 19/09/2018 16:04

I've just been to the GP for the standard 24/25 week appointment.
Meh.

Apparently there's blood in my urine - but very little, so maybe it's not a problem as it could just be a contaminated stick or something. So I have to come back tomorrow with a new sample.
I have no symptoms of a UTI, but that is quite common afaik.

My blood pressure is the same as last time (I have a tendency to slightly higher blood pressure) - which the midwife did not seem too bothered with then, but the GP is now seemingly worried about pre-eclampsia and will talk to my midwife about it tomorrow.
I have no other symptoms of pre-eclampsia - no protein in the urine, no swelling, nothing.

Also, because of this, the GP may want me to have the GTT, but she wasn't quite sure and wanted to talk to my midwife about this too.

We talked about anti D and whooping cough vaccines, and she seemed a bit confused about the process.

At least she had a listen to the baby's heart, and it sounded just fine and she heard some kicks too. Apparently all of that was good.

I'm feeling a bit deflated by all of this, despite none of it being a big deal. I went in feeling like everything was great, and now it just feels like there are loads of issues.
