How much weight have you gained ?
I can’t stop thinking about it - which shocks me cause with my first pregnancy I didn’t care !
However my mum passed away when I was 22 weeks last time and i think I just comfort ate. I went huge.
Now I’m 25 weeks and feeling conscious !

20 weeks and have put on 4lbs (all in the past 3-4 weeks as had severe sickness and food aversions until then).
I think I put on about 2 stone with my first 2 but didn’t really track.

Oysterbabe · 07/08/2018 15:51

I put on 2 stone with my second.

Liz3891 · 07/08/2018 15:51

At 24 weeks I had put on just under 10lbs. I don't have a scale at home so I'm not sure what I weigh now (26 weeks).

leanne9312 · 07/08/2018 16:02

I'm 21 weeks and put on about a stone and a bit 🤭🤭

MrSpock · 07/08/2018 16:21

I’ve gained no weight. 17 weeks.

With my son I only gained 16-18lbs.

Cakery · 07/08/2018 16:21

Do you all feel okay?
Realistically I don’t think I should be worrying- it’s just the fact I feel horrible and hideous.
I’m worried I’ll gain a lot more 30 weeks + too

I feel worried I’m not gaining enough. I have twins and I just can’t gain weight. :/

SoyDora · 07/08/2018 16:23

Yeah I feel fine. Pregnancy comes with a degree of weight gain. I wasn’t overweight to start with and I know I’ll lose it afterwards.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/08/2018 16:40

18 weeks and currently 5lbs down. I was overweight to begin with though

GetThisBabyOut · 07/08/2018 16:40

37 weeks and have gained approximately 10kg on top of my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost about 5kg in early pregnancy though so I’m 15kg heavier than I was at about 10 weeks pregnant.

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/08/2018 16:43

Not much - should be 5-6kg by the end. Same as last time

However I have had hyperemesis and really struggled to eat :(

Do I feel ok? No, I feel dreadful. :(

hoping2018 · 07/08/2018 19:02

It really depends what your BMI is to start with.

Guidelines for those with a normal BMI is 1-4lbs up until 12 weeks and then 1lb weekly afterwards. Most people get to 25-35lbs in total.
If your BMI WAS high to start then you shouldn't gain as much

Girlwiththearabstrap · 07/08/2018 19:12

I put on just over a stone with my second but my bmi was 26 at booking in so I was already overweight and conscious of not gaining too much. I was lucky not to have excessive tiredness or sickness so I just ate and exercised pretty much as normal. Until I went overdue and pretty much existed on ice cream for those 12 days.

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/08/2018 19:29

Yup it depends on your bmi and of course you should follow any specific guidelines from your own doctor/mw as well.

Bellabutterfly2016 · 07/08/2018 19:33

My BMI is high so I've chosen to follow slimming world during pregnancy to keep an eye on everything and my midwife is fully supportive of this.

I just don't want to end up with gestational diabetes, I always think they do the glucose tests rather late!!

Last pregnancy gained 1st I weighed in the week before but lost around 2st - weigh in 3 weeks later accounting for baby, fluid etc so I actually lost overall - aiming to do the same again xxx

Whalebird · 07/08/2018 19:34

Had BMI of around 20, gained 3 stone. Think at least one of those was in the last two weeks. Didn't mind too much and am back within a stone of my starting weight but will try not to gain so much next time, it was hard to carry toward the end.

Sandstormbrewing · 07/08/2018 20:41

Last time I put on 2 stone from my starting weight. But I lost 8lbs in the first trimester so really I put on 2 stone 8lbs. All of it was after 17 weeks.

This time, I'm only 14 weeks but I've lost 10lbs and counting as my morning sickness has not yet abated.

It took me almost 2 years and a lot of effort to lose the 2 stone I gained though!

A friend put on 4 stone and lost it plus an extra stone within 6 months of giving birth without even trying! So I don't think it really matters how much you put on, more important is whether you can lose it!

MrSpock · 07/08/2018 20:46

I have a BMI of 20 but just can’t seem to gain, I didn’t gain with my son either so it just seems to depend on the person.

DrWhy · 07/08/2018 20:50

I put on over 2st last time and had lost it within 6 weeks (not trying) but gradually put a stone back on due to being permanently hungry (bloody breastfeeding, only helps you lose weight if you don’t eat to compensate!) and eating sugar to combat tiredness. This time I know I was a BMI of about 25 but I hadn’t got on the scales until booking in and don’t plan to again. I’m still exercising (although less than I should be) and eating a balanced diet with probably more ‘treats’ than I should be. I’ll sort it out once I’m all done with this one.
I am slightly surprised at people saying they only gained 5-6kg though, DS was 4.5kg, the placenta and waters easily added another few kg ?2 or 3 plus your blood volume increases and you retain more water I think so surely you’d have to gain at least 8 or so minimum unless you actually lost weight from your own body at the time

I gained 16lbs
My DS was 7lbs 12oz.
Placenta is average 1.5lbs
Amniotic fluid is average 1lb
Uterus is average 2lbs
Blood volume is average 2.6lbs
Fluid is average 2.6lbs

Adds up to 15.5lbs which seems about right. I didn’t gain any fat and my boobs were pretty much the same size. I left hospital in my pre pregnancy clothes.

So far I have definitely lost weight from my body... my arms etc are much thinner. That’s what throwing up 8-10 times a day does for you!

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/08/2018 21:07

I was vomiting up to fifty times a day at one point, and I’ve had to force food down me for the last 8 1/2 months. Same in last pregnancy. Left hospital considerably lighter than when I got pregnant and looks like the same will happen this time. Other women I know with HG have lost 15% plus of their body weight. :( it’s a fairly grim thing to have.

ReggaetonLente · 07/08/2018 21:07

39 weeks and last time I checked I’d gained 19kg. So almost 40lbs... Blush

I lost my dad when I was 25 weeks OP so I know what you mean about the comfort eating. I couldn’t get pissed, couldn’t have a fag, so I had cake instead. Sorry you had to go through it too.

I also think a bit of it is fluid. I am so swollen and retaining water constantly.

I’m not worried. It’ll come off Smile

ICJump · 07/08/2018 21:07

I’ve lost a 4 pounds. I’m aiming to be the same weight at birth or slightly under it. My GP and dietian has said this is ok as my BMI is 41 :(

Emma765 · 07/08/2018 21:09

I'm 24 weeks and I'm the same weight as i was when midwife weighed me at 6 weeks. I've definitely lost weight from my body. BMI was 31 to start.
