How many weeks did you feel your baby move?

I'm 12 weeks with my second. With my first I didn't feel any movement until around 20 weeks. Today I was lying still and felt a gentle flutter in my tummy. I can just see the skin quivering slightly. Do you think it could be baby? Or just indigestion...

25 weeks with 1st

Nogodsnomasters · 04/08/2018 13:23

I've only been pregnant once but I've heard from friends that 2nd pregnancy onwards you can feel movement earlier each time and show sooner too. Mine personally was 18 weeks for ripples/butterflies and 23 weeks when kicks started.

sirmione16 · 04/08/2018 13:25

I'm 15 with my first and not felt anything yet Sad I absolutely can't wait so wishing the days away until I do!!! GrinGrin

Worieddd · 04/08/2018 14:47

14 weeks with my second

Currently 11 weeks pregnant and getting feelings down there but it’s probably gas

Eeeeek2 · 04/08/2018 14:56

For definite 18 weeks for the first
Second between 15 and 16 weeks

Iloveyoubaby26 · 04/08/2018 15:52

First baby and im overweight, 18 weeks for flutters/bubbles then kicks and tummy moving at around 22 weeks

AaronPurrSir · 04/08/2018 16:00

First baby. 14 weeks for flutters, 19 weeks for kicks. I’m 23 weeks now and feeling loads of kicks, and they can be felt and seen from the outside too.

I wasn’t expecting to feel anything until a lot later so it was a bit of a shock to have so much movement so soon. Not sure if it’s due to placenta placement, or how far forward your womb tilts?

Pomfluff · 05/08/2018 00:48

This is my first pregnancy and I felt flutters/tickles from 10 weeks! Sort of like a butterfly tickling you from the inside that you can't scratch, which got quite maddening at times. At first I assumed it must be due to blood flow or stretching since every source claims that it's impossible to feel movements before 16-23 weeks. The tickly feeling increased until week 16 where it was replaced by small prickles/pops if I placed my hand very tightly over my lower belly. In week 17 I started feeling the first "whooshes" or "rolls", which were extremely similar to gas. They made me feel quite nauseous for the first few days since I wasn't used to the sensation, but you get used to it quickly. Now I'm week 19 and the movements are much more recognisable as taps and kicks. If I place my hand on my belly when lying down I sometimes get poked from the inside :D.

I genuinely believe it's possible to feel internal movement much earlier, although I don't think you can see or feel it from the outside until the baby is at least 10 cm. (At 12 weeks the baby is 4-5 cm so there's no chance a kick can make a dent through the uterus and stomach fat :P) I've always been very petite though so that may have made a difference...BMI was 17 before pregnancy, so I also had a noticeable bump very early on (11-12 weeks).

I'm expecting #1 and started wondering if it was the baby I was feeling around 18 weeks. By 20 weeks I was convinced, and now at 33 weeks I'm getting little feet and bottoms poking out of my stomach all over the place. It's the best feeling ever and my only consolation for the torturous heartburn I'm enduring 😂

Peanut91 · 05/08/2018 08:55

I started feeling twitches at 17 weeks, rolls from about 19 and definite kicks from 22 weeks. This is my first pregnancy

SoyDora · 05/08/2018 08:56

18 weeks with my first, 14 weeks with my second and 16 weeks with my third (now 19 weeks and getting proper kicks that can be felt from the outside)

Sandstormbrewing · 05/08/2018 15:44

14 weeks with my first but that was a posterior placenta. Currently 14 weeks and not felt anything yet but placenta is anterior this time.

MrSpock · 05/08/2018 15:54

12 weeks with both pregnancies. I have a tilted uterus and I’m naturally skinny, and I think both of these contribute to early flutters. It’s anxiwty inducing though because they’re so irregular.

jennac · 07/08/2018 14:24

I'm 19 weeks with my first and not felt anything! Trying not to worry but it's difficult when everyone else seems to have felt something by now. I'm naturally skinny so don't think that's a factor. Still have 2 weeks to wait for my scan which is torturous. Hoping for a little sign one day soon!

charley39 · 07/08/2018 14:31

First baby. Had butterflies and flutters around 16 weeks. Kicks around 18-19 and then visible kicks from 20weeks. I did lose lots of weight from morning sickness so was all belly

usernotfound0000 · 07/08/2018 14:39

I felt movement around 14 weeks with my second, more like flutters than kicks. I have an anterior placenta so only started to get proper kicks at around 23 weeks.

Noodles14 · 07/08/2018 14:48

@jennac I am 18.5 weeks (first baby) and haven't felt anything yet either! I sit with my hands over my belly every night but still nothing yet. I too have my 20 week scan in two weeks. It seems that if I'm not worrying about one thing, I'm worrying about something else! I'm sure movements and kicks will come soon enough and then we'll be complaining that they never stop!

jennac · 07/08/2018 14:53

@Noodles14 I feel exactly the same! I've also tried the hands thing and don't seem to have had much success. I'm sure you're right and we'll both be inundated with movements soon! It just doesn't make this bit any easier! What date is your scan? Mine's 20th xx

Noodles14 · 07/08/2018 15:09

@jennac my scan is on the 20th too! Baby due on 4th January. Will you find out the sex?

MrsXx4 · 07/08/2018 15:14

I'm 18 weeks with my first and can feel I have a very active baby in there! I started feeling the movements last week when I was 17+1.

Its crazy to think I have only felt the movements for a week! I don't know how I was missing them before because they are very obvious now!

Its my absolute fave!

jennac · 07/08/2018 17:12

@Noodles14 oh no way!! Yay for the 20th! I hope it comes around quickly for the both of us. Nope, not finding out sex - never wanted to anyway but now more than I ever I just care that it's okay and healthy! What about you?

Stephisaur · 07/08/2018 17:15

Flutters at 12 weeks (1st pregnancy) but usually only at night when I was lying down and concentrating.

Proper movements at 19 weeks. DH was able to feel them yesterday at 21 weeks, so I’d say I’m onto proper movements now!

Noodles14 · 07/08/2018 17:56

@jennac no we aren't finding out the sex either. We always said we wouldn't especially for the first as don't think you get many surprises as an adult! Roll on 20th when we get to see our little beans again and then roll on January!

newmum22456 · 07/08/2018 19:03

I'm pregnant with my 1st and I didn't feel him move till about 22 werks. Best feeling in the world 😍

Pepper123123 · 07/08/2018 20:17

I'm 12 weeks and I've been driving myself mad for the past week, convinced I can feel flutters.
This is my third pregnancy so I recognise the feeling, but not sure if it's just my digestive system pranking me.
