So brought a Doppler last night arriving today
I don't know if this was a bad mistake as I duno if I'm going to get to attached lol!!

I'm 12+3 what's the likely hood I'll be able to find baby's heart beat? And what should I be looking out for? I've heard something about galloping horses ?

Athers666 · 09/08/2018 08:34

@alicejj8x Ooh exciting! Just remember not to panic if you can't find the hb, it sometimes takes ages to find the little tinker in the early days. Also, try quite low down. The heartbeat makes a galloping horses or train sort of noise, the placenta sounds similar if you find that, but it's more of a 'wowwowwowwow' noise at a similar speed. You'll more than likely just know when you do find baby though. And any bloop sorta noises are the little dude moving around! Good luck but again if you can't find the hb right away don't worry xx

HidCat · 09/08/2018 08:37

@peachesarenom glad you're home and that all is well and looking forward to the insights!

@Athers666 I think they call it no-sleep training lol.

Had a wobble last night, today is my due date for the baby we lost in January and I got completely overwhelmed with grief / fear for this baby (9weeks today so around the gestation it would have started going wrong last time). Hubby was brilliant and we're going to be positive today and sort out the baby stuff in the attic so we can start making a list of what we need / want to get this time around.

Alicejj8x · 09/08/2018 08:46

@Athers666
Thank so so much for this advice :) i really appreciate it

I think sometimes this can make you feel worse but just thought I would like to try and find it myself and be good for later on down the line

Yes I've already told myself not to panic if I don't hear / find it and I've watched a few YouTube videos lol.

Just hoping it's all ok x

Athers666 · 09/08/2018 08:54

@Hidcat I'm really feeling for you, must be really difficult. Thinking of you xx

Athers666 · 09/08/2018 08:56

@alicejj8x You're very welcome. Also forgot to say slather on loads of the gel as it helps the probe make better contact x

Alicejj8x · 09/08/2018 08:57

@Athers666
Thank you I shall defo do this xxx

HidCat · 09/08/2018 18:06

@Athers666 thank you, I've had a very positive day in the end. Less thinking about what might have been and more about what's to come.

Athers666 · 09/08/2018 18:09

That's great to hear Hidcat. How many weeks are you now?

clairehr · 09/08/2018 18:20

Thinking of you HidCat. I spent the day I was due my first surrounded by everyone else's children (Xmas day), and found it so difficult, but it was also a turning point and the start of a new journey. I am glad you're able to be positive too 😊

Cakelaur · 09/08/2018 18:47

@Alicejj8x I was just before 12 weeks when I tried and found it every time. But sometimes it takes like a good 5/10mins.

@HidCat thinking of you babe. Ours is coming up on 23rd of this month. Still wondering what to do in memory of it.

Alicejj8x · 09/08/2018 19:40

@Cakelaur
Ahh was it. Finally I found baby's heart beat well my OH did lol!! Took a while as I didn't know where to look st first lol

Cakelaur · 09/08/2018 19:57

@Alicejj8x great news babe!! So pleased for you!! It's the best sound in the world once you hear it!! 😍

Patienceofatoddler · 09/08/2018 20:35

I was back to work after two weeks off unwell with headaches / dizziness and really struggled today - Feeling quite fed up Sad

Although I've been sorting through baby bits (as house is pulled apart with painters in) and found my favourite wrap I bought when my daughter was getting to wriggly to art still long enough for me to use it - I've truly fallen in love with it all over again.

Cannot wait to have a little squishy newborn to carry in it again Star

Also seems quite fitting as it has rainbows in the design

Anyone else excited for the most random things like this?

It's so hard resisting shopping currently but know I should wait until 20 week scan eurggghBlush

Aw at 'Squishy newborn' 😍😍

Alicejj8x · 10/08/2018 07:18

@Cakelaur
It really is 😍😍 thank you

Cakelaur · 10/08/2018 17:41

I've done it.... I've ordered everything!! Cot, chest of drawers/changer, nursing chair, pram and accessories, car seat, isofix, mirror!! All done!! All the big bits.. sorted!! I feel so good!!!

Athers666 · 10/08/2018 18:36

Wow Cakelaur how exciting! We've only bought a little pair of shoes and that's it😂
So I'm feeling a horrible pessure sensation at the moment low down and I'm scared stiff that it might be premature labour. I did speak to midwife who said ring hospital if I have pains etc but it just feels wrong. I know baby is low but it feels like he's going to drop out...

HidCat · 11/08/2018 08:43

@Cakelaur whoo hoo! It does feel a bit weird not having to do that stuff this time around. I'm sure I'll find other things to do instead though.

@Athers666 it's horrible when you have times like that. I hope baby moves a bit for you and relieves the pressure.

peachesarenom · 11/08/2018 10:52

Guys! I'm in a panic! My kinda local massive mothercare is having a closing down sale today!!!

What should I do? I haven't even chosen a pushchair or cot or anything. I'm in a massive panic buy situation!

peachesarenom · 11/08/2018 10:58

Athers666 pack a bag just in case and let your birth partner know. Go for a walk and see if that moves little one. You can always go into mat assessment, they have hand held ultrasounds now so they can figure out what baby's doing. Also, you could start a thread to find out what people's experience of this kind of pressure is about. My one sits on my bladder sometimes and I have to lee 5 times an hour. He also moves away from probes so they think they've found him and then they lose him!

peachesarenom · 11/08/2018 16:31

How are you now Athers666?

Athers666 · 11/08/2018 17:54

Hiya, I'm feeling much better today, I think he as maybe moved a little bit. Not as uncomfortable now even though he is still low as usual and wriggling about. Not needing the loo every 2 minutes today either! X

peachesarenom · 11/08/2018 18:23

Brilliant news Smile

Athers666 · 11/08/2018 18:41

Just had a series of really hard kicks, felt like mini esplosions! But definitely a little bit higher up than yesterday so not as distressing. This child likes to frighten me on a regular basis!
