Hi ladies, just thought it would be nice to have a place for us "first timers" to air and share.

Good luck to everyone through your pregnancy journey Smile

Hey everyone, hope it’s ok to join in! Due 12th March, very worried but excited at the same time.
Don’t know what to think as I haven’t had any symptoms over the last week, got my first appointment with the mw on Wednesday Grin

BeeKeeping · 30/07/2018 22:15

@ballanj that’s a tricky one... you definitely need to both be on the same page. My argument for was that I’m only planning to have two pregnancies (hopefully if we’re lucky) so I’m trying to enjoy every single second, and get every bit of reassurance I can get, even if that costs a bit of money. Also want to tell everyone - -already have- - and if you see a heartbeat after 9 weeks the chance of miscarriage drops to about 3%

I’ve also heard some arguments against - the added anxiety if it doesn’t show anything, and it’s just a snapshot.

Tricky tricky 🐝 xx

I loved our early scans. Don't get me wrong I really worry if everything is ok. But we saw a heart beat last Sunday and are now 10+3 so 🤞🏼 I loved it and would do it again xx

TheWanderlust · 31/07/2018 07:17

Congratulations @Welshgal18 Enjoy your symptom free days, they tend to come back with a vengeance when you're least expecting it.

I've got my first midwife appointment on Friday

Got my booking appointment this afternoon. I'm really looking forward to it but also nervous as I've had a bit of pain so I'm apprehensive as to what she's going to say about it! We're debating whether or not to get an early scan but I don't want to fork out £100 then get my dating scan appointment come through for the week after!
For those who are due a bit sooner, When did you have your dating scan?

Nolagerformethanks · 31/07/2018 09:04

Assuming, I had mine at 11+1 but then had to go in for another at 11+6 as they can only do certain measurements from 11+2 so obviously I was a day out! Booking in appointment is nice, my midwife was lovely! Enjoy and don't worry about that pain too much, I have had some awful ones and all is ok Smile

Baby160P · 31/07/2018 09:58

We had a private scan at 7 weeks and what we thought was 8+6 weeks but turnt out we were 4 days further along than the first but we could just have a tall baby? So not sure how that works?

Any way it turns out rather than 12 weeks exactly our scan is 12+4

Delly80 · 31/07/2018 10:05

I'm due 8th March. Not seen my midwife yet, I see her on 14th August, so I'll be 10 weeks by then. Not doing too badly right now, just have very little appetite. A few back issues, but then I'm disabled, with back problems at the best of time.

Wordie · 31/07/2018 10:24

Did you take/or planning to take partner to booking in appointment?

Initially I didn’t think there was any reason for him to come but he is a teacher, so he’s off work for summer anyway. I don’t think it has sunk in for him yet, so might get him a bit more excited. What do you guys think?

Baby160P · 31/07/2018 11:16

@Wordie I took mine so he took everything in. Thank god because I have serious baby brain and couldn't remember hardly anything I was told I have to do appointment wise!!

amyjw1 · 31/07/2018 12:42

Hi everyone!! Congratulations!!

This is my first pregnancy, and after seeing my GP she confirmed that I could be anywhere in between 4 and 16 weeks pregnant (I have irregular periods and haven't had one in a while)!! This was only a couple of days ago so I am still waiting for a dating scan which should be in the next few days... Eeek!! Xx

Kitkat132 · 31/07/2018 12:55

Hi everyone 😊 FTM here but second pregnancy. 6+5 today, due 21st of March (2 days before my birthday!) Still nervous and cautious but booked an early private scan next Friday for reassurance. My first midwife appointment isn't until 11 weeks! And that's just booking appointment. I think I'll be pushing 14 weeks by the time I get my U/S.
Time is going so slowly!

OE1986 · 31/07/2018 13:17

Hello everyone - I've just found out I'm pregnant with first baby. Feeling pretty overwhelmed, scared and emotional (guessing that's hormones and normal!). Due around 7th April - wondering when you have to have registered with a hospital? My gp appointment isn't for another 3 weeks, so can't check with her! Thank you Smile

Baby160P · 31/07/2018 14:16

@OE1986 welcome and congratulations!

I didn't book a doctor I called and said I need a first midwife appointment and how far gone we are and then they did the paperwork to send to hospital, the hospital sorted the first scan date and sent it to us.
I'm not sure if every area is the same.

AutumnLee12 · 31/07/2018 14:37

@0E1986 I just self referred to my hospital online as I know from previous experience thats all my GP would have done anyway!
I don't know if it works the same for all areas/hospitals

OE1986 · 31/07/2018 15:02

Thank you Baby160P and Autumnlee12! Smile

Starrygirl12 · 31/07/2018 15:26

25th March and can't stop being anxious !

jennac · 31/07/2018 17:32

@Nolagerformethanks that sounds like a good plan! Yes I definitely hope it will be a bit less worrying when we can feel some movement! Ooh my scan is on 20th August so very close! I'll be 20+6 on that day which is apparently the last day they can do it. I'm on the countdown now!

Baby160P · 31/07/2018 20:32

10+4 today and feeling the most tired I have the whole time even though I slept 8.5 hours last night! 😴

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 01/08/2018 08:11

@Baby160P I'm with you on being completely knackered. I can hardly keep my eyes open this morning!

ells20 · 01/08/2018 09:00

@Baby160P I am 10 weeks+4 and I am the same! Absolutely exhausted since I've hit 10 weeks - feel like I've been hit by a bus every single day and just want to sleep all the time!

Baby160P · 01/08/2018 11:12

Glad I'm not alone literally can't physically stay awake in the evening!!

Baby160P · 01/08/2018 11:13

I'm also very nervous about telling Work Incase they find a way to get rid of me 😩

ells20 · 01/08/2018 11:29

@Baby160P hey lovely, I really wouldn't worry about telling work! I told my work really early on because I was so poorly and I am meant to travel a lot and they have been amazing - I am working from home most days atm.

I would check your company policy but there are so many laws in place to protect pregnant ladies so they couldn't just get rid of you because you are pregnant!!!

My policy was that as soon as I notify my manager in writing that any pregnancy sickness or apt's does not count towards 'penalised absence'

Hope that makes sense and helps xx

Baby160P · 01/08/2018 13:12

@ells20 thank you. I don't work for a company as such so no policies in place.

I am a nanny for a living and I know they'd have to find cover from February onwards whilst im off and I can see them not being very nice about it.

Unfortunately I only started there a few months ago but the baby wasn't planned however very much wanted ❤️
