Hi everyone.
First timer here 😊.
I have my first GP appointment tomorrow, I'm very excited but nervous too ! I'm still very early, 5 Weeks.

When did you all get your first scan ?
& when did you announce your pregnancy to family & friends ?

I am very impatient 🙈😄

Standard 12 week scans every time.

Announced at 12 weeks, 6 weeks and 18 week.

PotteringAlong · 22/07/2018 08:05

Standard scan at 12 weeks for all 3 pregnancies. I can’t remember when we told people? About 10-12 weeks each time I think.

Katescurios · 22/07/2018 08:08

For me, I didn't have a GP appt, just called the surgery, told them I was pregnant and they put me on the MW list.

Booking in appt with the MW at 8 weeks, long list of questions and got given lots of leaflets

Scan at 12 weeks
ME again about 16 weeks
Scan at 20 week s

Then just regular M W appts until I tested positive for gestational diabetes.

If all had gone to p lan 12 and 20 weeks would have been the only scans

smellsofelderberries · 22/07/2018 08:10

We told immediate family straight away. First scan at 8 weeks with this one, at 6+1 with DD. I'm super lucky that haematomas seem to be my thing so I tend to bleed a lot in early pregnancy 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you can afford an early scan a great one to go is 8 weeks because you can usually see a lot, and if things look good at that stage the chances of miscarriage from that point on are quite low. Congratulations!

Wellthisunexpected · 22/07/2018 08:12

With DS I had one at 6+6 as they though it was ectopic but it wasn't, the for my dating scan I was 12+1 and with this one I'll be 12+4 for my first scan.

I've told couple of close friends, who I told when I had a miscarriage earlier in the year and we're supportive then. I haven't, and won't be telling family for a while yet- I wouldn't tell them if I lost it.

Aebj · 22/07/2018 08:12

About 18 weeks with first ds. Dh is forces and I didn’t find out for ages and then wanted to wait till he came home. Told parents that evening. Work knew before my parents and dh!!
Ds 2 I was about 12 weeks. Told parents after. A very close family we told at 7 weeks as I didn’t drink while we visited them. ( they guessed!!)
Good luck

My first scan was later than most, I was 17 weeks.
We told people before, only because we were planning our wedding within 2 months, because we wanted to be married before the baby was here and before I was showing. So when we said how quick we were getting married, naturally people wondered why. So we told them.

I rang the gp surgery to go on the Midwife’s list when I found out I was pg. then they rang me at about 9 weeks and I had a booking in appointment. Then I got a letter to go for my 12 week scan, with about a week to go before the scan.

Pittcuecothecookbook · 22/07/2018 08:41

10 weeks - I had bleeding and went to A&E at 9 weeks and the soonest appt for a scan was the following week. Felt like an age!

Pittcuecothecookbook · 22/07/2018 08:42

Oh, and we told our parents straight away, close friends about 6 weeks, my work 10 weeks and everyone else 12 weeks.

Aw12345 · 22/07/2018 09:00

12 weeks was our first, 20 weeks for the second scan. We live in Oxfordshire and they also do a 36 week scan as standard for all pregnancies.

Yakadee · 22/07/2018 09:25

12 week scan for us (mine is tomorrow yay!) and with both pregnancies we told immediate family etc straight away and then others about a week after the scan x

Stephisaur · 22/07/2018 09:53

My first scan was at 11 weeks. Baby wouldn’t get into the right position for screening though!

I’ve also had scans at 16 weeks and 17 weeks (17 weeks was private) and am due one at 20 weeks and an extra one at 24 weeks because I’m now high risk :/

Told family the weekend after the first scan, and announced on Facebook after the 17 week scan when we knew the sex :)

LaurenH0893 · 22/07/2018 11:45

Thank you everyone.

I hate waiting 😩. I want to tell close family but my partner wants to wait until 12 weeks !! I can't hold it on that long 🤐

I had a 7 week scan (ivf pregnancy so offered by yhe clinic as standard). A reassurance one at 10 weeks and have the standard 12 week one next week (although i will be 13 weeks by then).

Told family after 7 week scan and others after 10.

SoyDora · 22/07/2018 19:52

I had an emergency scan at 8 weeks due to bleeding with my first, otherwise it was the standard 12 weeks. Never really ‘announced’ but told people as and when it seemed like the right time... this time I told my mum at around 8 weeks as I had HG and really needed some help with the older DC, but didn’t tell my dad or the IL’s until 12 weeks, and friends as and when we saw them after 12 weeks.

imsconequeen · 22/07/2018 19:58

Why do you need your gp appt?

LaurenH0893 · 22/07/2018 20:03

I just booked a GP appointment a week after we found out.
I just thought that's what I needed to do 😐 maybe not ? I have no idea.

SoyDora · 22/07/2018 20:05

Most places you don’t need a GP appt, just an appointment with the midwife at 8-10 weeks ish. Nothing the GP can do.

LaurenH0893 · 22/07/2018 20:12

Okay. I have no idea where to call, or where to go to get a midwife appointment.
I thought my GP would refer me ?

imsconequeen · 22/07/2018 20:15

Your gp won't see you for being pregnant. Call your surgery, request a midwife appt. we had ours at 9 weeks and scan at 13 x

SoyDora · 22/07/2018 20:20

I just phoned the surgery appointment line and asked. They booked me a midwife appointment over the phone.

Pittcuecothecookbook · 22/07/2018 20:22

Maybe have a chat about why he wants to wait. Is it superstition, our because he wouldn't want to discuss any early miscarriage with people if the worst happened? Or does he just want to be traditional? If you know his motivation, you can perhaps persuade him to change his mind. 3 months is a very long time to keep such massive news from close family when it's your first I think!

CarlyJayne1987 · 23/07/2018 00:29

I saw my GP - he told me go away and self refer (great guy he really talked sense into my panic mode lol)!

I have had scnas at 6 and 8 weeks - waiting for the 12 week one soon - im very impatient!!! Wishing my life away to see the 12 week

Pepper123123 · 23/07/2018 02:04

I'm 10 weeks and have an appointment for two weeks time, so I'll be 12 weeks.

The wait is making me crazy!
