Ok yesterday doctor said think see faint positive. Feel my belly it's ok. Folic acid 6 weeks and dated me 6 weeks if I am pregnant. Got to test again Sunday then go in Monday for appointment. Had to drop off urine sample to test for infection. 30 may first day of last period and start sex practically every day give or take a couple from 17:18 June. Didn't start on 1 July. What do you think. Am I pregnant? Boobs quite itchy today

Did you take a test yourself? If the doctor got a positive test then yes you're pregnant.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 18/07/2018 00:32

No-one can answer that for you. If you’ve had a positive test then yes, very likely to be pregnant. Take another test tomorrow.

KirstyHopes123 · 18/07/2018 00:35

Doctors test. They said think they see faint positive and told me to take folic acid for six weeks and come back in week which is Monday. But do another test Sunday

So just buy a test tomorrow and do it?

KirstyHopes123 · 18/07/2018 00:53

Have to do it Sunday like doctor said

No you don’t, you’re an adult woman, you can take a pregnancy test whenever you like.

KirstyHopes123 · 18/07/2018 01:00

Just doing as they told me. But based on the information I gave what do you think x

OP posts:
AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 18/07/2018 01:17

No one can tell!! Either test or don’t test. But it’s the only way you’ll find out. Btw you are an adult woman arent you? Or are you a teenager? Sorry if I’ve presumed wrongly.

Jaguarana · 18/07/2018 01:21

Seriously, how on earth do you expect us to know? Just do a test Confused

KirstyHopes123 · 18/07/2018 01:22

I'm so sorry for even asking.

OP posts:
AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 18/07/2018 01:23

Honestly though, how did you think anyone here could answer the question? I mean that kindly. How did you think we would know?

KirstyHopes123 · 18/07/2018 01:28

From other people's experiences or similar situations. But ok
Sorry

Well there’s really very little to go on tbh. Itchy boobs on one day could be anything. I get that sometimes. Lots of women regularly go 6 weeks or more without a period for a variety of reasons or no real reason at all. We don’t know how regular your periods are or whether youve just come off contraceptives. It really would be a total guess if someone were to say you were pregnant and you would be no further on than before they answered because they just don’t know. Only a test can tell you. And you really do not have to do what a doctor tells you. The give advice. It’s your choice whether you take it or not. Taking a test tomorrow would do absolutely no harm to the baby if you are pregnant.

Foggymist · 18/07/2018 08:30

A test costs a pound or two, why can't you do one today instead of waiting until Sunday

Blondemother · 18/07/2018 15:11

Are your periods regular?
If you are indeed 6 weeks pregnant I would have thought you would get more than a faint positive.

HCG should double every 48 hours, so if a test was faint yesterday it should be stronger tomorrow - get yourself to a shop and test in the morning!

SoyDora · 18/07/2018 19:13

The only way anyone can tell if they’re pregnant is to take a test. People rarely see a dr to confirm pregnancy, they usually self refer to the midwife after a positive test. So there won’t be many people with the same experience as you I don’t think.
Buy a test and take it tomorrow morning.

SoyDora · 18/07/2018 19:14

Just out of interest, why did you go to the dr in the first place rather than just taking a test yourself? Are you in the UK? How old are you?

At nine days late without a positive, you aren't pregnant. You probably just ovulated late or are having an anovulatory cycle - both are totally normal. You aren't a machine so bodies can't be clocks...

KirstyHopes123 · 19/07/2018 05:59

I did they said negative. Five of them and I only told receptionist my situation and they made the appointment. Faint positive. I'm now 18 days late. I'm 22

For clarity, I was replying to @Shannx.

KirstyHopes123 · 19/07/2018 07:02

And me to Dora above

OP – don’t take the hard time personally. Mumsnet is generally quite a pragmatic forum and “am I pregnant” threads generally get this sort of reply.

What previous posters have said is true though, no one here can tell you if you are pregnant (especially not if a doctor couldn’t). Only a pregnancy test can do that. Unfortunately sometimes they are inconclusive for various reasons.

What was the line like on the test the doctor did, could you see it yourself?

If you are potentially 6 weeks pregnant based on LMP, then I suspect the doctor would expect a stronger line at this point, which is probably why you’ve been asked to wait a week and then test again. Either you are pregnant and hormones are taking a while to rise, in which case you should see a stronger line in a week. Or you were pregnant, but the pregnancy wasn’t viable (chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage) and your pregnancy hormones are now dropping again, in which case you would probably expect the test in a week to be negative.

Although that being said if you want to test sooner at home you can, but it sounds like it might not tell you much/reassure you, unless you see a strong definite positive.

That’s just my take on the situation, based on the information you’ve given.

Do you want to be pregnant? That isn’t clear from your posts.

Shannx · 19/07/2018 09:13

@physicskate - appreciate the reply but not necessarily true.

SoyDora · 19/07/2018 09:20

If Shannx ovulated late there’s still a chance she could be pregnant, she just isn’t far enough along for it to show on a test.
