Is this ok? Spaced 4 hours apart.
I’m 25+4

FFS read the packet. It’s explicit.

No that is not ok and very dangerous

welshweasel · 11/07/2018 19:44

Ibuprofen is actually ok in the second trimester of pregnancy so I’d call 111 and check they’re ok with you taking that instead.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 19:44

@HyacinthsBucket70 Oh really? I’m scared now, I thought I could just ride it out at home as I feel so awful atm (achy, sore throat etc) I don’t think I can make it to an OOH or hospital as both are a fair way from us (I live in a bit of a nowhere land)

The advice is no more than 8 in 24 hours so after 7pm tonight you can take another dose, surely? Just try and space them out 6 hourly from now on.

PurpleDaisies · 11/07/2018 19:45

You can’t take any more paracetomol until 11pm. The maximum dose is 4g (8 500mg tablets).

I’m confused. Did you take three at a time? You can’t havd taken 10 tablets if you took 2 at each time you said.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 19:46

So as I wrote before, the times I’ve had them were:,
7pm last night, 11pm last night, 7:30am this morning and 1:30pm this afternoon.

OP posts:
SoyDora · 11/07/2018 19:46

PurpleDaisies she hasn’t taken 10, she’s taken 8. She was asking if it was ok to take another 2.

Passmethecrisps · 11/07/2018 19:46

You need to be very careful. Being unwell and in pain means we are a bit more desperate but you are nudging awfully close to taking too much.

The packet says to take no more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Call your midwife unit for advice on what to do now.

I hope you feel better very soon. It sounds horrible

Poisongirl81 · 11/07/2018 19:47

it's fine honestly

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 19:49

@PurpleDaisies I haven’t taken 10 yet, I was asking if it was okay to. I’ve only had 8

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 11/07/2018 19:50

Thanks soy. I’ve also realised I’ve read the times wrong. It’s after 7pm so you can take more paracetamol.

NicoAndTheNiners · 11/07/2018 19:52

Your immune system is compromised in pregnancy and a simple throat infection can lead to sepsis. Talking about having chills and being unable to get out of bed concerns me. I'm a midwife btw.

WeeDangerousSpike · 11/07/2018 19:52

As its more than 24hrs you can take 2 more, but after that you need to be on a rolling 24hrs iyswim, so you can't take the next doses until the same time you took them yesterday at the earliest. Does that make sense?

Please be careful.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 19:54

@NicoAndTheNiners oh really? That’s concerning. I thought I’d feel a lot worse with sepsis and wouldn’t be able to type on here etc.
I have eaten today too. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m drinking lots of water too.

OP posts:
CaptainKirkssparetupee · 11/07/2018 19:55

it's fine honestly

I'm sure fucking up blood sugar, even slightly isn't fine for a pregnant woman.

NicoAndTheNiners · 11/07/2018 20:00

Without doing a set of obs its hard to say. But I do think you should ring and talk to someone. It could be a normal throat infection but chills would want me as a midwife getting you in to be checked.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 20:03

@NicoAndTheNiners okay, I’m just not sure I can drive over an hour to hospital is the only thing.

I just looked up about sepsis, it says the skin would be cold to the touch, mine isn’t. Also says you wouldn’t have much urine output, I’ve had loads today because I’ve drank so much.
I do tend to get chills/mild fever whenever I get a bad cold, I think it’s my body’s way of dealing with it.

OP posts:
NicoAndTheNiners · 11/07/2018 20:03

And people can be fairly well with sepsis initially. Walking into the ward well. But go downhill quickly. Sorry...Don't mean to sound negative and it may well not be sepsis. But I never think it's worth the risk.

4yearsnosleep · 11/07/2018 20:04

ITS NOT FINE TO OVERDOSE ON PARACETAMOL

That's not aimed at you op, just at the people that tell you 'it's fine'

Paracetamol is extremely dangerous if you take too much & far far worse than taking more than advised other painkillers. It will completely fuck your liver so so many people that think a paracetamol overdose is a cry for help die a few weeks later.

Take when it says to. Drink honey & lemon juice hot water, get a saline nose spray.

If you have a high temp that's not controlled by 6 hourly paracetamol, call the early pregnancy unit or maternity advice unit if later in pregnancy

NicoAndTheNiners · 11/07/2018 20:06

By the time you have little urine output and your skin is mottled your organs are failing. I've seen a lot of sepsis and little of those symptoms. They're late signs.

If you feel it's normal for you then that's your call. Can you take your actual temp and pulse?

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 20:06

@NicoAndTheNiners that’s worrying Sad I do suffer with health anxiety and GAD so I’m trying to keep calm about it and not panic. I will see how I go in the next hour or so. I’m not suspecting sepsis at the moment. I know you’re a medical professional and everything and I really appreciate you posting about it, I’ll keep an eye on how I am over the next hour or so I think.

Hope you feel better soon.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 20:12

@NicoAndTheNiners my bpm are 94 and my temp is 37.1

OP posts:
NicoAndTheNiners · 11/07/2018 20:15

That doesn't sound too bad. On those you wouldn't score on an early warning score chart. If pulse goes over 100 or temp over 38 or you feel worse then pls ring someone.

CathyandHeathcliff · 11/07/2018 20:15

@NicoAndTheNiners took bpm again and actually 110 but I am using a phone app so not sure how accurate
