Reduced movements - long sorry

Hi all, new here.
I'm 33w & 6d pregnant with my third. Since Thursday I've had reduced movement, to the point I can count on one hand how many movements I've felt.
I got checked over on Friday, booked in for an emergency growth scan which showed everything was fine (cord/placenta working beautifully the lady said, lots of fluid around baby, baby swallowing and doing lots of deep breaths in) and was checked over (by this I mean put on those monitors) again yesterday (Mon) which showed baby heart rate fine but a very sleepy baby - was on monitor from 12.15 to 2.30 and had 7 movements. In that time I started contracting so was given steriod injection as precaution but I'm so worried about not feeling anything, even now the last movement I remember feeling was about 5ish. I've tried laying on my side, going for a walk, having cold drinks and ice poles, eating something sweet, eating anything, rubbing my belly, talking to belly, poking belly. Do I just now suddenly have a sleepy baby? Is this at all normal? I'm back to hospital tomorrow for another monitoring & steriod injection but I've never experienced this before, has anybody?
V stressed

I so understand what that is like
Have you had steroids
Are you in Kent I can come see you

Redrunbluerun · 13/07/2018 19:27

I can’t believe they’re not taking you more seriously. They bang on and on about reduced movements, and how that’s more indicative than heart rate! Fingers crossed they get to the bottom of it Op, well done for being assertive.

GKite · 13/07/2018 19:39

Yeah I had steriods about two week ago I think, unfortunately not I'm away up in the highlands but thank you
Got given an egg sandwich so that's something
Wont know more until the Dr's do the rounds tomorrow now

Have you still not felt a kick since Wednesday?

GKite · 13/07/2018 20:31

Had two movements while being here I'm back on the monitor now and they keep having me change sides to wake baby upConfused

Not sure if the image will work, the top one is baby heart trace, bottom one being contractions/tightenings
Two black arrows are the movements I felt
Not sure what to do? Obviously I have to wait and speak to Dr's but don't know what's gonna happen

let us know how you get on!! Best of luck! If you’re worried about the trace get them to come and have a look

Tolulyly · 13/07/2018 21:20

@GKite have you got another photo of your ctg monitoring over the past half an hour? Has a doctor reviewed it?x

CoperCabana · 13/07/2018 21:24

They should look at the trace now if there is a concern. Or if you remain concerned. I know nothing about traces but can remember spending many stresses hours being traced so handhold for you.

LoveRainbow02 · 13/07/2018 21:35

Your situation sounds very similar to what I went through. I had my ds in March but from 35 weeks I had felt reduced movements drastically. Kept going to triage and put on ctg to be sent home again and again. Back up for the 4th time when I was 37 weeks and I had dilated to 2cms. I was given a sweep, quick scan to check baby then sent home again. 2 days later I went back in for monitoring and all said ctg was fine even though I wasn't feeling movements. Eventually they agreed to start to induce me the next day. I eventually gave birth to my son after a stressful labour where his heart rate dropped drastically and he had to have blood samples taken from his scalp to check levels of distress and I nearly needed an emergency section. When he was born it turns out the cord was wedged between his shoulder and mouth, very scary. You have done the right thing by going up and being checked all those times. Good luck.

If baby has shallow breathing why in the hell are they leaving it?? Demand answers OP. This is not on.

MadisonAvenue · 13/07/2018 21:57

Best of luck OP, isn't there a doctor who you could speak to now rather than having to wait until tomorrow morning?

JustVent · 13/07/2018 22:08

If baby has shallow breathing why in the hell are they leaving it?

Because the baby isn’t actually breathing at all. Shallow or not, all our babies do is make the motion of breathing, and doing so in a shallow fashion doesn’t mean less oxygen.

There will be long periods where the baby won’t be ‘breathing’ whatsoever. Because we do that for them.

lauryloo · 13/07/2018 22:22

Good luck op. I had this with ds and it’s so stressful x

MissEliza · 13/07/2018 22:40

Good luck Op. My SIL went three days without feeling movement (she thought that was normal). BIL whisked her off to his cousin who was an obstetrician when he heard this. All was fine and they had a healthy active little baby a few weeks later.
Hope you get a decent meal soon x

Quantumblue · 13/07/2018 23:28

Good luck OP. Hope you are being taken seriously.

GKite · 13/07/2018 23:42

Hi all,
That was my most recent tracing, it was done around 8pm but again they have no concerns
Due another one in two hours.
I've been given my clexane injections so obviously a section is not imminent Sad
The scan was quite a worry tbh, to see a baby just layed there not doing anything was so worrying, the breathing a bit of a concern as well as when I had a growth scan earlier on this month baby was taking huge deep breathes, sonohrapher even asked me to hold my breath and still only shallow breathing.
But again because the fluid around baby and the cord/placenta has a nice blood flow they don't seem to want to do much more.
I've had 5 different midwifes come and give my belly a shake and a prod and nothing.
I do refuse to believe that there is no Dr who can give me a more in depth answer atm but I do know they are busy so will hang on till morning, hoike my big girl knickers up and stand up for myself

I can see why you're worried id be so bloody anxious!!
I'll keep you and your little one in my thoughts tonight and hope everything is fine and she is just being a bit sleepy. Also hope you can get some rest but be hard wanting to scream and everyone else around you acting so blasé about it Sad

X

GKite · 13/07/2018 23:55

So sleepy that this has been on going for nearly a fortnight?? Can't be normal?
But then again I'm literally running through every "trick" cold drink, hot drink, laying on left side, cold compress, shake belly, eat something sweet and really focusing on whether or not I can feel movement and there is definitely nothing.
Ive never experienced this before and I'm not entirely sure what it means because like I say everyone else seems happy, even when taken off the trace earlier she was beaming from ear to ear "absolutely beautiful, wonderful, perfectly happy baby" 🙄

Oh love, this is stressful reading let alone how it must feel for you. Flowers

LadyDuplo · 14/07/2018 00:17

Such a worrying time for you OP. go with your instincts, if you want baby out ASAP please please beg for a c section now. Best wishes

GKite · 14/07/2018 07:21

This was my most recent trace now, done just after half 1. They had me switching sides left AND right this time, drinking freezing cold water. Then it was paused so they could shake my belly and get me to wiggle my hips. But then still said everything is OK.
Bet they don't tell the Dr's that they had to do that though Hmm
Am I over reacting? I genuinely don't know what to do for the best. Even my partner finally realised just how little movement I'm feeling and went and got some tiny baby outfits just incase! But now he has slunk back to "everything's fine" and pp right I just wanna scream!

Reduced movements - long sorry

Wow 😮 I'm appalled on your behalf! I would be demanding to know what's going on. I've had three very complicated pregnancies (one being twins) and had reduced movements - if I hadn't demanded the consultant had seen me that day I am convinced they wouldn't be here. I was given steroids two days before they were born - it was the best they could do. If you feel something isn't right, kick up a fuss, this is your baby. On the readings you have shown on the latest which is the movements? The one with hardly any changes? I would be telling anyone and everyone they were jiggling your stomach. You really do need to make a big fuss now and find a someone who will take you seriously. There are lots of campaigns ie movement matters and count the kicks that you can shove under their noses and tell them you want a section now. Good luck x

ButtfaceMiscreant · 14/07/2018 07:38

I would tell the Drs when they come on the ward round just what the midwives need to do to try and get baby to move, and that it clearly doesn't work and your instinct is that something was wrong.

I am so sorry they aren't taking you seriously. I had many episodes of reduced movement with DC1, I was taken seriously every time (esp after it took a minute to locate the heartbeat once at 33 weeks - longest minute of my life - and as a result they did a fetal fibronectin swab which was positive so they kept me in for 3 nights). Baby arrived at 37+5 after after induction following more reduced movement episodes.

Don't let this lie. You are not a new mother so you know something isn't right. Do they know about the increased movement directly before the period of reduced movement a couple of weeks ago?

GKite · 14/07/2018 07:46

I've edited the photo, the yellow circle is the movement I felt, just after half 1 to 2.45 and it was only the one.
I cannot wait until the drs come around, wish I had one of you lot here though lol
Think they wanna do another ctg before they come round though
Yeah they do but haven't really said much or focused on that

Reduced movements - long sorry
