Reduced movements - long sorry

Hi all, new here.
I'm 33w & 6d pregnant with my third. Since Thursday I've had reduced movement, to the point I can count on one hand how many movements I've felt.
I got checked over on Friday, booked in for an emergency growth scan which showed everything was fine (cord/placenta working beautifully the lady said, lots of fluid around baby, baby swallowing and doing lots of deep breaths in) and was checked over (by this I mean put on those monitors) again yesterday (Mon) which showed baby heart rate fine but a very sleepy baby - was on monitor from 12.15 to 2.30 and had 7 movements. In that time I started contracting so was given steriod injection as precaution but I'm so worried about not feeling anything, even now the last movement I remember feeling was about 5ish. I've tried laying on my side, going for a walk, having cold drinks and ice poles, eating something sweet, eating anything, rubbing my belly, talking to belly, poking belly. Do I just now suddenly have a sleepy baby? Is this at all normal? I'm back to hospital tomorrow for another monitoring & steriod injection but I've never experienced this before, has anybody?
V stressed

The care or lack of that you're receiving is disgusting!

I had pretty much the same issue as you during my twin pregnancy, despite weekly growth scans and 2 Doppler scans the fact that my ds had stopped growing for 4 weeks due to placental failure was only picked up because a different consultant reviewed my notes.

I had an emergency c section the next morning after hourly ctgs overnight and my son was luckily tiny but fine.

I was never made to feel a nuisance and the medical staff actually listened to my instincts which were telling me my baby needed to come out now.

Please keep pestering for more monitoring, demand to see a senior consultant today. You're your babies voice.

JustVent · 14/07/2018 13:10

It would be better just to go home and go back for the CTG’s surely?
Then perhaps when at home get on the phone to another hospital maternity ward and or PALS and get more professional option.

How far from another hospital are you?

GKite · 14/07/2018 15:21

I did discharge myself, sitting in hospital waiting for the them was just stressing me out.
But I made them put a plan in place, so I now have 3 x weekly ctg monitoring, the first being on Monday and a possible scan on Friday if they can 'fit me in' to check LV whatever that is?

OP really feeling you should be being treated better than this! I can't even imagine how you're feeling right now Thanks

GruffaloStick · 14/07/2018 15:37

Did a consultant review the ctg traces before you left?
LV is liquor volume / amniotic fluid I think

obviouslymarvellous · 14/07/2018 15:41

I would no way have left sorry but I feel you should be contacting DAU as Tommy's suggest. You need to make a huge fuss - get to the other hospital if needs be. Have you got your notes with you. You should be demanding another consultant. I really feel for you but you need to make a fuss (although you shouldn't have to) can you get to the other hospital?

Kiztok · 14/07/2018 15:42

No advice to offer as only in my first pregnancy but have everything crossed for you, please keep us all updated x

Thetimehascometo · 14/07/2018 15:58

I'd be getting a second opinion. There does seem to be good variability in your ctgs which is possibly why they aren't overly concerned, however it's the shaking and cold drinks to achieve this I would not be happy with! If you can get yourself to another hospital or go back and ask for a different consultants opinion. Explain what is going on. You're 35 weeks so they will want to be keeping baby in, but if baby needs to come out and has had steroid injections it should well be ok- our 34 weeker was!

This is awful they sound terrible Shock

LostMyBaubles · 14/07/2018 16:20

Op Flowers
They sound terrible

A mothers instinct is always right

Here at the hosp im under all reduced movements ladies are popped on trace and scanned that day or the next. No matter how many times its been.

Really hope things are ok for the both of you

LostMyBaubles · 14/07/2018 16:24

Also on the AMA boards theres a gyne consultant
I would pop on there and ask for some advice about handling this.
They might be able to give you that bit you need for someone to help you

CoperCabana · 14/07/2018 16:40

Are you sure discharging yourself was the right thing? I thought the doctor wanted you monitored?

huha · 14/07/2018 17:33

Sounds like you need to be presenting yourself at another hospital OP. Breathing in a scan does matter, by the way, depending on how many weeks you are. Babies should be practicing taking breaths and by 38 weeks there should be a regular pattern. I know you are less than this but taking no breaths is not a good sign. Of course, I am not a obstetrician and have just looked at research studies.

JustVent · 14/07/2018 17:35

I think Gynaes known about female anatomy rather than the baby.

Had it been an obstetric consultant that would be a different matter .

I would however, put a thread on AIBU because you’ll get a wealth of knowledge on there as well as MW’s.

LostMyBaubles · 14/07/2018 17:45

@justwent just went back to the thread and indeeed they are gyne and obstetrics consultant so hopefully might be able yo advise op

Starting another thread or asking MN to move this to aibu will get more traffic and more support too

JustVent · 14/07/2018 18:02

Ooh nice, maybe PM them OP.
Can you link the thread to here?

rainbowstardrops · 14/07/2018 18:54

I would personally not be happy to just go along with their nonchalance.
This is your precious baby!
You should at the very least, be given a thorough explanation as to why they think the very reduced lack of movements and shallow/no breathing is ok.
I think you should have stayed there though to get this across - or make the journey to another hospital and 'fresh eyes'.

takenitall · 14/07/2018 20:27

How are you

Zephyrsinskyatnight · 15/07/2018 19:43

Everything ok op? X

noseoftralee · 15/07/2018 20:12

Hopefully OP doing ok. This thread has been on my mind today

TheMotherofBears · 15/07/2018 20:16

Mine too. Thinking about you OP

surreygirl1987 · 15/07/2018 21:07

Hope all is okay OP

GKite · 16/07/2018 10:47

Hello everyone
Sorry didn't mean to make anybody panic, I'd forgotten my password!
I was due in for ctg today but my childminder was in a car accident so had nobody to watch my children, I'm aware I should have taken them with me but that would have been a massive pain and really not worth the stress. Have got it rebooked for tomorrow.
Nearest hospital is 35 miles away so it's really not easy just to up sticks to somewhere else, where would I sleep? Who would have my children? How could I even afford to get there?
Also I think if I was to have a PPH like I've had with my other labours, I'll just be transferred back to my hospital anyway.
The reason I discharged myself was because after 45 minutes of sleep, I wasn't happy to be just left sitting on a bed doing nothing. I fail to see why I couldn't have gone home and come back later for the monitoring like they've booked me in for.
I'm going along with what they say because I don't really have a choice, they obviously won't section me this early on, they obviously aren't concerned, nobody else is concerned, I can't stand up for myself I don't even know what to say to them anymore. I am about 94% sure that something is wrong but if I badger them I'll just be made to stay in hospital and when I've got no support with the children it's hard to do that, I already feel like shit so please don't rush in to pile it on.
