I am currently 36+4 weeks. Went to bed feeling like i was going to have diarrhoea but nothing UNTIL this morning. I've woken up with really bad diarrhoea and cannot leave the bathroom at all. Is there anything i can take like Imodium? Thanks

How are you this morning OP?

Choccywokkiedoo · 01/07/2018 09:14

Hey @SamanthaH92
Just heckled back to see how you are. Really hope you're ok and took advice to get to the hospital. Update when you can x

SamanthaH92 · 01/07/2018 12:05

Hey ladies. I fell asleep last night, not long woken up. Itching stopped but i have rang 111 a while ago. Didn't want to leave the house as still have diarrhoea and bad tummy cramps when i need to go. Although its more bad tummy cramps now and there is nothing left to come out. Asked for the on call doctor for my area to ring me back and possibly come out to our house but they've said no and booked me in to the hospital walk in centre later on x

Good, glad you're being seen. Take a bag with you...

Choccywokkiedoo · 01/07/2018 12:47

So glad you're being seen today lovely. Rest up and keep drinking loads x

SamanthaH92 · 01/07/2018 12:51

Me too just wish the on call doctor could of come to the house. Didn't really want to have to leave the house (not nice when you don't feel well and want your own bathroom) that and the fact if it is a stomach bug or anything i didn't want to pass it on too anyone xx

Thought i would update. I explained everything to the nurse/doctor. She thinks it is viral/gastroenteritis. Checked blood pressure which was slightly high. Not dehydrated which was good as managing to drink plenty. She thinks it should pass soon and not worried about anything else. I really hope it does because had enough now. Thank you for all your help xx

Glad to hear you've been checked over. Let's hope this passes overnight for you. Keep resting and hope that your OH is being a help.

SamanthaH92 · 01/07/2018 17:54

He's been brilliant. I have to admitt we are very lucky he is so good even when I'm not ill lol. I am resting and he is looking after the little one. I really hope so as well. Can't bare another day of it xx

Really glad it’s not something liver-related and serious, though obviously miserable for you.

Lots of get well wishes Flowers

SamanthaH92 · 02/07/2018 11:42

@Verbena87 thank you. I'm getting a little concerned it isn't viral/gastro. Although i M still today running back wards and forwards to the loo and have had a bit of diarrhea I'm finding the more i move around (trying to help OH with the cleaning before he goes back to work tomorrow) the more diarrhea cramps I'm getting without the diarrhea. Completly fed up now x

Pastaagain78 · 02/07/2018 21:45

Any improvement?

SamanthaH92 · 02/07/2018 22:09

@pastaagain78 i had diarrhea this morning a bit ( not eaten much so nothing there) then had cramps on and of all day. Would run to the toliet and nothing. Ate about a spoonfull of pasta around 5pm. Had a bit more diarrhea later tonight and now back to cramps like i need to go but nothing there. OH and LO haven't caught it which if it was a viral/gastro i thought they would have? OH goes back to work tomorrow so hoping it is gone by morning. Trying to eat something now but dreading the effects its going to add. X

Bless you. This has been an ordeal.

DwangelaForever · 02/07/2018 22:15

@SamanthaH92 me and hubby and dd had a stomach bug last week we all caught it within 2 days of someone showing symptoms

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and it presented in me as V&D

My nearly 2 year old just had vomiting and my hubby just had diarrhoea. Hope you are ok, make sure to take dioralyte!

SamanthaH92 · 02/07/2018 22:24

I am not dehydrated which is good. OH and Dd showing no signs of getting it. I don't even feel ill anymore. I have been googling ( bloody thing ) apprently a "clear out" can last weeks before labour so I'm wondering if it is that? I'm dreading tomorrow when its just me and DD. I don't want to spend all day running up and down the stairs with her. X

mydaughteristhecoolest · 02/07/2018 22:47

@SamanthaH92 I really feel for you. I had a bug (D&V both ends) when I was 34 weeks pregnant and it was HORRENDOUS. Luckily mine was only a 24 hour thing but I literally didn't leave the bathroom the whole 24 hours. I really feel your pain. Hope you feel better tomorrow and it goes away!!! ThanksThanks

SamanthaH92 · 02/07/2018 22:50

@mydaughteristhecoolest thank you. Its been 3 days now so not holding my breath lol. If i still have it tomorrow may ring the gp and see what they suggest. Don't want to not be eating enough for baby.

Choccywokkiedoo · 03/07/2018 10:49

How are you feeling?
I've joined you now but it's spew city here and not the other end. I'm 33 weeks this Thursday so hoping it's a bug also. Baby's not cooked enough yet!!!

SamanthaH92 · 03/07/2018 12:35

Oh no. I think I'd prefer sickness lol. I am not doing good at all. Day 4 now, OH has gone back to work, when i need to go i NEED to go and DD doesn't quite understand that so i am struggling. Luckily my mum is coming shortly take her for the afternoon. The stomach cramps are awful, so painful. I litrally don't know how much longer i can cope with it, or where its coming from because i haven't eaten much. Waiting for a call from the midwife. I'm hoping she suggests something i can take😭😭 xx

OP posts:
SamanthaH92 · 03/07/2018 18:22

@choccywokkydoo how are you feeling tonight? I spoke to the midwife and she thinks i need to take a sample in the gps to be tested. She really doesn't think its a clear out and i should not of had any bug this long x

Throwaway4misc · 03/07/2018 20:57

This sounds near enough identical to when I had campylobactor a few weeks ago. It was confirmed with a positive stool sample but I did have to just ride it out. Hope your feeling better soon x

SamanthaH92 · 03/07/2018 23:45

@throwaway4misc oh no. How long did it last? I thought tonight i was getting much better but apprently not. I also discovered we have come in to contact with people that have had d&v x

When I had food poisoning. At the beginning I had stomach cramps and a bit of diarhea. I took some over the counter stuff to stop the diarhea and it was the worst thing I could have done. I had a day of extreme pain before the diarrhea came full force. I think all the medication did was make it all last longer. do understand what you're going through as I couldn't move too far away from the toilet during that time.

Make sure you replenish what you are losing. Drink lots of water and something like Dioralyte is good. Don't know if you can take it during pregnancy but as it just replaces the salts and nutrients you are losing it might be ok.

tracymars · 04/07/2018 00:17

Mine was campylobacter food poisoning from chicken. I didn't know that until the doctor got my poo tested. After I was through the worst and could make it to the doctor. There was no vomitting. Just extremely urgent diarrhea and the worst stomach pain I have ever experienced. I also couldn't eat anything. I survived on jelly and cheap chocolate mousse because I thought something was better than nothing
