I am currently 36+4 weeks. Went to bed feeling like i was going to have diarrhoea but nothing UNTIL this morning. I've woken up with really bad diarrhoea and cannot leave the bathroom at all. Is there anything i can take like Imodium? Thanks

@pebblespony aww did you? I don't have them and there was no blood till a good few hours after it started. Now slightly panicking about the blood. Got awful headache as well now x

The headache, your swollen legs and feet and the fact that your bloody pressures up I would be tempted to ring them again.

Mymycherrypie · 30/06/2018 16:06

Dioralyte as someone else said. It will absolutely help a thousand times more than lucozade or any other concotion. It has salts in to soothe your intestine and aid stopping the diarrhoea. I believe you can take it whilst pregnant. This is the first thing a doctor would tell you.

The midwife said to just drink and take paracetomol which i have. I'm going to give them another call back in a bit i think xx

Paracetamol for pain
Regular sips of diorolyte to avoid dehydration/replenish
Keep an eye on Urine output

If dehydration or constant abdo pain, call out of ours GP

If visual symptoms, worsening swelling or reduced fetal movements call MAU
Xxxx

Thank you all for the advice and help. Do you think i should be worried about the bleeding? I mean its not major but enough to notice when i wipe. Do you think so much diarrhoea has caused it? Maybe burst a blood vessel?x

I had this in my first pregnancy and not to worry you but it wasn’t preeclampsia. I’d had swollen ankles and steadily increasing BP and they had just let it fly because I didn’t have a large enough amount of protein in my urine. I went to A&E when the diarrhoea started and they induced me the same day. I was 37 weeks. Hope you’re ok, please go and sit on the trace at least x

EvilMorty · 30/06/2018 17:36

Was*

SamanthaH92 · 30/06/2018 17:46

@Evilmorty did you have blood in the diarrhea after going for a while? What was it then if not preclampsia? I've not been for a while now thank god but i dare not eat x

OP posts:
EvilMorty · 30/06/2018 18:07

Sorry, it was preeclampsia - phone autocorrected. I did have a bit of blood yes but I had ongoing piles anyway, the pain was what made me go to a&e more than anything else. I thought it was diorrhea pain or labour, as it was my first I had no idea. As it’s your second, it is less likely to be preeclampsia apparently, but do get checked out. Over 90 diastolic was the key for me second time, I wasn’t monitored too closely until I hit that point.

SamanthaH92 · 30/06/2018 18:17

I had it checked 3 times yesterday by them and my urine. They just said it was high but room for it to go a bit higher atm so not worried. Mil checked it with a machine for me earlier and same as yesterday, well for the first reading. I'm due to get it rechecked on tuesday but maybe won't wait that long xx

Internal piles could be causing the bleeding.

SamanthaH92 · 30/06/2018 20:03

I'm still going to the loo now on and off. WAY TO MUCH TMI here but its almost like phlegm. OH spoke to a relative who used to be a midwife who thinks it probably is a viral infection of the stomach so thats why PAU won't want me in. Just having a little bit to eat now but so worried I'm going to be up all night xx

Look after yourself OP.

Pastaagain78 · 30/06/2018 20:31

Ah poor you. It’s common to get mucus after an upset stomach.

SamanthaH92 · 30/06/2018 21:50

Thank you ladies. I'll try. I'm feeling much worse tonight, not quite sure I'll be getting much sleep. I'm very itchy, more swelling in ankles, feeling very sick and as if I'm dehydrated. Headache and really hot but temp is only 37.2. I'll defiently be giving out of hours a call tomorrow. Once again thank you all for the advice xx

OP posts:
Aspieparent · 30/06/2018 21:53

I really think you need to see someone more swelling and the fact your itchy now too doesn't sound great at all.

Lemoncordial · 30/06/2018 21:58

Do you mean itchy on your bum or elsewhere?

Pinkgeorge · 30/06/2018 22:09

You really should try and get seen tonight, if you are itchy and unwell it’s a sign that there could be liver problems. I’m not trying to scare you

Itchyknees · 30/06/2018 22:10

You need to speak to the labour ward TONIGHT. Not kidding. Call now, don’t leave it.

SamanthaH92 · 30/06/2018 22:11

Itchy on my feet and ankles. Back is a bit itchy too. Feel like I'm getting cold now as well. Just had a cool shower and thats helped the itching but i will be trying to get an appointment somewhere tomorrow. Going to try get some rest again snd just praying i feel better tomorrow. I don't cope very well with feeling sick and poorly 😔 x

OP posts:
Itchyknees · 30/06/2018 22:16

No. Call the hospital and tell them what you’ve posted here.

Pinkgeorge · 30/06/2018 22:32

The itching is NOT a good sign. Please call the hospital

Pebblespony · 30/06/2018 22:36

Itching can be a sign of a serious condition.

Verbena87 · 30/06/2018 22:41

Yep. Call 111 and get seen as soon as possible. The swelling and itching need checking out immediately.

Really hope you feel much better soon.
