I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

You’re definitely not being pathetic silversplodge. HG is completely exhausting even when you start feeling a little better.
Has anyone else suffered with piles? I have them presumably as a result of constipation from the meds. I hope they go away after birth.

SassehMonsta · 27/09/2018 11:19

Slightly worried here. Meant to be around 5 weeks. Nausea was standard and this morning it's gone. I'm having a mild panic and may go home.to sleep

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/09/2018 13:46

Don't panic SassehMonsta - I think even in the depths of HG I'd have the odd day where I'd suddenly feel better. I seem to remember having lots of nausea even before I'd taken a test, it getting worse, then a few better days, then WHAM, full hg.

beanhunter · 27/09/2018 14:15

Read my post from yesterday. Had a good morning and lost the plot. Today am an inpatient again.

Olivecake · 27/09/2018 15:55

SassehMonsta as others have mentioned it can be totally normal to have the odd ‘good’ day, and of course it’s easier to panic that it means the worst but it’s usually just a one off. I hope you’re able to feel better and reassured soon, is there a possibility of having an early scan soon maybe?

Hotchoc I also have piles, I assume also from constipation. Never had them before and it’s quite unpleasant - mine have only just developed in the last few days but I’m only 23 weeks so hope they don’t get too much worse for the rest of my pregnancy! Have you tried any gels or anything? A few seem safe for pregnancy so I think I will pick some up tomorrow. Gosh between all this vomit, constipation and now piles, pregnancy is sooo glamorous!

Mammabear13 · 27/09/2018 17:08

I am wearily raising my head above the sickness parapet to say hi again. No advice on the piles front I'm afraid - who knew pregnancy could be so fun, eh.

I am finding the sickness difficult to cope with alongside caring for my other two; it's definitely a challenge. This afternoon I had a sit in at the doctors until I was seen, but after 1hr 15 he did see me. It was somewhat helpful but still very frustrating. In the end I was given metachlopromide (sp?) although I asked for prochlorperazine and he wouldn't give me any ranitidine. He also asked if I had tried ginger, and advised I stayed away from any smells that were triggering the sickness! He then kindly informed me if it didn't work I would have to go to the hospital to see what is wrong with me because I should be responding to the treatment but I don't think that's true! I also realised at the chemist that he hadn't put it on repeat either. Why does it have to be such a struggle?! Hoping it at least helps anyway - anyone else found it good?

SassehMonsta · 27/09/2018 19:38

Thanks all for the reassuring words. I'm feeling a tad nauseous this afternoon/evening as toddler keeps bouncing off me, despite my requests not to. Just battling through an awful bedtime now and wondering why I'm doing this again!?!

Mammabear, your doctor doesn't sound like he's taking the situation seriously enough. Urgh. I hope the new tablets help, and if not, that they can get you on decent ones soon!

LucindaE · 27/09/2018 21:29

Sassehmonsta That the nausea is back is reassuring anyway. Ouch about toddler.
MamaBear That's a dismally long wait. Ginger!!! Sad I can't believe a doctor said that. It's bad enough when nurses do. I don't see why he refused Ranitidine - he sounds like the GP I had, but that was years and years ago! I think you can get Omprazole over the counter? It might be a good thing to see a hospital doctor if Metoclopramide doens't work well - s/he might know more. Shock
Hotchocolate Very near indeed. I think a lot of people have complained about piles through constipation on here, and they tend to go, thankfully, after pregnancy.
Silversplodge I so agree with others. You are definitely not being pathetic.

It is very quiet on here. I hope that the notifications link hasn't gone down again, as it did a few months ago, as we don't want people suffering in isolation!

Still here. Still an inpatient. Still vomiting. Back on fluids today. Consultant has told me she’s just covering and doesn’t do early pregnancy so can’t do anything to help me. Feel very fed up.

Foodylicious · 29/09/2018 10:30

lucinda Hi!

Doing ok here.

Thought baby was getting ready to make an appearance Thurs eve/yesterday morning.
Had a few really strong and close contractions after part of plug came away, then settled back to just the usual tightenings I've had for days and days.
Barely getting those today.
So disappointing. I had bowels on the move, lots if shivering and later a good vom so really thought things were getting going.

39+1 now so could still be a while but I am getting impatient Confused.

Foodylicious · 29/09/2018 10:31

bean that sounds awful
So are they not giving you any extra meds at all? Just a drip?

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/09/2018 10:34

Still here, still utterly fed up! Not back to full HG status (I've managed not to properly vomit, more borderline sicky mouth ) but loads of nausea and reflux so I'm taking ondansetron most days now.

SPD is really bad (think baby has dropped) and everything just fecking hurts! Lots of massive tightenings too but I think Braxton hicks rather than contractions as there's no pattern.

6 days to go, and counting!

Hotchocolate86 · 29/09/2018 10:37

I’m still here too. Just busy with getting ready for the baby.
Someone asked if I have any cream or anything for the piles. I bought some cream from Tesco and it’s actually really helped. I’m much more comfortable now.
That sounds rough beanhunter. I hope at least the fluids help. Do you have any meds at all at the moment?

Hotchocolate86 · 29/09/2018 10:41

I hope your babies make an appearance soon foody and statistically. My tightenings have all stopped so at the moment I’m expecting to get to my csection date.

Foodylicious · 29/09/2018 10:46

Fx for you hotchoc
You get to meet your baby soon!!!!

Mammabear13 · 29/09/2018 12:02

Man, I am feeling so bad today. Struggling to remember why we are doing this again or to see past the unending first horrid bit of pregnancy - I know I should try to just take it one day at a time but I feel panicked I can't see further than that; kinda claustrophobic, I guess. It's a wonder any of us make it through!

Bean that does sound awful. I'm sorry the consultant isn't helping, I'm sure they should be able to deal with whatever cases come their way! I hope the fluid grants some respite for you, you poor thing.

& lots of love to those of you waiting for imminent baby arrival - hope they come soon & the sickness becomes a distant memory x

tinyradish · 29/09/2018 15:06

Having a bad day here too - constant vomiting. I don't understand why some days are so much worse than others!

Sorry to all the other ladies suffering. It really is miserable but some of you are so close to the end :)

Unbreakable2017 · 29/09/2018 17:28

Hi everyone. Still here too. Been back at work for last week or so, the cyclizine has reduced the vomiting significantly but nausea still there. Have also had acupuncture a few times which may have helped a bit too. Certainly not a miracle cure and v £££ but am going to have another couple of sessions in case it is helping. Mine gets worse as day progresses so trying to eat as much as I can during the day, nothing after about 5 as just can’t keep it down.
Sympathies to everyone dealing with other children too. Feel awful for letting my toddler watch so much tv but I can’t manage much else when I’m by myself!
Hope everyone is hanging on in there... Good luck to those with due dates soon. I felt instantly better when I gave birth last time!

tinyradish · 29/09/2018 19:03

Oh gosh yes, no idea how people are managing with children.... Bloody superwomen! I've not left my bed all day. But on the plus side its 7pm & I've finally kept down some lucozade slowly sipped over an hour or so & a nibble of a biscuit! What an achievement. Fingers crossed for the rest of the biscuit Grin

Foreverblues · 29/09/2018 21:37

Hi guys, hope all ok. I’m 8 weeks now. The zofran has been a god send and last 2 days I’ve only needed 1 a day. But definitely got the dreaded side effect of constipation. Would lactulose be a good plan? I’ve tried more bran, fruit veg and fluids but don’t even feel urge to go x

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/09/2018 22:13

If you've no urge to go then lactulose - taken regularly!
If you feel like you need to go but can't, erm, manage to make it happen (common if it's been a while) then glycerin suppositories (Boots sell them)

LucindaE · 29/09/2018 22:18

beanhunter Poor you. That is awful. How long have you been in? As others say, surely you are on meds and I do hope the fluids help. No wonder you are fed up. Things will surely get better; try and hang on.
I really feel for you.
Foodylicious I hope it comes soon. All those symptoms are so hopeful!
Hotchocolate I'm glad the cream has helped.
StatisticallyChallanged That does sound nasty, and spd too. Sympathies.
Mamabear You will get there, and what a prize at the end of the Hyperemesis Horror Run. But many sympathies.
Unbreakable I am glad Acupuncture helped a bit. It does seem to help most a bit, but I think I was very lucky it helped me so much.
Glad the Cyzline helps too.
tinyradish Congratulations on that Lucoazade and I do hope the biscuit styed put.
Foreverblue Most people say that Lactulose really helps. Very brave souls manage to swallow Fibregel but it is bad enough without Hyperemesis. Many find those gel suppositories are really good, though many pharmacists won't sell them to pregnant woman though they use them in hospitals.
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.
