Hi I recently bought clear blue advanced fertility monitor and pinpointed my ovulation dated I DID twice on the day before ovulation and on the day after . What are the chances of becoming pregnant. And how soon can I test so I really have to wait until the first day of my next expected period ? This two week wait is frustrating

I seriously would wait until your period is actually due. 6 days is far too early even with a first response. The earlier you test, the less likely the result will actually be correct! It's a head fuck and costs loads....

We didn’t.

I got pregnant on the fifth month of trying. In hindsight I was lucky, and five months is nothing. At the time I remember vividly feeling hopeless and breaking down in the baby department of M&S after the fourth negative test.

I think the number of people I knew anacdotally who had got pregnant on the first try made me feel hopeless, when actually they are the minority. People who take a little longer generally tend not to talk about it, as it’s such a raw, personal thing.

Your time will come - what helped for me was just trying to forget all about it, not google, not MNet, not talk about it. Just put it out of my mind as best as I could. I took lots of lovely long baths, did some mindfulness colouring books and lots of yoga, looked after myself and had the odd glass of prosecco here and there.

Thanks for your advice . I believe stress can affect your mind and body a lot

We did both times. I got ovulation sticks (cheap ones from Amazon) and just DTD on alternate days.

Ash1992 · 02/05/2018 08:11

Duckegg86 when did you test before your period was due? Or did you just know

No I tested kind of from Day 12 onwards think it became positive from 13-14

I used an app to calculate my fertile week.
Conceived second month (only did it twice) sadly miscarried and a month off and did it once the following month and am now 20 weeks.

Was convinced it would take a while, I'm 35 and my husband is 50 and we were both smokers (till the 1st month)

So you just dtd any time that quick you didn't track a day when you actually peaked

A word of warning... We were shocked when I got pregnant the first day I stopped taking my pill! We're extremely blessed I know so not trying to give unrealistic expectations (everyone else on here knows much more than me about the chances) but just be prepared!

Like I say, I know I'm extremely lucky and am aware that if we ever try for another baby we may not be so lucky.

Good luck :-)

SMEP (Sperm Meets Egg Plan) really helped me to relax and not obsess over catching the right days, got pregnant first month we tried that and am now 20 weeks.

But I also got pregnant the first month we tried and then the next month and we lost both, sadly. That was in 2016.

I would recommend the SMEP wholeheartedly.

Thanks when did you have your first scan

We did. I thought we wouldn't (33 and 34) husband thought we would. So typically we did. We're expecting a boy too. I think they've already started ganging up lol!
